Acer C720 Support
Sorry if I am posting to the wrong list. I'm wondering what needs to happen to get Anaconda to work on a Chromebook laptop with F22 and beyond? I have been trying to install Fedora on my Acer C720 Chromebook. Rawhide, F22, and F21 .iso's written to a usb drive via dd will not get past the grub splash screen. I've tried changing the boot parameters, to no avail. The C720 had a working Xubuntu install on it, so I know I have set the machine's bios up properly. I have been able to find this information regarding a possible syslinux issue; http://www.syslinux.org/archives/2015-February/023209.html I was able to install with a Fedora 20 netinstall image using these instructions; https://onemoretech.wordpress.com/2014/03/28/booting-the-acer-c720-with-fedora-20-live/ I just pointed Anaconda to an F22 workstation mirror. There are reports for various Chromebook issues on bugzilla; https://bugzilla.redhat.com/buglist.cgi?quicksearch=chromebook so I know that people have been able to install. I would be willing to test any patches that can be provided, but when I tried the patch of syslinux suggested in the syslinux mailing list, I still could not get the iso i created with (what I thought was the patched version of syslinux) to work. Typically (normally!), the i686 and x86_64 builds of a multilib package are made available in the x86_64 repo at the same time. The only chance to get a version mismatch as above is when you're assigned to a broken mirror, or if your installation is broken by duplicate packages, or if you somehow managed to upgrade only either arch (causing a version mismatch to begin with). Inactive raid1 partition failure
Hi, I have a fedora21 system with three md RAID1 arrays. I had used this system to temporarily access an external array connected to an LSI controller in the system. So I inserted the LSI controller, accessed the data on the disks connected to it, and removed the controller from the system. Now, all three md RAID arrays are in some type of degraded state: # cat /proc/mdstat Personalities : [raid1] md2 : inactive sdb1[1](S) sdc1[4](S) 1953519616 blocks super 1.2 md0 : active raid1 sda1[0] 511988 blocks super 1.0 [2/1] [U_] md1 : active raid1 sda2[0] 237566840 blocks super 1.2 [2/1] [U_] bitmap: 2/2 pages [8KB], 65536KB chunk Thankfully the system boots. The inactive array, md2, is connected to /var/backup, so I just commented it out of /etc/fstab to get the system to boot. It appears the devices were somehow impacted by the LSI controller, and now the partitions/devices have been reordered. How do I realign these slices to rebuild the array? It looks like a device is completely missing? blkid > blkid.txt Then for each md device UUID pair (the md UUID will show up twice in blkid for each of the three arrays): mdadm -E>> mdXraidstats.txt Where X=the md device from mdstat. That way you get the superblock from each device making up each array into an array specific text file. They can go all in one file, but it's easier to keep things separate. journalctl -b -l -o short-monotonic > journal.txt /etc/mdadm/mdadm.conf Post those files somewhere and the URL here. The journal should say why it wasn't assembled. But the main thing is you should get copies of all device superblocks before you do anything else, especially reading around the internet where often people get the idea that they need to use -C to recreate an array which obliterates the old metadata and almost invariably kills their data. Re: Inactive raid1 partition failure
Alex writes: Hi, I have a fedora21 system with three md RAID1 arrays. The first step is to see what mdadm --detail /dev/md0 says. Repeat for md1, et al… Each one of your arrays is either missing a drive, or the other drive is marked as faulty. If it's missing, use --add to add each drive to it's array. If mdadm says the drive has failed, try to --remove, then --add it back in. pgpS8wulQVetr.pgp Description: PGP signature -- users mailing list users@lists.fedoraproject.org To unsubscribe or change subscription options: https://admin.fedoraproject.org/mailman/listinfo/users Fedora Code of Conduct: http://fedoraproject.org/code-of-conduct Guidelines: http://fedoraproject.org/wiki/Mailing_list_guidelines Have a question? Thanks so much for your help. In the process of disconnecting the LSI controller and power cable connected to the disks, somehow the power cable at the power supply side was loose for one of the other system drives. Using these commands, I was able to figure out there really was a device physically missing. I panicked a bit, and didn't want to do something stupid (like mdadm -C) before passing it by at least one other person. After connecting the power cable, I was able to easily "mdadm --add" the drives back and rebuild both degraded arrays. The /var/backup partition came up automatically. Another great mdadm command to know is --details. Are you running the stock BIOS? I flashed johnlewis's ROM and can successfully boot F22 media. I initially had to do F20->F21->F22. Flashed the ROM, ran Debian for a while, and then went back to a minimal F22 install. I don't recall having any issues booting Fedora media after flashing the BIOS. amavis stopped logging to maillog after upgrade
Hi, I recently performed an upgrade from fedora20 to fedora21, and now amavisd-new no longer logs to /var/log/maillog (or anywhere else that I can find.) The /etc/amavisd.conf file hasn't changed. I've also made sure rsyslog is still running, and is receiving logging info from postfix. # grep log /etc/amavisd/amavisd.conf $log_level = 2; # verbosity 0..5, -d $log_recip_templ = undef;# disable by-recipient level-0 log entries $DO_SYSLOG = 1; # log via syslogd (preferred) $syslog_facility = 'mail'; # Syslog facility as a string $syslog_priority = 'debug'; # Syslog base (minimal) priority as a string, # egrep -v '^$|^#' /etc/rsyslog.conf $ModLoad imuxsock # provides support for local system logging (e.g. via logger command) $ModLoad imklog # provides kernel logging support (previously done by rklogd) $SystemLogRateLimitInterval 0 $ActionFileDefaultTemplate RSYSLOG_TraditionalFileFormat $IncludeConfig /etc/rsyslog.d/*.conf kern.none /dev/console kern.* /var/log/kern.log *.info;mail.none;authpriv.none;cron.none/var/log/messages authpriv.* /var/log/secure mail.* -/var/log/maillog cron.* /var/log/cron *.emerg * uucp, news.crit /var/log/spooler local7.*/var/log/boot.log I don't understand if this is a journalctl error or not. The logs are going to the standard journalctl log. There is also no /var/log/amavisd.log file present. Thanks for any ideas. I definitely suggest you make a backup of each device superblock and distribute it somewhere safe in the unlikely event two devices in a mirrored array stop cooperating. The superblocks do come in handy from time to time when they can't be acquired once problems happen. The other thing is, if you're panicked, it kinda suggests no recent backup. I can't tell you how many sad panda faces I see on many lists, including the linux-raid@ list (all things RAID on Linux but mainly md/mdadm) and it's like, really no backup? Yeah it's easy to get -D and -E confused. -D is pointed at the running array and -E is pointed at devices. Yes, I am running the stock SeaBIOS. I did use a F20 netinstall iso and just changed the mirror to an F22 source. I guess my question is, and maybe this isn't the place for it, why can I install OpenBSD, DragonFlyBSD, Ubuntu, Debian, Gentoo, and Arch on the stock firmware, but not Anaconda?
