(Resend: Mail server rejects attachments - I sent the log as a zip'ed attachment. Here again as inline text). Hi Wez, Thanks for your response. Below please find the xev output for the following sequence of events: - Start up xev. - on the "real" keyboard press Alt-Gr + E and then space bar (Twice). - on the "real" keyboard press Alt-Gr + 2 (gives @) and then space bar (Twice). - on the VNC client keyboard press Alt-Gr + E and then space bar (Twice). - on the VNC client keyboard press Alt-Gr + 2 (gives @) and then space bar (Twice). Anyone has solution of the following issue? EDDIE Eddie Chan <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: Hi, When I use my ReadVNC viewer (4.0 or 4.1) to connect to a RealVNC server (service mode), I got the following errors after a few second of connection. read: Connection reset by peer (10054) I checked the mail list and found some people have the same problem but I don't see how it was resolved. Did anyone has further solution? Here are some other thing I have tried. When I connect with the web browser through port 5800 (http://myhost:5800), I have no problem stayed connected. I even checked and and found the ports on both viewer and server hosts "ESTABLISHED". It is just the problem using RealVNC viewer. I have other machines all running WinXP (SP2) and I have no problem connecting using ReadlVNC viewer or using the web browser. It is just this particular machine can't stay connected with RealVNC viewer. I also observed that this only happens when I tried to access any application on the remote host. If I don't do anything after the connection (no mouse or keyboard action), the connection stay. But once I move my mouse or keyboard for few second, the connection dropped. Any help is appreciated. Re: Unable to connect with Listening VNC Viewer
Hello Mick, Thanks for your thorough response to my email. >Is there a way to change the default value of the target port of 5500 >on the server side? Yes, go to the VNC server Connections tab. BTW, I thought that the default port is 5900, not 5500. We're not talking about the same port. The default port of 5900 is for accessing your PC on port 5900 from a client machine by doing it the "old fashioned" way. The port of 5500 is for the sole purpose of making the connection by using Listening VNC viewer on the client TO the server machine by having the server machine initiate the contact to the "listening" viewer client. (by right clicking on the VNC icon in the system tray then entering the IP address of the viewer machine while the viewer machine has the Listening VNC viewer running.) So, this is the port that my question was about, whether there is a way to change it somehow, even if it's through the registry. >How can I troubleshoot this problem? >From his home machine telnet into your . speaking of firewalls...EchoVNC 2.0 is now available
Right up front: thanks to the RealVNC guys for tolerating this release announcement on their email list. Just last week, we released version 2.00 of EchoVNC: the only VNC flavor with integrated echoWare, allowing VNC Viewers to connect to VNC Servers without either side having to adjust their firewall or router settings. No, really. Unlike previous versions, EchoVNC is now a full-featured VNC Server and VNC Viewer platform, rather than simply a connection utility for other VNC flavors. Source and binaries are available here: http://sourceforge.net/project/showfiles.php?group_id=133100 EchoVNC supports the following features: o Secure VNC sessions to Windows PC's behind unconfigured firewalls, routers, and web-proxies o A "See Who's Available" feature in the Viewer, for point-and-click connection initiation o A "dynamic-DNS" capability for VNC Servers without static IP addresses o End-to-end data security with OpenSSL's 128-bit AES encryption o Support for HTTP, SOCKS and ISA/NTLM web-proxies o Fully interoperable with other VNC flavors As EchoVNC is based (with thanks!) on [EMAIL PROTECTED], it also provides these capabilities: o Remote-desktoping with either VNC password or NT authentication o Bidirectional file-transfer o Real time chat window o Utilizes the open-source "Mirror Driver" for improved VNC performance As always, any questions/comments/suggestions are appreciated! thanks (and Happy New Year!), Scott ___ VNC-List mailing list VNC-List@realvnc.com To remove yourself from the list visit: http://www.realvnc.com/mailman/listinfo/vnc-list
