2018-09-13 Thread Pawel
There is a chance for fixing this (nvidia-340) or it is a lost case?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1927514] Re: [HP Pavilion 15] Keyboard does not work immediately on Ubuntu login page

2021-05-07 Thread Pawel
apport information

** Tags added: ubuntu

** Description changed:

I have a problem with logging into Ubuntu, i.e. in the login window I
cannot enter the password for 10-20 seconds (most often with a cold
start) the keyboard does not work (laptop keyboard). After several
seconds, the keyboard starts and I can enter the password. I tested on
"clean" versions of Ubuntu 20.04.2.0 LTS, 20.10 (also with Kernel 5.10),
21.04. The problem occurs on the HP Pavilion 15-eg0016nw laptop with an
Intel Core i7-1135G7 processor (also occurs on the HP Pavilion
  15-eg0073cl with Intel Core i7-1165G7).

During normal operation, the keyboard works without any problems - the
problem is only when logging into the system.

I am using the latest BIOS version (F.12), but I have also used older
  versions: F.5 and F.11.

Another user with the HP Pavilion 15-eg0073cl laptop (a very similar laptop
model) has the same problem:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 569838] [NEW] huge memory leak using radeon os driver when KMS is disabled

2010-04-25 Thread Pawel
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: libdrm-radeon1

Hi,

When I disable KMS Xorg's memory usage raises up to 165MB! It usually
doesn't get lower after closing running applications. I suppose it can
be memory leak in the libdrm-radeon1 package, because when I enable KMS
(so libdrm2 is used) Xorg memory usage is normal - less then 50MB and it
gets lower when I close running applications. I have a Radeon X1600XT
card and I am using Kubuntu Lucid and have Kwin effects enabled.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 992391] Re: [i915] xserver freeze on switching VGA1/LVDS1

2012-05-24 Thread Pawel Stolowski
I've similar problem when using xrandr to setup my laptop screen and external
LG monitor (HDMI):
xrandr --output HDMI1 --primary --mode 1920x1080 --right-of LVDS1 --output
LVDS1 --mode 1600x900

However in my case I'm experiencing hard freeze and am not able to
switch to VT.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1742756] [NEW] 3/4 of XFCE and console screen is unreadable

2018-01-11 Thread Pawel Por
Public bug reported:

After upgrading to kernel 4.13.0-26-generic 3/4 of screen is unreadable.
It is both in xorg/xfce and terminal after pressing ctrl+alt+F1.
Everything works perfect when I reboot my laptop with older
4.10.0-42-generic kernel. It may be also a kernel graphics driver bug
rather than xorg bug. Now I'm wiritng this description on a 1/4 part of
the screen that looks ok. Besides the screen display issue the system
seems to run ok.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1278223] Re: Mouse Flickering after adding 3rd Monitor

2018-01-19 Thread Pawel Duda
Solution:

-install nvidia 390 (or any older - check or switch using "Additional Drivers"
app on Ubuntu ), and then, install:
-DisplayLink USB Graphics Software for Ubuntu 4.1 (or newer I guess)

Restart and done!

--
Key here as it seems is that you need to:

1) update graphic card's driver first
2) then uninstall current display link drivers (sudo displaylink-installer
uninstall)
3) install the display link drivers for Ubuntu (that is important - it must be
last thing)

I have two additional monitors and 16.04 Ubuntu.

Write to me: acidosen@.com if it worked for you

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1266784] Re: GPU hangs during login to rotated display

2014-02-27 Thread Pawel Stolowski
I get this error pretty consistently when having desktop effects enabled
and using google hangouts at the same time; it makes my screen freeze
for several seconds, sometimes it recovers after a while (and freezes
again some time later), but sometimes it freezes completely and I'm
forced to do hard reset. When this happens, I see same i915 error
messages as in the description of this bug.

It looks like cl_egl.h heaer is missing. It's listed in khronos registry

Algo, ubuntu is not really at fault here, it's more to do with the
relationship between nvidia and xorg developers.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 301958] Re: [needs-packaging] no working driver for sis 671/771 video cards

2011-05-02 Thread Pawel Jasnos
Timo - would it not be possible to put this driver in universe, as a service
for users who still have this chip?
I think it will become less relevant with time as I've not seen any newer
laptops/netbooks having using SiS 671, so it might just happen that when it is
finally merged with the FD.o, next to no-one might acutally need it.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 741930] Re: [natty] nvidia binary packages for older cards - dependencies not met

2011-05-10 Thread Pawel Jasnos
I'd say a simpler but still useful thing would be to make sure that if
some hardware isn't compatible at the time of release because a
proprietary driver is required (and that's the situation here - Unity
doesn't work on Nouveau), then a big, red note of that should be made
in the "release notes" prompt encouraging for upgrade, so that people
can wait until Nvidia or any other vendor provides updated driver.

Alternatively, the upgrading script should warn user about such
incompatibilities at the start of the process, allowing them to easily
cancel.

2010-05-21 Thread Pawel Kot
I've went through some information from:

 http://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/ATI
 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=15626
 https://bugzilla.kernel.org/show_bug.cgi?id=14801

and kernel parameter

 pci=nomsi

does not help but kernel parameter

 radeon.modeset=0

does help. So it looks like KMS does not work well with my card.
