[weewx-user] Max/min Daily/Monthly/Yearly sum

2022-09-25 Thread michael.k...@gmx.at
How to calculatate the maximum or minimum daily/monthly/yearly sum of a
value?

E.g.: the wettest day of the month (so far)? The wettest month of the
year(so far)? The wettest day of the year (so far)? The wettest year? The
wettest month of all time? The wettest day of all time?

The dryest day of the month? The dryest month of the year? The
dryest year? The dryest month of all time?

And how to exclude the current month, year for these calculations? From the
1st of January's point of view, the current year is probably the dryest
year of all time, from the 1st of the current month's view, the current
month is probably the dryest of the year, at least ex aequo.

[weewx-user] Need help for a "fresh" upgrade

2022-09-25 Thread Yves Martin
Hi,

I'm using weewx since years now and it works like a charm. I've decided to
upgrade my old version 3.9.2 to the last one 4.8.x ... and in the same
time, change the Raspberry Pi 2 to the version 4. The objective is to be
able to use the AirLink from Davis and integrate it in the meteo station.
For that, I need a more recent version, and an upgrade of python.

What I did :
- Installed a fresh new version of Debian on a new Raspberry Pi 4b.
Copied all files on my weewx to the new one following the documentation :

WeeWX root directoryWEEWX_ROOT/
ExecutablesBIN_ROOT/usr/share/weewx/
Configuration directoryCONFIG_ROOT/etc/weewx/
Skins and templatesSKIN_ROOT/etc/weewx/skins/
SQLite databasesSQLITE_ROOT/var/lib/weewx/
Web pages and imagesHTML_ROOT/var/www/html/weewx/
DocumentationDOC_ROOT/usr/share/doc/weewx/
ExamplesEXAMPLE_ROOT/usr/share/doc/weewx/examples/
User directory/usr/share/weewx/user

then I try to upgrade the version I have to the version 4 : /etc/weewx#
dpkg -i python-weewx_4.0.0-1_all.deb

My issue is, the upgrade do not use my old "weewx.conf" and will create a
new conf file...

Is there something I've missed?

Regards,
YMartin.com/meteo

Re: [weewx-user] Max/min Daily/Monthly/Yearly sum

2022-09-25 Thread Tom Keffer
That's a lot of questions! Answer to a few of them:

Wettest day of the month: $month.rain.maxsum
Time of the wettest day of the month: $month.rain.maxsumtime
Driest day of the month: $month.rain.minsum
Time of the driest day of the month: $month.rain.minsumtime

Similar pattern for the wettest / driest day of the year.
Similar pattern for the wettest / driest day for all time (use tag $alltime)

To get wettest/driest month or year would require some custom code
(aggregates like ".maxsum" work only for days). You can either write a custom
search list extension , or a custom
xtypes aggregation
.

See the xtypes extension weewx-xtypes
. You may find it useful if for no
other reason than as a guide to how to write a custom aggregation. It
wouldn't be hard to extend it to do things like historical highs and lows
for months and years.

Re: [weewx-user] Current Weather Conditions Weather Graphic

2022-09-25 Thread vince
It is not unusual for sites to block access to/from certain countries if
there are believed to be patterns of attempted attacks from their network
address blocks. Yes, source addresses can be spoofed but if you geolocate
addresses blocked by fail2ban etc. there are some definite patterns you can
reveal that are rather consistent.

Schools also usually have very limited IT staff so they can tend to block
more by default as a perceived safety measure.

[weewx-user] Re: Current Weather Conditions Weather Graphic

2022-09-25 Thread vince

Your template spelled ‘Weather’ incorrectly in the top line.

I overlay text on a webcam image via a cron job that reads conditions from
a text file weewx writes via my custom skin. That is not ‘realtime’ but
updating every 5 minutes is fast enough for me.

Your beautiful png would be much harder to do but it would likely be
possible the same way, but it would take a lot of trial and effort.

Conceptually the same approach would work. Save a file with the data and
overlay on a base image. This is a place cron works great on.

That looks similar to the ouput of wxgraphic. A php script that
generates a png file from clientraw.txt. It returns a png file upon a
server request to wxgraphic.php. You obviously still need a web facing
server that can hadle php files, and that's not located in the Czech
Republic.!

https://saratoga-weather.org/wxtemplates/plugins.php
https://saratoga-weather.org/legacy-scripts/wxgraphic_6.3.zip

The files origins are available via the web archive.
https://web.archive.org/web/20130105094954/http://scripts.anolecomputer.com/wxgraphic/

Back in 2018 I was playing around with it and got it working with a
WL_stickertags file which provides suitable data via a cheetah
template, for an australian site.

https://www.australiawx.net/instructions.php

I co-opted that templates output but somethings changed in the
intervening years ... ie:- it needs tweaking to work again.

Interested? If so I'll spend some time on it, it's currently raining so...
