Re: [yocto] Yocto Project @ ELC NA 2019

2019-05-02 Thread Volosincu, Andreea S
Hi Rudi,

That sounds super interesting. We do have a 6'x6' exhibit booth on the show
floor, and a DevDay on Tuesday, August 20.

Are you planning to show just the instrument cluster, or the whole gokart? If
the gokart, I would just need to check with LF and see if we are allowed to
have that on the show floor. It's certainly a new thing we haven't tried or had
before.

Thanks!
Andreea

hi Rudolf,

we are definitely planning to be at ELC, with a similar setup as with past ELC
: booth, demo, DevDay and BoF, well, at least !

2019-05-02 Thread Volosincu, Andreea S
Hi Rudi,

That's awesome! I will check with LF events to see if there are any issues with
showing that or restrictions with how people engage with it during the show.
Definitely in favor of showing the whole gokart.

Thanks!

Hi Andrea,

I was intending to bring the whole gokart. It's more fun to see the speedometer
go up when you push down on the pedal and the regen to kick in when letting go
etc. Everybody has seen hundreds of instrument cluster demos (at least when you
work for the automotive industry). It might be a crowd catcher too (at least
that's what I figured when I was at CES this year; a booth with a vehicle had
many spectators :).

Please see early picture (without cluster) attached.

Hi Armin,

Thanks for letting us know. The security summit overlaps with a lot of things,
including the first ELC day.

Hopefully we can make it work by fine-tuning the agenda in such a way that you
attend just the portion of the day that is interesting to you, or you are
presenting.

Let's talk more during the advocacy call.

Thanks!

Hi Jupiter,

Melbourne Australia is not in the plan for the near future, but you could help
remotely as well.

For instance, have you checked out the first live streaming that we had?
Developers worldwide could help us with this, showing other developers how they
work with the project. Here it is: https://www.twitch.tv/yocto_project/videos.
Please let me know what you think.

I'd actually word it a little bit differently:

If there is only *ONE* attendee who did not properly do the homework, it will
have a massive impact an the rest of the group. And that somebody will show up
unpreparedly is absolutely certain in my opinion.

As someone who actually got started through the YPDD beginner track (and also
often recommends it to new beginners), my opinion is clearly that we either
should have it, be it only for a handful of attendees, or offer a *real*
replacement, with face to face training. My experience is that this personal
thing in the very beginning is an absolutely essential part of many YP/OE
careers.

Looking at the information on the Linux Foundation page about OSS/ELCE
(https://events.linuxfoundation.org/events/embedded-linux-conference-europe-2019/program/co-located-events/),
is it correct that the social event for the Yocto Project Summit will be on
"Day 2", i.e., Friday? I had expected it to be on Thursday as I assume people
want to go home on Friday evening...
