Hey everyone, I still have a small ‘xmodmap’ configuration which is working for 
me, and I'm not changing it.  However, I think for most use cases, it's better 
to use XKB-extension and its utilities.  I mean, right?

Not so knowledgable about X window system.  First, can that be donethrough 
XKB-extension, which is the better approach?  Second, xmodmapsetting changes 
with plugging out the input device, and doesn'tsupport hot-plugging.

In a previous thread in the list, someone suggested using `inputplug`from: 
https://github.com/andrewshadura/inputplug

To run the script anytime ‘xmodmap’ configuration is lost.

Are you running iBus? iBus does meddle with the keymap even
if you don't actively use it. There is a setting that
tells it not to touch the system keymap.
