[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled

2009-10-14 Thread Denham Coote
I must be a complete idiot. I tried patching, as per #256. All seemed to be
going ok.
Got the same errors as #236. Proceeded to install. Rebooted.

Windows still take 5 seconds to restore.

Am I missing something?

Dell Studio 1735, Radeon HD 3650, Ubuntu, x86, xorg-server_1.6.4

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled

2009-10-15 Thread Denham Coote
Hi Daƫavelwyn

That's pretty much exactly what I did, yes.

The only thing I can see as being different is that I installed from the
Karmic Beta CD, as opposed to upgrading from Jaunty.

Ah, just looking at you commands, I realise I may have issued 'patch
-pl' instead of 'patch -p1'. I will try again tonight and let the list
know.

Thanks,

Denham

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 351186] Re: [M76] [ubuntu 9.04] slow unminimizing with ati card and desktop effects enabled

2009-10-15 Thread Denham Coote
Apologies in advance if this is a dumb question or the wrong place to
ask, but:

As I've (wrongly) patched and installed xorg, what steps would I need to
take to rectify? I assume that the patching didn't actually work and I
ended up installing a vanilla version. Would I first need to remove the
currently installed version and then repeat the steps, or am I safe to
simply follow the instructions from the beginning again (will my
unpatched version be replaced, without removing first?)

Thanks in advance,

Denham

2009-10-15 Thread Denham Coote
That worked! Turns out I'm just a dumbass. Having just rebooted, my
memory usage is 465mb, with Xorg using 105mb. I'll let you know the
status after it's been running for a while/overnight.

Thanks for the help,

Denham
