Re: FC13, Installing 32 bit Libs on a 64 bit box

Append .i686 to the package name you are installing using yum.

yum install packagename.i686

e.g.
yum install libtiff.i686

Skype works fine for me on Fedora 15 86_x64 and it was working on F14.

In case you are using the dynamic version of Skype.
I think it needs some extra 32bit libraries to work.

as root:

yum -y install pulseaudio-libs.i686 alsa-plugins-pulseaudio.i686
libv4l.i686   libXv.i686 libXScrnSaver.i686 dbus-qt.i686 qt.i686

Re: Skype on Fedora 14

2011-06-27 Thread Nicolae Ghimbovschi
Try to see which library is missing.

From terminal:

ldd `which skype`

An example:

ldd `which ping`
libresolv.so.2 => not found
libc.so.6 => /lib64/libc.so.6 (0x2b0f9000)
/lib64/ld-linux-x86-64.so.2 (0x2acc7000)

from the output can be seen that libresolv.so.2 is missing.
So you can tell yum to install the package which provides this library.

# yum install libresolv.so.2

Hello,

You could try to use gammu to read/send sms-es.
Here is a link on how to use it with a huawei e160
http://tensixtyone.com/perma/howto-send-sms-using-a-huawei-e160g-and-debian
I tested with my huawei e180, and I was able to send/recieve sms-es,
read/write contact book.

There is an frontend for it, is called wammu.

yum install gammu wammu -y

Fedora 16 grub2-mkconfig

2011-11-03 Thread Nicolae Ghimbovschi
Hello,

I need help with a GRUB2 issue.

Yesterday I did a preupgrade from F15 to F16.

I've added a new custom menu entry for grub in /etc/grub.d/40_custom

After running grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg, I saw that
/boot/grub2/grub.cfg was not updated.

grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
Generating grub.cfg ...
Found linux image: /boot/vmlinuz-3.1.0-5.fc16.x86_64
Found initrd image: /boot/initramfs-3.1.0-5.fc16.x86_64.img
  No volume groups found
Found Windows 7 (loader) on /dev/sda1
Found Mac OS X on /dev/sda3

Instead /boot/grub2/grub.cfg.new was created, and it did not contain
my custom menu entry.

Re: Fedora 16 grub2-mkconfig

2011-11-03 Thread Nicolae Ghimbovschi
Thanks! I have applied the patch and it worked :)

changed the following in the /etc/grub.d/30_os-prober
OSXUUID="`grub-probe --target=fs_uuid --device ${DEVICE} 2> /dev/null`"

to

OSXUUID="`grub2-probe --target=fs_uuid --device ${DEVICE} 2> /dev/null`"
