However, since Writer has a Table item on the main menu and a Sort sub-item on that menu I am presuming you are referring to Writer. For the "Sort" selection to be active it is necessary to first select rows/columns in the table. Sort will then work on the selected rows/columns. This enables sorting only a portion of a table based on need. e.g. table has a header and data rows underneath, don't want to sort the header as part of the data, select all the rows underneath the header row and then perform the sort. If you were referring to Sort in one of the other OpenOffice programs please indicate which program you are attempting to sort in. Thank you.

Help with deleted content
OpenOfffice has now deleted the content of 2 very long documents that I saved multiple times and created backups for. Each time I opened the document, all of the content was replaced with page after page of pound keys. I haven't found any useful information through forums or on your website on retrieving these documents, and I would like to know if there's anyway to save my work instead of having to start over again. Please get back to me soon.
Re: Help with deleted content
Operating system? Version of OpenOffice? Did you download your cop of OpenOffice *only from *www.openoffice.org? It is extremely unlikely that your files have been deleted. Re: Help with deleted content
Are you working with ODF? This is important since using DOC or DOCX might be lost in convertion, specially if you are using some odd content in the document (like flash inserts or something similar) also known as binary objects.
