Hello.

I’m trying to create a ‘Yard Sale’ flyer using the most current version of 
OpenOffice.org Writer and I would like to know how I can add an illustration to 
the flyer to jazz it up abit?

You can insert image files, though if you want to "jazz it up", you 
might be better off with Scribus, which is designed for that sort of 
thing.  To insert an image file in OO, you click on Insert > Picture > 
From file.
