[ANNOUNCE] JavaServer Faces in Action book available
I'm pleased to announce that my book, JavaServer Faces in Action, is now available via Manning's Early Access Program (MEAP). MEAP allows you to download chapters of the book as they're finished, and then get the print version when it becomes available (if you so desire). In addition to thorough coverage of JSF, I explain how it relates to Struts and other frameworks, and also provide a chapter on Struts integration. You can get the book from Manning's site (http://www.manning.com/mann). ~~~~~~~ Kito D. Mann ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Virtua, Inc. [ANNOUNCE] JSF Central Launches 'In the Trenches' Series About Real-World JSF Projects
JSF Central today announced the start of In the Trenches a series of articles about real-world experiences when developing applications with JavaServer Faces. In order to help organizations understand how they can best leverage JSF, In the Trenches showcases projects that use JSF for web application development. Each article will focus on one or more projects, explaining how the technology was used and discussing any issues the team faced during the development. The first article discusses how an Italian company has standardized on JSF as the foundation for its web development. In order to ensure a constant stream of case studies, JSF Central is continuously searching for information about JSF projects. As an incentive to anyone whose story is included in the series, he/she will receive a copy of the book JavaServer Faces in Action, courtesy Manning Publications (for a limited time). The series can be found on the web at <http://www.jsfecentral.com/trenches>http://www.jsfecentral.com/trenches. RE: JSF Training
Natalie, There are a handful of courses out there from companies like ArcMind (see http://www.jsfcentral.com/resources/courses/). I think Marty Hall has a course as well, and I also do customized training and mentoring. As for the quality, I'll refrain from judgment, as I'm a little biased :-). ~~~~~~~ Kito D. RE: [OT] Struts + AJAX Trumps JSF

If I was starting a new web > > application today, I would use Struts and AJAX. > > Not that I going to jump JSF anytime soon, but: > http://www.icesoft.com/products/icefaces.html Admittedly, I'm on the JSF bandwagon, but people often don't realize that JSF and Ajax go hand-in-hand. It's just that you don't have to code it yourself, which is, after-all, the whole point of JSF (components). Most component vendors are adding Ajax support already. For example, see: http://www.otrix.com/demos/webTree/dimensions/index.faces. ~~~~~~~ Kito D. Mann ([EMAIL PROTECTED]) Principal Consultant, Virtua, Inc.
