Re: Icons

2019-08-05 Thread Steven Ahlers
Randy,

It sounds as though you’ve downloaded from a site that is not the official
site. You should go back on your timeline before you downloaded this bundle of
software.

Then go to:
https://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html
the official site to download the software. When you start the download you
will be redirected to a Source Forge site that is the mirror site that hosts
the download install. DO NOT CLICK ON ANY BUTTONS ON THIS SITE. This will
download the exe file to install OpenOffice which will give you the one icon to
start the program. Once the program is installed you can delete the install exe
file.

Please respond to:
users@openoffice.apache.org
so that all users can help you.

Problems with installing open office on the MacBook Air

2019-08-05 Thread Alla Kristina Lozenko
Hello,

I have just bought a macbook air 2018 model and it does not allow me to install
the open office saying that it has been downloaded from the unknown source (I
downloaded it from your website). It says that Apple allows to download only
from App Store and from the verified sources..

How can I solve this problem?

Thanks a lot
Alla

If you had read the release notes at
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.1.6+Release+Notes#AOO4.1.6ReleaseNotes-FormacOSusers
you would have seen this:

 For macOS users

 * Apache OpenOffice 4.1.6 will be flagged by the Gatekeeper facility in
macOS. This is a
feature to help guard against malware on macOS systems.
o For OS X up to 10.11 "El Capitan": There is a procedure laid out at
the following
link to allow applications not installed from the Mac App store to
run. See theMac
   support article .
 o For macOS 10.12 "Sierra" (/and newer)/: In Finder, Control-click or
right click the
icon of the app. Select Open from the top of contextual menu that
appears. Click
Open in the dialog box. If prompted, enter an administrator name and
password. This
is needed just the first time you launch Apache OpenOffice.

Re: Problems with installing open office on the MacBook Air

2019-08-05 Thread Steven Ahlers
This is an issue with the Gatekeeper to prevent malware installation.
OpenOffice downloaded from
https://www.openoffice.org/download/index.html
Is safe. Please read the instructions at the above address or look at the
information at Apple Help on Gatekeeper.

The simplest and safest way to get around the Gatekeeper has been to Right
Click (Control Click) on the OpenOffice icon and follow the instructions to
allow the program to run.

If you have any further questions please address them to the users list address:

unable to open a specific document

2019-08-05 Thread Harvey Fishero
Sirs,

I have a 1.2 MB document I’ve filed in Documents as I’ve opened it to add to it
and closed it. The last time I opened it, February of this year, it wouldn’t
open. Somehow, I got it to open in Pages. I did my work on the document and
closed it. At that time I checked to see that it was stored back into
Documents. I cannot open it now. When I click on it and then click on the
“Open” box, the screen reverts to the opening screen for Apache Open Office
(offers choices of Text Document, Spreadsheet, Presentation, Open, Drawing,
Database, Formula, Templates). Other documents filed in Documents are opening
ok.

Help, please?

Re: unable to open a specific document

2019-08-05 Thread Craig Russell
Hi,

When you worked on the document in Pages, it was saved as a pages document.

To use it with OpenOffice, open it again with Pages and export it to Word
format.

You should now be able to open the document with OpenOffice by right clicking
the file and using "Open with... OpenOffice".

Regards,

Craig
