Hi,

The "edit" button is normally active, which is why I keep it invisible.

"Everything underlined" is not normal. Right off hand, it sounds like 
"Recording changes" running amôk. Look at Edit > Changes. If all your 
text is a pending addition, accept all changes. Be sure to turn off 
"Record changes" when you're done.

If you just upgraded you might try resetting the user profile, it can 
cause all sorts of problems.
