Hi there,

Do you have the GTK+ development packages installed? Sounds like you

be good to go. Later,

Hi there again,

Run the folling from the command line:

su -c 'yum install gtk2-devel libglade2-evel'

Enter the root password, when prompted, and things should be all set.

This should bring in glib2-devel, as well. Good luck!

PS: Depending on what else you may have misising (for software
development), there may be other packages pulled in as well

Hi Emerson,

It sounds like you have a kernel issue. Do you remember when the sound
stopped working? If you do, and you have multiple kernels installed, I
would try booting the system with an earlier kernel
(Command line: rpm -qa --last kernel ).

See if that fixes the sound issue. Good luck,, and let us know (or
file a bug in bugzilla under "kernel")

Hi John,

Could you tell us more about the smart card device? How is it hooked up
to yur computer? Is it a part of the computer? More details would be
helpful,

-David

PS: Maybe with what you learn in this experience, you could write an
up-to-date guide.

Hi there,

Could you please post the output of the "rpm -q openssl-devel" command?
If nothing shows up, then openssl-devel is *not* installed. I just tried
using the "yum search" command for something not installed, and i got a
simialr output to yours. Just becasue it shows up in "yum search" does
not mean it's installed, "rpm -q" does. Best of luck!

Hi Matt,

You missed(/ignored?) part of the command that Peter gave you. The
complete command is:

g++ -o executable program.cc

You use the -o option to tell it what to call the program file.
Otherwise, you get a file "a.out", as you discovered. You could of
course always rename the a.out file to what ever you like. Best of luck!
