Re: [Wormux-dev] new weapon - riot bomb

2006-06-13 Par sujet Matthieu Fertré

Hi!
The patch is commited on the svn repository.
I sent the sound as well on the repository, not sure for the licencing, as it
is in Creative Common License.
Wouldn't it be good if we just precise in the authors.xml file the particular
license for this file ?

It should be ok BUT Wormux is not in GPL anymore if you do that!
Wormux sources are GPL
Wormux data are GPL+CC Sampling

It would be annoying for distro integration :'(

Can the communication team make research about licenses mixing ? or
perhaps find a sound maker (posting on the freesound forum ?) ?

Bye,

Matt

Because it wasn't very hard I added the riot bomb weapon to wormux.
It is a weapon from atanks (and probably other games of that kind).

The weapon does no damage, it just makes a big hole.

I slightly modified ApplyExplosion() to be able to define the range where
the particles are drawn.
In my opinion the small value looks better for that weapon.

sample of which the explosion sound is made of (hope there aren't any
licencing problems):

Hi,

Victor, can you check the file bs.po and add it in repository ? you are
the translation specialist ;-)

Can anybody else create a directory on gna to add the slackware build
and update the website ?

Thanks,

Matt

Hello Matthieu,

I've translated the whole .po thing into Bosnian, so this is 100% valid
Bosnian translation. As for slackware build I kind of had some problems but
it's just fine.

You can download everything on abshost.net/wormux/

Or if you're too lazy :) ...

For Translation direct link is: http://abshost.net/wormux/bs.po

And for slackware package direct link is:
http://abshost.net/wormux/wormux-0.7.2-i486-ABS.tgz

Please just replace the current wormux-0.7-i486-1.tgz from your current build
with the one I've just uploaded which is wormux-0.7.2-i486-ABS.tgz.

As for the .po files just use the bs.po. I think that's it for now. Which
address is used for reporting bugs :) Let me know if you have any further
questions or when Bosnian should be included into next version ;)

Regards,

Adnan

great :-)

For translation, you need to use UTF-8 and to create a file in
/path/to/wormux/po/. You can copy paste one of the .po file and then
edit it. I though there are some tools to do that but I don't know
anyone since I never translated something. When it's done, please send
the file so we can add it in the repository.
If then you want to maintain the translation, we will open you the svn
repository in read/write access.

What info do you need to make slackware package ?

Bye,

Matt

License problem is a stupid things. License of the sound is like the GPL:
  http://creativecommons.org/licenses/sampling+/1.0/

There is just a condition: keep author name, like GPL. But the license
allow commercial ends, like GPL. And, like GPL, reuse of this file have to
display the license, like the GPL ...

Don't know about that.

Nouvelle map !

The problem with the network is when the fire particles apply a force to other
object/skin, but we can still use those fire particle to make damages and to
dig (little) holes.
The biggest problem is that in worms, when the ground is burning with those
particle, if a worms falls on it, it usually slides on it...
But even if our skin can't slide on it, I think it should still be implemented
as it's really beautiful, and will allow us to do some really great weapons
(napalm strike, cocktail molotov, lance-flamme )

I guess, making one tarball for the program and several others dedicated to
maps (at least one for GPL compatible, one for doubtful) would sort the
problem out, but would be a hassle to build.
And maybe this is a bit overkill unless map developpers plan to massively use
materials with exotic licences.
