Re: open office reinstall - lost to computer repair

2018-02-04 Thread Bill Arsenault
Or go to System Preferences, Security and Privacy, Allow apps downloaded from:,
and select Anywhere. Then do the installation and then change the Alllow apps
downloaded from setting back to your setting before the installation.

This is caused by Apple Gatekeepe. Details are at
https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT202491
You have to tell GateKeeper to trust this application and permit it to install.

As I mentioned, just go to www.openoffice.org and download for free. I
have no idea where that fee suggestion came from, as I've never seen it.

OO crashes on opening file

2018-02-05 Thread Bill Arsenault
OpenOffice 4.1.5 on a 2010 MacBook Pro running OSX El Capitan 10.11.6 crashes,
usually on about the 4th or 5th file that I open. It could even be the previous
file closed. Once OO opens again, it works just fine for about 4 or 5 files and
then crashes again. I tried deleting the preference file in
~/library/preferences. Should I also delete the entire openoffice folder in
~/library/application support? Below is a copy of the text from the beginning
of the crash report.

Thanks,
Bill
