[vchkpw] Change an account name?

2003-05-29 Thread Dave Richardson - Lists
I don't see a command to change a username for a vpopmail account.
Is there a procedure to simply change the name of an account without
having to literally pick up a maildir manually and drop it into a "new"
account for the new name?

[vchkpw] Patch for logging

2003-05-29 Thread Maurice Snellen
Listmembers,

When vpopmail is told to log pop3 logins (including passwords) this
doesn't work for system accountes (--enable-passwd); the attached
patch fixes this.

Ok I will look into that, thank you.

That works quite well and is suitable for my purposes at the moment, but I
will verify the above as well... Thank you!

[vchkpw] Not sure if this is a qmail or vpopmail issue -- Relaying denied

2003-05-29 Thread Dallas Wright
I have a qmail server with vpopmail .. 2 virtual domains
ablemore.com and athenia.org.

I can send mail to ablemore.com addresses, but if I send to athenia.org
addresses, I get a Relaying denied bounce
this is what my rcpthosts file looks like

localhost
192.168.0.100
ablemore.com
athenia.org

I can log into accounts on both domains using a pop mail client.

Hi,

What IP Address is that machine on? When I dnsip athenia.org I get

216.218.213.246 216.218.213.243 216.218.213.244 216.218.213.245

Do you have it in the rcpthosts for all those machines?

Regards,

Rick

that machine is on mail.athenia.org
The mail server is on my local lan and has port forwarding to the outside
world
I can send to [EMAIL PROTECTED] from [EMAIL PROTECTED] but any attempt to send
mail to [EMAIL PROTECTED] from ANY other address, results in the relaying
denied msg.

2003-05-29 Thread Rick Macdougall
Hi,

Are you sure? When I telnet to those IP's on port 25 I get

220 afraid.org ESMTP Sendmail 8.12.9/8.12.9 bla bla bla (well at least
your sendmail is up to date)

Doesn't look like it is port forwarding correctly. I think the sendmail
setup may need to add athenia.org to it's access file with a RELAY
statement.

Regards,

Rick

those ips are setup for irc, thats why the mail server is on
mail.athenia.org
if I telnet to that, I get microsft esmtp, which I assume is the listener
for the forward service built into ICS

i'm sorry i miss Michael Bowe point of view
dont Geoff Sweet ask about sending bounced message to virtual domain rather than
localmachinename ?

yes there is some problem handling email bounce on virtual domain and had them fixed
that problem with their client
but i dont see any problem with simple program that placed on .qmail postmaster
localmachine that parsing email and sending to postmaster virtual machine
i dont had that kind program yet, but that a simple program and all person with some
education on programming can do that him self
nor perhaps hire freelance programmer to do that

ps.
im sorry if i miss some point of view my self
im not native on english but i still learning here :)
im sorry if this not on the topic of vpopmail

danke thought

Re: [vchkpw] Change an account name?

2003-05-29 Thread dWi sAsonO b
just change pw_name, change pw_dir, and move whole user directory
watch out for broken dependency if you change pw_name only
i dont know vadduser check user directory if it create new user
and validity check with all user registration like vregister, etc

Subject: [vchkpw] SpamAssassin, Vpopmail, conditional handling on Spam Score?
I'm running the QMAILQUEUE patch with SpamAssassin into Vpopmail with
Mysql and Courier.
I'm running SpamAssassin with spam threashold "required_hits" = 8.

I allow direct delivery to the mailbox, but it is subject prefixed
"[SPAM]" (thus it is Spam Tagged)
What I'd like to do is add another "threashold" (probably in SA?) where
the spam score of >15 is sent to /dev/null. Scores from 7-14.99 are
spam tagged (and delivered) and scores less than 7 are not spam tagged.
(I've been seeing spam scores as high as 28.8 recently BTW)
Is there a "normal" way to do this?
D.

If you asked this question over at the SpamAssassin list, they would advise against sending high scoreing hits to /dev/null. There are two main reasons. One is (believe it or not) you actually could get a false positive removed. This usually happens with html based newsletters. The other reason is that high scores are useful for training the Bayes filtering.

Just something to keep in mind.
