Can you Produce a "Quality" EBook with Open Office or Open Office Writer...

2014-08-07 Thread SEANWHITE06
Hi,
I am a writer, and I have been pleasantly taken aback by Open
Office... I had been struggling with Word 2003 for years, and not realised
your
own program had progressed so much, and was quite so comprehensive!

Nevertheless the links did not work for information, which I wished to
ascertain, so I was left with little option, but to contact yourselves in
regard to these.

Firstly, I have a rather successful writing friend, who wishes for me to
use Scrivener, due to the fact that this is particularly useful in producing
an Ebook, which I intend to launch my next book as: _The Tallest Dwarf_
(http://www.quirkyclaus.com/The_Tallest_Dwarf_Comic_Fantasy_Books.htm) <<<
*Link !

However I am finding the program almost prohibitively difficult to
utilise...
The Tallest Dwarf, comprises as well as the main storyline - of course...
"extensive" footnotes, which 'must' be presented to their optimum in a
future production of the EBook.

What is "Open Office Writer" for instance... I like Open Office, but
well... is 'this' really what I'd be better using?

I am quite reluctant to use Scrivener for creating the format to an EBook,
as well only not is the program difficult to comprehend, I do not really
find the mechanism appealing.

Any assistance you may offer in this please...?

Have you ever so wondered, what the naughty children get for Christmas,
and whosoever happens to deliver… these little rascal’s presents?
If perhaps this is the case, without a shadow of a doubt this is the story
for you…
Quirky Claus is the alternative tale of a mischievous Santa who with his
not always so loyal of friend’s Timothy the Toucan or A.K.A: Timothy,
(surname – Toucan) lives’ deep in the snowy depths of the South Pole.

However, be careful to be good before Christmas, because if Quirky Claus
hears you “have” been naughty?
You may instead get all kinds of strange and weird presents in your

extremely

the qualities without the merest doubt – children
surreptitiously aspire to!

I have OpenOffice 3.4 on my computer and I notice that there are some features
unavailable or not highlighted in the pull down.  Can you tell me how to get
access to these features? Specifically, categories Wrap, Anchor, Arrange, and
Alignment, all under Format.

Change default browser

2014-08-07 Thread "J. Van Brimmer"
I have OO-4.1.0 on Xubuntu Linux. I just installed it, and when I
started up Writer, after a few seconds it presented me with a
notification saying that there was updates for an installed extension.
So I clicked on the button. After it found the extension update, I
clicked on the Install button. The first time this happened, it then
presented me with a list of installed browsers and asked me to select
one. I clicked on "chrome", because I do have Chrome installed. It
failed saying that it couldn't find the default browser. Now, every
time I try to rerun the process, it doesn't present me with a list of
installed browsers, it just fails, saying again that it can't find the
default browser.

So, I can't find where to change the default browser in Writer. Does
anybody know? I tried renaming the profile folder, that didn't work,
it still failed.

I think the "default browser" applies to the operating system
(Windows/Linux/etc), not an application (such as Apache OpenOffice).
