  Ken,

Actually the test was made with a local delivery line, and local
delivery line + &address line.

And qmail-local is no updating the maildirsize file. I'd like to fix it
myself, but I am not quite a good C developer

2003-06-04 Thread Alfredo Perez
   Ken,

I posted a message a few weeks ago about the maildirsize patch by Bill
Shupp. I found a bug, but I don't know where the problem is.

After applying the patch qmail-pop3d and qmail-local will update the
maildirsize file BUT if there is a .qmail file in the user maildir is
will NOT be updated. Now, I don't know if this is a problem with the
qmail binaries or perhaps a vdelivermail problem.

Since this is a maildirsize thread I find useful posting this message
and I hope this can help fixing all maildirsize problems.

Check you /var/qmail/users/assign file to make sure that the virtual domain's
path is correct.

Did you look at your logs at all to see if it says anything? Did you try
restarting qmail (not sure if it necessary, but just in case)? How did you
setup the virtual domain with vpopail (did you use vadddomainr?)?

[vchkpw] password learning with courier-imap

2003-06-04 Thread Raymond Popowich

Hello,

I have noticed that on my test installation which allows both pop and
courier-imap (using only vchkpw auth) that if I create an account with no
password (vadduser -n [EMAIL PROTECTED]), imap logins are always a success but
the password is not learned.

If the user uses pop to connect the password is learned, but until then
the account can use any password to connect using the imap connection.

Is it possible for passwords to also be learned from an imap connection?

If not, is it possible to make the imap connection fail if there is no
password set, forcing the user to pop at least 1 time to set the password?

Once the password is set with pop the imap connections work as expected,
only allowing the login if the correct password is supplied.

I am using vpopmail 5.3.16 and courier-imap 1.7.3.

Thank you.

I think the changes I made might address the problem you are seeing.
If the quota is changed for any reason, the vpopmail library will
automatically rebuild the maildirsize file.

I would be good to test if the .qmail file contains a local delivery line
like: /home/vpopmail/domains/domain.com/user/Maildir/
If qmail-local updates the maildirsize file. I expect it would.

[vchkpw] vpopmail + spamassassin

2003-06-04 Thread David du SERRE-TELMON
Hi,

1 month again, I've sent an email on this in order to apply spamassin filter

Some of you said me to use spamd instead of calling spamassassin from
procmail.
It work fine, thank you, but know, spam aren't encapsulate in attachements
(default), and I can't rewrite subjets (I've put in config file :
rewrite_subject 1).

Spamassassin work fine, because it add spam status Yes/No in header, but it
would change anything in the mail (subject ou attach).

Anybody have an idea ?

Thank you

I am assuming it has to do with vchkpw or some other user verification. The

Yes... is it possible to give valias some better help?

Existing:
valias: usage: [options] email_address
options: -v ( display the vpopmail version number )
-s ( show aliases, can use just domain )
 -d ( delete alias )
 -i alias_line (insert alias line)

I would suggest:
valias: usage: [options] alias_address [user_address]
options: -v ( display the vpopmail version number )
-s [EMAIL PROTECTED] ( show aliases, can list entire domain )
 -d alias_address ( delete alias )
 -i new_alias_address existing_user_address (insert a new alias)

I would also like to recommend that valias and vaddaliasdomain use the same
type of syntax as ln -- as in valias existing_user new_alias... confusing
as all get-out, especially without a better 'quick help' as indicated
above.

Andrew

2003-06-04 Thread Jeff Garvas

> The problem is actually related to the permissions on the /etc dir.

Right. I figured that out after I posted. I was running tcpserver as
vpopmail and trying to write to /etc (Actually, vchkpw was, I didn't really
care if it updated tcp.smtp)

> Now if you want to go with the database patch that Matt Simerson
> has... You
> need to use the -X option in your tcpserver line instead of the -x which

Ah. I have not gotten that far, but you're right, I remember that now.

> The patch is applied to tcpserver, but not to vpopmail which still
> recompiles tcp.stmp.cdb on each iteration... So I believe that is what is
> causing your problem.

I actually solved this by recompiling vpopmail and defining the tcpserver
file in /home/vpopmail/etc/tcp.smtp -- this fixed it, and I set the
permissions back to vpopmail:vchkpw in the script spawning tcpserver for
pop3d.

That is solved. Here is what I am confused with. In the INSTALL file for
vpopmail 5.2.1 in item #13 it says:

"For sites using the mysql module and --enable-roaming-users=y it is highly
suggested to use Matt Simersons tcpserver-mysql patch. This removes the need
for vpopmail to compile a tcp.smtp.cdb file for each pop authentication.
Instead, tcpserver looks directly into the vpopmail mysql table of IP's."

So, my question is, since I compiled with mysql and roaming users enabled,
and since I intend to fully utilize the patch, how do I tell
vchkpw/tcpserver to stop compiling the cdb file with EAHC pop
authentication?

I know its a small concern. It won't hurt anything. But this paragraph
suggests that you can eliminate the overhead of running tcprules on this
file every time someone successfully authenticates, and I'd like to do that
due to the high volume of POP requests I'm dealing with.

Is there a configure option i'm missing or is the documentation simply
talking about "the need" and not suggesting that its possible to disable the
recompile step that is now not needed at all?

The problem is actually related to the permissions on the /etc dir.

Now if you want to go with the database patch that Matt Simerson has... You
need to use the -X option in your tcpserver line instead of the -x which
uses the tcp.smtp file.

The patch is applied to tcpserver, but not to vpopmail which still
recompiles tcp.stmp.cdb on each iteration... So I believe that is what is
causing your problem.

tcprules: fatal: unable to create /etc/tcp.smtptmp.23892 (or some other pid)

Clearly it's trying to dump the database and re-write tcp.smtp based on the
values in mysql, but I'd prefer to use the tcpserver hack that queries the
same database and defines RELAYCLIENT instead of looking at a tcp.smtp.cdb.

Does anyone know why this is happening?

Can I disable it and just use mysql for relaying instead of constantly
recompiling the CDB file? (I'm letting users SMTP from one machine and pop
from another)

Look at Freeside, Optigold ISP or Billmax. Each has that ability (and

want, but the chances of expiring users making it into Vpopmail in the

[vchkpw] Vpopmail and Qconfirm

2003-06-04 Thread Gerardo Arnaez

Hello
I have written a qmail-vpopmail-qmailadmin mini how to
on debian. It is on http://mung.net I am open for
suggestiong. In trying to improve this how to I
thought about providing some antispam, and came upon
qconfirm, which I just really like

Is there anything I can read (ive read the how-tos and
googles for help) on getting qconfirm to work with
vpopmail? I have read about adding QCOMFIRM_PREPEND,
but that leaves me with qmail just boucing messeages
inside itself.

any help would be appreciaed, pointes, examples,
thanks!

I have qmailadmin to show a check box that is checked if there is the

have in user.c to add the line,"|/var/qmail/bin/preline

Yes, I think some sort of dotfile would be the best. Then any number of
tools could use it.

Suggestion, for those of us that use sql user prefs. If the dotfile is
present but empty, just make the connection to spamc/spamd, assuming that
vpopmail support in spamassassin is being used. If there's text in the
dotfile, use that for the -u option

2003-06-04 Thread David du SERRE-TELMON
You're right, in order to use this feature, it's necessary to disabled
fast-spamassin.

For information, for doing that, you have to configure qmailscanner with
parameter --scanners "verbose_spamassassin" (default paramater is
fast_spamassassin).
If you use F-Prot anti-virus, do that : ./configure --scanners
"fprot,verbose_spamassassin" [...]

Another question, anyboby know how add a message on all outgoing message ?

Thank you

[vchkpw] Toasters with POP-Before-SMTP

2003-06-04 Thread Ben Ullian
does anyone know of a qmail toaster setup guide (with or without mysql
-- I dont care, cdb is fine) that describes how to implement POP/IMAP
before SMTP with vpopmail?

I'm not even sure if IMAP before SMTP is possible, but if so, it would
be good (i'd be using Courier-IMAP).

I had a toaster set up a while ago which required POP-before-SMTP, but
I recompiled Qmail to use mysql and since then I have had open relay
issues, yet i can't seem to find the original guide i used. I'd be
willing to ditch mysql entirely and do the first installation again, as
long as the solution has pop-before-smtp/imap-before-smtp.

Funny I just modified qmailadmin to incorporate similar features. I would like
to get involved in this project and contribute but with the condition that it
will make it to the official qmailadmin code so that I can benefit from future
code.
My implementation is done at the domain level rather than at the user's level,
i.e. put either vdelivermail or maildrop filter into .qmail-default. This is
my own hack to get qmail/vpopmail/maildrop/spamassassin to work in my
environment, but I'm opened to any discussions.

I dont have any code, but before you release a stable version, perhaps
[at least] one issue should be fixed...

I have seen a few threads (one titled "pipes in .qmail-files vpopmail
5.3.19" archived at
http://bluedot.net/mail/archive/read.php?f=2&i=10863&t=10863 for example)
where the seekable patch seems not to work on Solaris 2.8 vdelivermail
core dumps
if you try to pipe anything into it. Marcus Williams seemed to be helping
out, but the
thread ended abruptly after a request was made to go off-list :-/

I have ran into the same problem on Solaris 2.8. It is also replicable on
Solaris 2.9.

This issue doesnt seem to be resolved as of the latest code; I am assuming
this may be because none of the vpopmail team have solaris 2.8/2.9? If this
is the case, I can gladly set up a shell on a box with solaris 2.8/2.9 for
testing.

I have also done a similar thing. I am now working on modifying
vpopmail/qmailadmin to put this information in individual users .qmail
files. This is because my domain method fell apart when email was
addressed to an alias, or caught by a domain catchall address. With
individual .qmail files, the -u option for spamc can be specified
manually in the mailfilter file.. This means it is the mailbox not the
address which is protected.

Ben,

Just read the vpopmail directions on --enable-roaming-users=y as a
./configure option.

It tells you what you need to do. You can use mysql or a flat file to store
the files, it doesn't matter.

As for the POP-before-imap I can't tell you off the top of my head. I have
not tackled it yet.

RE: Re[4]: [vchkpw] SpamAssassin/vmodinfo changes

2003-06-04 Thread Jeff Garvas

Joe,

Have you considered writing this out to SQL for SA?

I'm not sure of the SA table format off the top of my head, but some people
have given up on running SA locally out of .qmail files and run it "for
every domain" and sometimes on a machine well before the system mail is
eventually delivered too.

Of course, I've given up on enabling/disabling it for individual users and
just turn it on (with everything hidden in the headers so it isn't obvious
it's even on) for entire domains.

You may find more flexibility if you change options in the mysql backend for
SA instead of poking changes into .qmail files. Just my personal opinion.

[vchkpw] vpasswd file is 0 size when hit quota limit

2003-06-04 Thread Yee Siew Chin
Hi,

I had set the following for a domain as below:-

vadddomain -u user1 user1.com password

Then, I set the quota using the command:-

edquota user1

With the following information inside edquota:-

Disk quotas for user user1 (uid 519):
  Filesystem blocks soft
hard inodes soft hard
  /dev/md0 80 83886
8388642400

Now the disk quotas grow, here is what I have:-

Disk quotas for user user1 (uid 519):
  Filesystem blocks soft
hard inodes soft hard
  /dev/md0 84810 83886
8388642400

And, I notice that all the users in the domain
user1.com can't login via POP3 service to check email.
Even can't received email via SMTP service. I notice
that the vpasswd file is now 0 bytes. The vpasswd.cdb
is 2048 bytes.

When I try to view the vpasswd file, nothing is inside
the file. How can I recover the vpasswd file from the
vpasswd.cdb? Can it be recover?

Is the way I do quota correct? Any suggestion?
How can I use warnquota to help me on this?
Thank you.

Rgds,
Yee
