Re: Openen .xls bestanden

2013-08-11 Thread Andrea Pescetti
Hello Bas, your message below was sent to an English-language mailing
list. Note that attachments are stripped. If you have an XLS file that
opens in OpenOffice 3.4 but does not open in 4.0 please open an issue at
https://issues.apache.org/ooo/ (you will need to create an account) and
attach it. Then we'll be able to see if it is a known problem or a new
one, or a false alarm.

Regards,
  Andrea.

Mijne heren,
Na het installeren van Open Office 4.0.0 kan ik bijgaande .xls bestanden
niet openen. (leesfout of niet ondersteunde bestandsindeling). In de
vorige versie 3,4 was dit geen probleem.
Wat hier aan te doen?

Re: AOO on Debian/Ubuntu via APT Repositories

2013-08-11 Thread Andrea Pescetti

Not sure if this list or the dev list should get this but figured I'd
start here... I know there are the instructions on how to install the
provided Debian Package for AOO[1]; and I also found a very
out-of-date Ubuntu Launchpad PPA[2] that isn't really helpful at all
(no actual packages posted in the PPA for anyone to use). So, does
any here maintain a PPA or would it be possible to get an AOO PPA
setup?

The closest thing we have is a Debian repository maintained by Marcelo
Santana (in CC): http://markmail.org/message/5sxk6eatjdpqbe63

(leaving the rest of your message below in case Marcelo wants to comment).

I'd really like to see AOO come back in the Linux distros and prefer
it over LO myself. But at the same time, I want an official built-in
method to do so that is easier to keep up-to-date.

TIA,

Ben

Openoffice4

2013-08-11 Thread Tony

Hi
I have Apple Mac OSX 10.7.5.
Since I upgraded to Openoffice Version 4 I have noticed that this
application is very much slower than the previous Openoffice version 3
which I was using, particularly when saving or closing, but also on opening.

How do I return this version to the response the previous version had.
Thank you for your help.

You need to drasticly change your method of working, as OpenOffice is _not_ a
clone of MS Office, no matter what people think. It offers much the same
functionality, but this is arrived at by different methods of working.
OpenOffice makes considerable use of Styles.

You may find this document helpful
http://wiki.openoffice.org/wiki/Documentation/OOo3_User_Guides/Getting_Started/Templates_and_Styles

It may also be of use to Internet search for "using styles in OpenOffice"

The consistent use of Styles requires a paradigm shift in one's method of
working and it will not be in your first major project when you realise how
powerful this method is.

You may also ind it of use to bring specific problems to our Forum at
