How to implement custom transform class

2022-10-17 Thread Teresa McMains
Hi. I have a client using solr version 5.5.x. We're using solr within a third
party application which calls a URL to return some documents which it will
display on a web page. The URL has become ridiculously long and I would like to
switch it to use a custom transformer and have read the documentation at:
https://solr.apache.org/guide/8_6/transforming-result-documents.html but I'm
not entirely sure what I'm doing, aside from maybe using a subquery? Could
someone help set me on the right path? Our URL is below. The field aliases are
necessary to permit everything to display as the client wants it.

Many thanks!
Teresa

Hi.

This is not compiling as in javac. This is java’s JIT compilation; when
_running_ SOLR.

Also - solr now has an official docker image, and this is built with java 17,
which tends to crash. I think it’s unfortunate to provide such an image with a
known critical bug when the workaround is just to provide on with java 11.

Regards,

Fredrik

Creating an image based on JDK 11 is being worked on here:

Re: Solr Contributor Bootcamp announced to coincide with ApacheCon USA

2022-10-17 Thread Jason Gerlowski
Hey all,

Wanted to give a quick update (and additional "plug") on this front.

After a bit of delay, we're finally ready to kick things off with a
short 1-hour discussion, "Contributing to Solr", as a sort of
interactive, informal demo of how to get started in the community and
in contributing. (We have follow-up sessions and other activities
(e.g. office hours, etc.) in mind as well, but wanted to get this one
on the calendar first and then re-evaluate.)

We'd love for anyone interested to attend (whether they've reached out
to one of us previously, or not). There's no preparation required,
but attendees should plan to join from their development environment
of choice in case they want to follow along with any of the setup
we'll be going through.

To simplify scheduling and in hopes of accommodating as many time
zones as we can, we’re aiming to hold this discussion in two time
slots, both on this coming Thursday, October 20th.

Option 1: 9:00am EST (2pm GMT) using the following Zoom link:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/86936847178
Option 2: 4:00pm EST (9pm GMT) using the following Zoom link:
https://us02web.zoom.us/j/82503480742

Knowing those time slots won't work for everyone, we're considering a
third option later. Let us know if you are interested but unable to
attend. We're also hoping to record the sessions and make them
available for async viewing, for those who can't attend any of the
options.

Looking forward to meeting folks on Thursday!

Best,

Jason

Re: HTTP ERROR 500 java.lang.NoClassDefFoundError: Lorg/apache/lucene/index/Term

2022-10-17 Thread Matthew Castrigno
Hello Jan,
In an attempt to workaround this issue I re-created my core but ran into the
issue again after adding a script with the script update processor and then
adding a default parameter of json.command= false.

Do you have any suggestions as to a work around? Can I expect the unix version
to behave any differently?

Thank you,
Matthew Castrigno

Re: How to implement custom transform class

2022-10-17 Thread Mikhail Khludnev
Hello, Teresa.
It doesn't seem to like a case for the result transformer.
Note:
- Huge parameters can be sent via POST (and even get) in the request
body/payload. Here's an example
$curl --request GET --url http://localhost:8984/solr/testcore/select
--header 'content-type: application/x-www-form-urlencoded' --data 'q=*:*'
Btw, colleagues, is it described anywhere in the ref guide?

- long static fl param can be configured as default handler param
https://solr.apache.org/guide/solr/latest/configuration-guide/requesthandlers-searchcomponents.html#defaults
- large rows values can burn one's CPU, it's rather preferable scroll
results with cursors see
https://solr.apache.org/guide/solr/latest/query-guide/pagination-of-results.html#performance-problems-with-deep-paging

Enjoy
