[Wormux-dev] Good news and future

2006-06-07 Par sujet Jean Parpaillon
Hi,
If anyone use Ubuntu Dapper, (s)he may have discovered wormux on the
repositories today. This is very good for us ! Dapper has just been
released and many people are testing it on these days. Unhappily, the
version is quite old (0.7-1) but the uploader has been contacted to put
the last version (0.7.2-3).
For Debian Sid, there should be good in a few days and the version will
be 0.7.2-3.

About the next releases, I imagine something like this:
- A 0.7.3 version with some new maps and bug fixes and the (still)
experimental network support, with a menu entry for it. Maybe in a few
days.
- As soon as the network support will be stable enough, I think there
should be a 0.8 version.

To answer to GentilDemon and Haypo, I don't think it worth releasing at
fixed date but rather when some functionnalities are ready. Something
like what have been done until here :
- network support -> major version
- IA -> major version
- map generator -> major version
- new map, new team -> minor version
- bug fixes -> minor version
- new weapon -> minor version
- ...

Jean

Can you wait a little before the 0.7.3 release, there is currently a bug with
explosions on a network game, which makes wormux unplayable over network..
I should fix it this week-end ..

I just received your mail, so as I said it would be good to wait the end of
the week, so I can fix a big bug in the network.

It seems really good to me! :)
This way, the last major version will be exactly 1.0... so we just need more
and more code ...

It is not a definitive Changelog, it is just to point out some news for
the next release.

We should probably add a text on the network menu to explain that it is
still experimental !!

What about endianess ? Can you fixed it fastly lodesi ?

Totally agree with you !! :-) This is exactly what I want !

[Wormux-dev] Windows installer is quite perfect ;-)

2006-06-07 Par sujet Victor STINNER
Hi Kurosu,

I asked a friend to install Wormux in a fresh Windows XP SP2 installation:
it works well. There is just a stupid bug in the installer: it proposes
E:\(...) instead of C:\(...) :-p

Wormux is fast (55 fps) but still buggy :-)

It's mid-automake, mid-make in this case :)

So Jean or Kurosu, can you check it ?

It works.

Is that the reason why the current SVN version displays 0.7.3 instead of the
update date?

If such need arise to change such text, why not creating a proper tag or even
a branch so as to release bugfixed (no additional content/features)
x.y.z-pathch_level versions?

Hello,

despite your reply-to, I'm posting this mail to wormux-dev. Also, I'm not
cc'ing the guy who was inquiring about the win32 setup.

Victor STINNER wrote:

Unquoted $ which gets interpreted by bash. I've attached a patch for this
problem, and I've also changed a bit the way it works (what dlls get
stripped): I've noticed by updating the Gtkmm SDK that iconv and friends are
back playing hide and seek with strip (ie strip corrupts those files).

Wormux is fast (55 fps) but still buggy :-)

What kind of bugs? win32-only or ?

Best regards,
Kurosu
