If you do, and you have multiple kernels installed, I would try booting the system with an earlier kernel (Command line: rpm -qa --last kernel ). See if that fixes the sound issue. If nothing shows up, then openssl-devel is *not* installed. I just tried using the "yum search" command for something not installed, and i got a simialr output to yours. Just becasue it shows up in "yum search" does not mean it's installed, "rpm -q" does. The complete command is: g++ -o executable program.cc You use the -o option to tell it what to call the program file. Otherwise, you get a file "a.out", as you discovered. You could of course always rename the a.out file to what ever you like.
