MongoDB Community edition

2021-07-23 Thread Scott van Looy via users
Hi,

Does anyone have any hints for installing MongoDB on Fedora 34? I updated from
F33 and whilst it’s still working/running, I can’t update it.

Am I missing a compat lib or something?

I’m using the repo at
https://repo.mongodb.org/yum/redhat/8Server/mongodb-org/4.4/x86_64/
 as
recommended in their docs

When I try and do an update I get:

[root@server ~]# yum upgrade

Dependencies resolved.

Missed dependency is from platform-python packages, which are a RHEL
thing and are absent in Fedora.

Install only a server package, it works. If You're using some remote
management software for Mongo, You may skip the shell. If not, You
could use toolbox to make RHEL84 container and install shell in
that, since it will provide all depencencies.

Werid, but it will work just fine.

New fc33/FF 90.0/amazon.com issue

2021-07-23 Thread Dave Ulrick
Starting the morning of 7/23/2021 around 8 AM Central US time, I started
to experience issues with many Web pages at amazon.com. Instead of the
desired page, a picture of a dog would appear with a message "Something
went wrong at our end" or "Sorry we couldn't find that page." The issue
appears most frequently when I click on the Cart icon or the Account and
Lists link. I can recreate this problem with two PCs running fc33 with
all available updates and Firefox 90.0. Prior to the onset of the issue,
amazon.com worked perfectly with these two PCs. The issue does not occur
when I visit amazon.com with fc33 and Chrome 92.0 (on one of the two PCs
that exhibit the issue with FF 90.0) or with Win10 and Firefox 90.0.2.
Anyone else seeing this issue?

Need help customising Thunar.

2021-07-23 Thread Erik P. Olsen
Googling info on customising Thunar I find that you should click Edit in the
menu which
should be very easy. However, my problem is that there is no menu when I launch
Thunar,
so I guess the question is how do I get a menu in the Thunar window?

I remember having that issue. I have it showing now, looks like Control-m will
toggle it. Easy when it is on since it tells you the quick key in the "view"
menu. Not so easy when it is off.

There was a major outage of the Akamai content distribution network
which affected many services. It seems to be working now.

I have that kernel and had to hard-reset my system after load average
went to over 30, apparently due to a BTRFS cache flush process. May or
may not be related. It has never happened before.

If you can find the boot this happened in and file a bug against the
kernel, that would be great:

This can help find the boot that it happened with
journalctl --list-boots

I also will use this method to iterate to find the boot, with the
kernel appearing in the first line.
journalctl -b-1
journalctl -b-2
and so on, goes back each boot

For the log to attach, you can filter just for kernel messages with

journalctl -b-3 -k -o short-monotonic --no-hostname > dmesg.txt

So that's the 3rd boot back, kernel messages only, monotonic time
stamps, and no hostname, directed to a file that you can attach to the
bug.

Even better is if you can reproduce the high load and try to capture
one or more of the following: sysrq+l which will dump the result into
dmesg and will end up in the journal, which you can filter similarly:
journalctl -b -k -o short-monotonic --no-hostname > dmesg-cpustack.txt

And attach to the bug report.

Also, you can cc me bugzilla at colorremedies dot com

Actually, sysrq+w is also useful. The root user can use:

echo l > /proc/sysrq-trigger
echo w > /proc/sysrq-trigger

And their result is dumped into dmesg/journal. Some of them like
sysrq+t are so huge they fill up the kernel message buffer, but
journalctl will show the output since it's writing to a persistent
log.

SD card Timestamp

2021-07-23 Thread Clifford Snow
Recently I've noticed that the file timestamp is 7 hours earlier than when
the file was created. This is happening on both an SD card I use in a
camera as well as my dashcam. Both the camera and the dashcam have been set
for the correct date and time. Neither gives me the option for entering the
timezone. It's not a big issue, but it's a hassle when looking for an image
or video taken around a particular time.

Looking at the Exif data on the dashcam video, it has recorded the correct
time to the exif data. But pulling up the sd card, the video time is 7
hours earlier.

Anyone have suggestions on how to fix this?

Thanks in advance,
Clifford

Just a guess, but I would assume you set the clock on your camera to your
local time,
and the OS is assuming that time is UTC. ... and you are 7 time zones
away from UTC.

The device was set for the local time with no options for timezone. What is
interesting is the dashcam file name includes the correct date and time,
but the file time is 7 hours earlier. And yes, I live 7 hours off of UTC.

For example a file with the filename of 2021_0771_131537_062.MP4 has a time
stamp of 7/21/2021 06:20 AM (Note the video is 5 minutes long so it would
have been written at 13:20 pm. )
