OpenOffice.org 3 folder

2014-09-04 Thread Phoebus Lorenzo
I recently installed OpenOffice 4.1.1 but there is still an OpenOffice.org 3
folder on my hard drive. Can I safely delete this folder?

Thank you,
Phoebus

Yes, but if you have any customisation, such as special dictionaries or
autocomplete entries, you should bring these forward to OO 4. If not, just
delete te 3 folder.

This is tracked in this bug
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/show_bug.cgi?id=121930

The advice should be: first, locate the user profile and then remove the
folders named "uno_packages" and "extensions", this has been reported to
work in most cases, there is no need to delete the whole user profile.
If this does not work, then remove/rename the whole user profile.

UNCLEAR

2014-09-04 Thread THEQ Info
Hello Guys.
I wanted to update my Open Office. But I really do not know, what is the
difference between those 2:
- Download full installation
- Download language pack

Which one shall I download. It is very unclear. Please, in the future, add some
explanation.

Thanks a lot and thank you for your work.

OPEN OFFICE - NEW RELEASE

2014-09-04 Thread Jim Ludlam
Hi

Having found OO very useful I'd like to update to 4.1.1.1 per your message.
However the question about identifying the platform beats me.

I'm using OS X 10.6.8.

Thanks

Le devi installare dall'apposito menu.
Poi, cosa fa, dipende dalla estensione.
A voolte è necessario riavviare OO.
ciao

Download full installation pack for your desired language. The language pack is
to allow working in a second (or more) languages,

Your platform is OS X 10.6.8. Select that in the dropdown on the download page.

OpenOffice 4.1.0 and 4.1.1 require OS X 10.7 or newer.

"OS X 32-bit" is the value you should set for platform, and you will get
a warning saying that the latest version of OpenOffice we have available
for you is 4.0.1.

mailing list in inglese. Per richieste in italiano usare
utenti...@openoffice.apache.org o il forum http://forum.openoffice.org

Saluti,
  Andrea Pescetti.

Guys,
thank You a lot for your inputs. And sorry for the little misunderstanding. You
are users, as me, of course. I was just little bit in a hurry and I found this
email. Anyway, my question was answered and so - big thank you to all of you
for that.
Have a great day.

Re: OpenOffice is not picking localized strings from SANE backend

I am part of a group who writes SANE Backend.
We observed that,
1) OpenOffice* is not showing our localized strings*(from our .mo files) in
the Scanner UI.
It is always showing in English.
2) XSANE shows our localized strings correctly.

The dev list is the best one for any follow-up:
http://openoffice.apache.org/mailing-lists.html#development-mailing-list-public

Can you clarify where you expect to see the messages? Is that in a
dialog that should interact with the scanner? The main window, Insert -
Picture - Scan - Select Source (this one: http://i.imgur.com/5NaPNBO.png
) is correctly localized for me in the Italian version, but those
strings are all defined in the OpenOffice source code and localized as
part of the ordinary OpenOffice UI, and are not the result of
interacting with the backend.

Where are the strings that you see in English?

Regards,
  Andrea.
