[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 647521] Re: Xorg crash leading to low graphics mode after several suspends

2014-01-06 Thread Budoc
Christopher, the laptop that I reported this bug for broke a little
while back. I now use a newer Ubuntu release with a different laptop and
no longer experience this bug. Given that nobody else has contributed to
this bug report and I no longer experience this bug, I would be more
than happy to have it closed. Thank you for your help.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1160045] [NEW] GPU hangs, error messages and several instances of apport-gtk running

2013-03-25 Thread Budoc
Public bug reported:

>From the updates around last Friday or Saturday, I now get repeated
dialogue boxes with "System program problem detected" and "Sorry, Ubuntu
12.10 has experienced an internal error". The executable path in the
latter error is /usr/share/apport/apport-gpu-error-intel.py. several
instances of apport-gtk run in the background maxing out the CPU but
nothing ever happens - I had to submit this error bug using ubuntu-bug.

This bug may be related to Bug #1073626 or bug #1140716. I'm reporting
this as a distinct bug as unlike the former bug, I do see brief freezes
(for instance, in scrolling Firefox windows) and the gpu hangs appear to
be genuine prior to the dialogue boxes being displayed, and unlike the
latter, rolling back to a previous kernel version does not solve the
problem.

Please accept my apologies if this behaviour is related to one of the
bugs above.

Ubuntu release: 12.10

What I expected to happen - no gpu hangs, no repeated dialogue boxes and
apport-gtk to do something.

What happened instead: frequent gpu hangs, repeated dialogue boxes and
several instances of apport-gtk running whilst no progress is observed.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1161884] [NEW] Xorg freeze

2013-03-29 Thread Budoc
Public bug reported:

X completely froze on me. I was unable to access any tty or press ctrl-
alt-backspace to restart X although mpd continued playing an mp3 in the
background. I had control of the mouse pointer but nothing else. I
eventually had to perform a hard reset. This is distinct from Bug
#1160045 as on this occassion, my computer was completely frozen and
required a hard reboot. I couldn't attempt to ssh into my computer as I
didn't have another computer set up. However, my android phone could
still control mpd remotely.

I assume that this is an xorg problem. I was browsing the internet when
suddenly my screen went black and eventually I was redirected back to

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 647521] [NEW] Xorg crash leading to low graphics mode after several suspends

2010-09-25 Thread Budoc
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: xorg

After an uptime of 1d 19h and several suspends/resumes (approx 7 or 8),
the screen flickered 7 times before an error dialogue was displayed
stating the following:

"Ubuntu is running in low graphics mode

Your screen, graphics card, and input device settings could not be
detected correctly. You will need to configure these yourself"

I ran apport-bug whilst in low graphics mode. I have observed this bug
since Karmic, and it may be a duplicate of bugs #582057, #583902 or
#599452. I'm posting this as a separate bug report until somebody with
greater technical knowledge can make a decision.
