Well.. I don't see the problem. I have installed Mate & KDE, but I only use Mate. Up to now, the other desktop never gives me problem. Is just there. From time to time I update it, and that's all. Aside of it, is always a good idea to have an alternative desktop. If your main Environment fails you still have another one to log in and fix the problem. Just my experience... Hi! I tried them both and I find Kmymoney simpler and smaller than Gnucash. But I really think that you should give both a try and see which one fits you better. Reading this makes me really happy. I used to make a clean install, but now I think that I'll try an upgrade. When the time comes, I already have Cinnamon Spin 23 and I must say that it works smoothly. Except for Nemo that is failing randomly. But isn't Fedora fault, happened the same and worse on Manjaro. Mmmhh... My connection isn't very reliable either but dnf doesn't get stuck. Maybe you should update packages in small bunches instead of everything altogether. Just an idea, hope it helps you. If it's make cache, you can try using Bleachbit to make a deep cleaning. Maybe that works. It worked for me with yum. If you use Yumex, just open it, look up for Compiz and select it for deletion. Then apply and see if you're okay with the options (like other stuff it will remove and so). I can use, theoretically, any compositor. But other than Xrender turns my laptop in a snail. I have some effects selected but none of them works. Mine is an Intel Atom netbook, just in case it's useful to know it. I disabled SELinux. It gets on my nerves. I've a dual boot in my laptop, but it's just for a warranty thing. It's squeezed in a 30GB partition. And for the next Fedora release it will be wiped. Very likely. I just had to delete a bunch of akonadi config things because it wouldn't stop by itself. Not even changing sessions (I use Plasma at times but most of times it's Cinnamon my desktop). I would be very happy if one day KDE developers dump Akonadi altogether and use something else, simpler. My issue with SDDM is its absolute lack of options. It's impossible to install new themes. It's impossible to select a user image or a background. There's an option to put a picture as background but it doesn't work. KDM was way better. Why KDE release not working stuff? I can't save my work because The Gimp shows me an error message everytime I export it into jpeg format. The message is "Jpeg complement failed" Any thoughts? Use "pdf import" tool. It's a Libreoffice addon. That tool allows you to open your pdfs, edit them and save them as odg or export them as pdf again. Another useful tool is Okular, which is a stand alone for pdf. Good morning, Linux has no viruses. Why would anyone want an anti-virus then? It is possible to install security tools of course, but those come with your distribution, you don't need to look up for external stuff. Hello, I would like to add my own note of thanks. My laptop also has Nvidia (with Nouveau) and had some glitches in F24 that were solved in F25, but only on Workstation. KDE still had some quirky things. And now they're gone with F26. It has been a great upgrade and everything works flawlessly. Thanks! Hello, I have the same but I just don't close the lid and let it working alone. I mean, if it hibernates or even if it suspends, of course wifi will be turned off. So your options are not hibernating/suspending the computer or not closing the lid. Hope this helps you. Hello, If you're going to install another desktop to test configuration I would suggest Cinnamon or Xfce. Gnome 3 has very few options, so you might not be able to test much.
