Re: can't create live USB stick with Fedora 12

2010-04-19 Thread Alan Holt
no, USB disk is OK, I tried with Ubuntu 10.04 and 9.10 and it's ok.
Also I tried with Fedora 11 (KDE & GNOME) and it's OK too.

So I coul't create live USB disk with Fedora 12 & 13.
If F13 it's beta it's ok but F12 it's a stable realease and I can't do it.

If somebody has working link on some "how to" or somebody knows how to do
it,
please write it.

Yeep, I'm not user of Fedora now, so it's does't help, btw I've read this
manual a lot of times. I'm looking for some universal method that
will work from any version of linux not just from Fedora. Cause now my
current system on laptop is Ubuntu 9.10

I solved my problem by using *liveusb*-creator for Windows. It's work great.
But it's not a unix way.
I just want to try and to install fedora, because of this I don't have it on
my machine and I can't use commands like this:

yum install livecd-tools

Re: can't create live USB stick with Fedora 12

2010-04-20 Thread Alan Holt
All this methods they are don't working. If you want I can explain.

*Ubuntu Live USB creater* - is an official tool to create Live
USBs<http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Live_USB>of
Ubuntu <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ubuntu_%28operating_system%29> from the
Live CD or from an iso image <http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/.iso>. *Only for
Ubuntu. *
*Unetbootin* - is a great program and it's working with F11 but* it's does't
work with F12 & F13 at all. *
*Fedora Live USB Creater* - is a good program too, but* possible to run it
just on Windows or Fedora. *

So design of this problem (if I don't have Fedora) is to make bootble USB
stick with the *Fedora Live USB Creater *in Windows. I did like this.
Once again sorry but it's not a unix way.

I'm looking for uneversal method that is working from Ubuntu, SUSE, Gentoo
etc.

Can't solve problem with NFS-server access

2010-11-29 Thread Alan Holt
Hello all,

I need your help.
I have installed NFS-server on my Fedora 14.

Server is 192.168.1.101
Client is 192.168.1.100

I have stoped my iptables like this:
# su -c 'service iptables stop'

in /etc/exports
/home/user/temp 192.168.100/255.255.255.0(ro)

I'm not sure, that I have to write in /etc/hosts.allow and /etc/hosts.deny
>From the client side I do:
# sudo mount.nfs 192.168.1.101:/home/booch/Temp /home/booch/data/

And I have got thos error:
mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 192.168.1.101:
/home/booch/Temp

Please! Help me to resolve that problem!
Thank you very much in advance!

Re: Can't solve problem with NFS-server access

2010-11-29 Thread Alan Holt
>Should be:
>/home/user/temp 192.168.1.0/255.255.255.0(ro)

I'm sorry,
but I can't understand ? If I will do 192.168.1.0/24 ? I will never have
success,
because I don't have any PC in my network with IP-address 192.168.1.0

My router is 192.168.1.1
My PC (NFS CLIENT) is 192.168.1.100
My laptop (NFS SERVER) is 192.168.1.101

Like this my DHCP giving me my addresses for home network.

So...this is my NFS-server Fedora 14:
/home/booch/Temp 192.168.1.101/255.255.255.0(rw,sync,no_subtree_check)

This is my /etc/hosts.allow:
portmap: 192.168.1.100/24
lockd: 192.168.1.100/24
rquotad: 192.168.1.100/24
mountd: 192.168.1.100/24
statd: 192.168.1.100/24

This is my /etc/hosts.deny:
*empty*

I did restart for all services:
/etc/init.d/nfs restart
/etc/init.d/nfslock restart
/etc/init.d/rpcbind restart

Everything is well done!
But still I can't connect from my client computer.

PS: my RPC, I do not see my nfs
[r...@alexfedoralinux ~]# rpcinfo -p

Re: Can't solve problem with NFS-server access

2010-11-29 Thread Alan Holt
I'm really really sorry, it was typing error with ip address.
Like I wrote I have next addresses:

My PC (NFS-CLIENT) is 192.168.1.100
My laptop (NFS-SERVER) is 192.168.1.101

in my /etc/exports/
/home/booch/Temp 192.168.1.101/255.255.255.0(rw,sync,no_subtree_check)

where 192.168.1.101 is my NFS-server

I do my connection from the client fo the server like this:
r...@alexlinux:/home/booch# sudo mount.nfs 192.168.1.101:/home/booch/Temp
/home/booch/data/ -rw
mount.nfs: access denied by server while mounting 192.168.1.101:
/home/booch/Temp

On both computers (server and client) I have the same structure of
dirictories:
Client: /home/booch/data
Server: /home/booch/Temp

but still it's two different computers

I think that something wrong with RPC, because I do not see NFS here:
[r...@alexfedoralinux ~]# rpcinfo -p
   program vers proto port service
104 tcp111 portmapper
103 tcp111 portmapper
102 tcp111 portmapper
104 udp111 portmapper
103 udp111 portmapper
102 udp111 portmapper

2010-11-29 Thread Alan Holt
Thank you very much for your help! I'm sorry that I took your time.
Everything is well done with my systems, all configs are good, all daemons
are working well,
except one!!!

I forgot to tell you, that on my NFS-server (Fedora 14) my home directory is
encrypted by default.
NFS is not able to connect directory that stay on encrypted partion under
ext3.

Sorry for my english.
Thank you for your help!

IndexOptions +FancyIndexing
Options +Indexes Includes MultiViews FollowSymLinks AuthConfig FileInfo
*

My .htaccess file:
*[root@services QaTests]# cat .htaccess

Backup for server

2012-06-07 Thread Alan Holt
Hello all, I am looking for backup program that will work on Fedora 16
server.
The task is simple:
- Snapshots every night
- Full backup one time in the week

I am keeping to look in Google, but may be somebody already use something
tool for similar purpose.
Thanks.

P.S> rsync is good but I think not enough for server where I have important
data.
