2021-04-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

No video signal appears after waking up my computer from suspending it
and leaving it in this state for a while.

This issue has appeared after upgrading from Ubuntu 20.10 (where
suspending and waking up worked flawlessly) to 21.04. The computer in
question is a HP Desktop - M01-F0230ng with a Ryzen 5 3400G processor.

A similar issue exists with a Lenovo Desktop and a Ryzen 7 4600G.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926144] Re: Flickering screen

2021-04-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for taking the time to report this issue and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Examining the information you have given us, this does
not appear to be a bug report so we are closing it and converting it to
a question in the support tracker. We understand the difficulties you
are facing, but it is better to raise problems you are having in the
support tracker at https://answers.launchpad.net/ubuntu if you are
uncertain if they are bugs. You can also find help with your problem in
the support forum of your local Ubuntu community http://loco.ubuntu.com/
or asking at https://askubuntu.com or https://ubuntuforums.org. For help

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926110] Re: Apps interface flickering

2021-04-26 Thread Sebastien Bacher
Thank you for your bug report, do you remember what packages got updated
at the time the issue started (the /var/log/dpkg.log record could help
figuring it out)? Could you try if starting an older kernel
(https://askubuntu.com/questions/82140/how-can-i-boot-with-an-older-
kernel-version) makes a difference? What videocard, driver and desktop
environment do you use?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926173] [NEW] Wacom crashes Xorg

2021-04-26 Thread sander
Public bug reported:

The X Server consistently crashes when my Wacom Intuos Pro Medium tablet
is attached to my Dell XPS 13 laptop whilst I have a second screen
connected using the HDMI port on the Dell DA300 hub. The crash does not
immediately happens when the Wacom devices is attached, but during the
use of the tablet. It is easy to repeat this crash very fast by pushing
the tablet buttons and using the pen. In less than 15 seconds, the X
Server will crash. When the second screen is not attached to my laptop,
the X Server keeps running flawlessly.

My Dell XPS 13 laptop is running the preinstalled 18.04 LTS, Gnome
3.28.2 and it has Intel UHD Graphics 620 (WHL GT2).

I tried the tabled on a desktop with 2 screens attached running Ubuntu
20.04 LTS and Gnome 3.36.3. It has Intel HD Graphics 2500 (IUB GT1). It
works without issues. The bug does not arise on this device!

Please find attached gdb details (not sure if I did well; I have never
used this tool before).

Any idea how to fix this? Or maybe a workaround? My Wacom tablet is
almost useless on my laptop due to this bug. If I want to use it, I have
to detach my second screen and work on the small laptop screen.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926050] Re: Web benchmark freezing and crashing the system

2021-04-26 Thread sepukkuhero
** Description changed:

- Expected behavior: perform the "Basemark Web 3.0" benchmark, at most a
- loss of performance.
+ Expected behavior: perform the "Basemark Web 3.0" benchmark (Firefox 87
+ and 88), at most a loss of performance.

Real behavior: the benchmark completely crashes the system in one of the
initial stages (4). The screen presents graphical distortion (it never
happens), intense crashes and sometimes it is solved with the automatic
suspension of the computer (which remains on at times). But it doesn't
usually come back from the crash.

The problem happens with the onboard ATI RADEON 3000 (RS780 driver) and it
happens in both xorg and wayland. Ubuntu and kernel duly updated to the present
date.

** Description changed:

Expected behavior: perform the "Basemark Web 3.0" benchmark (Firefox 87
and 88), at most a loss of performance.

Real behavior: the benchmark completely crashes the system in one of the
initial stages (4). The screen presents graphical distortion (it never
happens), intense crashes and sometimes it is solved with the automatic
suspension of the computer (which remains on at times). But it doesn't
usually come back from the crash.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926009] Re: Incomplete display of text

2021-04-26 Thread Mark Burns
The issue appears to have started around the 21st April, and apart from
a couple of browser upgrades some misc packages, there appear to have
been a number of Mesa related upgrades (see attached).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926023] Re: display broken on logout

2021-04-26 Thread drhex
I tested some more. After logging out and receiving the broken video mode, I
can press ctrl+alt+F2 and get a textmode login screen. If I then immediately
press ctrl+alt+F1 I get to the graphic login screen, and can login again.
Pressing ctrl+alt+F1 directly at the broken video mode does nothing, though.
I'm attaching the output of 'journalctl' (without -b 1 as I did not need to
reboot) (output compressed with bzip2)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926205] [NEW] graphic interface faulty

2021-04-26 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

hi,

first, after boot and log-in, the interface elements are slow to
display. the left-screen dock is empty and shows only after some time.
then, I must wait to have access to program (applications) menu
("Activities").

the graphic interface itself become buggy and faulty when using multi-
workspace (dynamic work-spaces displays).

when I launch a program on second workspace screen:
the mouse click stop to have any result (mouse and touchpad)
then, I can not change workspace.
then, programs freezes
I need to reboot the computer to regain any control.

I try 20.04.2.0 LTS on this computer, witch works fine. no any smallest
problem.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1926248] [NEW] display scrambled - all packages

2021-04-26 Thread James Erwin
Public bug reported:

shortly after switching to kernel 5.8.0-50 on Apr 16, I got progressively worse
display scrambling on all programs. Wrote to ubuntuforums.org Apr 19 but found
no resolution. Thinking it was that kernel, I ran on 5.8.0-49 for a day without
problem, then it too started the same display glitches. The problem progressed
so far that I did a fresh system re-install on Apr 23. After, with the default
kernel, 5.8.0-50, scrambling was worse than ever, almost unusable. Fortunately,
the second kernel offered was 5.8.0-43. I have run on that kernel for 3 days
now with no sign of the scrambling issue.
The attached png shows static image corruption examples. The more dramatic
strobing, spontaneous jumping from window to window, window re-mapping, video
corruption etc., I was unable to capture.
