Open Office
I have been using Open Office for about 5 years now. Yes, it has it's quirks, but it is still *free *and is an open source system, try finding that from one of the big software houses. The trend there is moving to cloud based applications that you rent. When one works for a non-profit entity, one does not find a large IT budget, rather one finds IT at the bottom of the budget hierarchy; a far different world than the large corporate environment. In this case, the free aspect is very important. I have used it both in Windows (XP and 7) and on the Mac. It does tend to be quirky under OSX Mavericks but I have, in most cases, found the solutions in this group. Thanks, Bruce *" I need the darkness and the peace, not the lights"*

I totally agree - I’ve used it on XP and also on OS/2 (eCS) where anything from the dark side is not an option. jt http://jt-mj.net -- Friends don't let friends use Windows. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
Re: Open Office
Question: I am new to Maverick and this Open Office was suggested to me by a woman for whom I will be doing volunteer work. Is this a forum application or a place to work on a document for that entity privately as well. I am a bit confused and I do not think she was knowledgable as well. I read the document on being polite and nonconfrontive, etc. and was not expecting a place for chatting. Thanks, L.T. This is a mail list, where users discuss using OpenOffice, though sometimes it can go off topic On 06/25/2014 01:28 PM, Lisa Towner wrote: > Question: I am new to Maverick and this Open Office was suggested to me by a > woman for whom I will be doing volunteer work. As you have noticed, the signal to noise ratio is not ideal on this list, but please do not give up on the list - almost everyone here has received (and many have offered) valuable assistance. jt http://jt-mj.net -- Oh bother, said Pooh, as he saw the mushroom cloud. - To unsubscribe, e-mail: users-unsubscr...@openoffice.apache.org For additional commands, e-mail: users-h...@openoffice.apache.org
