This can happen if the OpenOffice user profile becomes corrupt. You should
delete or rename the user profile.

As you are using Windows do this by:

Close OpenOffice and the Quickstarter. Open File Explorer. Copy and paste
%appdata%\OpenOffice\4 in the File Explorer Address Bar and press Enter. Delete
or Rename the "user" folder. Start OpenOffice.

You need to force the page to refresh or to clear your browser cache. After the
refresh the 4.1.2 should show up.

4.1.2 showed up fine for me on the front page. ( ).

Downloaded and installed fine. Running happily away on my ancient Dell

The install seemed a tad slow, but I ecpect that is a function of the
relatively old / slow CPU and the XP.

No internal OpenOffice v4.1.2 update for installed v4.1.1?

2015-10-30 Thread Ant
Hello.

I saw that OO v4.1.2 yesterday, so I checked my currently installed OO
v4.1.1's internal updater but it told me there was no newer version
(v4.1.2). How come? I'd like to use the internal smaller updated files
instead of the huge full install files to upgrade. If it matters, this
was on my very old, updated Windows XP Pro SP3 desktop machine.

Thank you in advance. :)

Additionally, it is expected that 4.1.1 does not report any updates at the
moment. To avoid traffic peaks, we will enable update notifications
gradually in the next 7-10 days. See
https://cwiki.apache.org/confluence/display/OOOUSERS/AOO+4.1.2
for the detailed plan (you will see that the update feeds are the only item
still kept on hold).

Anyway, Rory is right: the check for update just sends you to the download
page. So it is perfectly equivalent to opening the website and then
downloading/installing the new version.

Regards,
  Andrea.

Ah, it is still a regular full installer to download. That's a bummer.
Thanks. In the future, there should be smaller upgrade files instead.

It is Word Program in the package I purchased?

What package are we talking about?
If you mean OpenOffice you should not pay for it as this is open source
(means free)
Best thing is throw it in the trash bin and download a fresh copy from
www.openoffice.org

What is it called if necessary.

In OpenOffice it's called Writer.

Can you help me to install it?

Two questions Henry,

1. What website, the URL please (http://), did you download the
software from?
2. What antivirus software, title and version please?

If the software came from the official site, http://www.openoffice.org, it
is unlikely to have a virus. And some antivirus products have given false
positives when scanning OpenOffice.

On the other hand if the software came from some other website it may or
may not contain a virus. OpenOffice is open source and as a result anyone
can put anything into it that they wish, enhancements or viruses.
