Kathleen,
I've seen this often.
When a scratch tape is needed (and I think after the "normal" scratch tapes
have been used up)
the ones in the pending state (reusedelay=0) will be converted into
scratch.

You will have to manually change the default capacity in your devclass to 40
GB. We noticed that when we upgraded to the 3.7 server we actually dropped
to 10 GB. If you look at the help pages (on 3.7) you will notice that Tivoli
thinks the 3590E-C capacity is only 10 GB. Go figure.

Hi All,
We just upgraded all the 3590B1A drives in the 3494 to 3590E1A with the
option to support the Extended Length 3590-K tapes.
I did the following to redefine the drives:
rmdev -l rmt1 -d
cfgmgr
adsm> upd devclass 3590tape format=3590E-C
adsm> del drive 3494lib tapedrive1
adsm> def drive 34
A change in the reuse delay setting will not effect tapes that are already
in pending state. If you need the tapes back immediately, you could delete
the volume.

Hi Mahesh,
I have also experienced this on older versions of TSM after I had had a 3590
serviced in the 3494. One way I found to get aroung the halt of the TSM server
was to delete the tape device and re-create it. Takes under one minute and
doesn't require downtime for TSM.
Thanks,

John,
One easy and simple way would be to have separate TSM Server
NODENAME for your "monthly" vs. "daily" backups.
Perform "COPY" type backups monthly. Then, you could
use different ADSMAUTODELETE values for each nodename.

John,
You cannot do it using the "/ADSMAUTODELETE" option. For me the onyl way to
do it is to create a script which select each backup you want to delete.
Look in the www.adsm.org, on the first version of the agent someone wrote a
kind of script which do the same thing that the "/ADSMAUTODELETE".

Robert,
TDP for Exchange talks to the Exchange server through
an Exchange backup/restore API. The Exchange API also has a
nice feature that if there is an error from an API call,
you can call another API with the error code and it will
return a message with text explaining what the problem is.

Yes. AutoVault will manage the offsite vaulting of copy pools as well as
