I'm currently using xineliboutput for my other client (on a standard
PC), so this would be my first choice, but I've no problem to switch
back to vdr-xine (which I used in the past - with the network patch... I
moved to xineliboutput just because I don't want to patch xine-lib
 everytime anymore..)

I may have misunderstood what you meant with frontends, but
xineliboutput *can* be used with other xine frontends, such as xine-ui,
without patching xine-lib.

[vdr] DXR3?

2007-12-01 Thread Rob Davis
I have a couple of SkyStar cards on a VDR server, running xineliboutput
on an NVidia card using a VGA cable to my HDTV. I am seeing lagging,
tearing and noticeable interlacing.

Is it worth buying a DXR3 on ebay?

A dxr3 only decodes mpeg at standard resolution, it does it very well
and with good quality, but it's of no use for HD. It also has many
stability problems with the osd (it was designed to display dvd menus
and subtitles, not a full-fledged, full-screen, full-color osd, so the
vdr plugin pushes it to its limits and beyond).

Re: [vdr] Xineliboutput and G550

2007-12-01 Thread Kimmo Taskinen
Thanks for the answers. I also got personal mail with patch for the
DirectFB color problem. With DirectFB I could not get good enough
deinterlace setup. And I could not solve the tearing problem with XV.
But fortunately I got very good result with vidixfb video driver.

/usr/bin/vdr-fbfe --video vidixfb --fullscreen --aspect=auto --post
tvtime:method=Greedy2Frame,cheap_mode=0,pulldown=0,framerate_mode=full,use_progressive_frame_flag=1
--reconnect

mode "1280x720-50"
# D: 74.250 MHz, H: 37.500 kHz, V: 50.000 Hz
geometry 1280 720 1280 720 32
timings 13468 212 448 20 5 40 5
hsync high
vsync high
accel true
rgba 8/16,8/8,8/0,8/24
endmode

CPU load is about 35% with Athlon 2500+ XP-M.
