[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1453703] [NEW] Gnome Shell

2015-05-11 Thread Werner Pieterson
Public bug reported:

Windows in Gnome shell turn invisible. e.g. when opening Terminator and
maximizing it, it turns invisible. It shows up when going to
Activities. I have to use a shortcut to restore it to see it again.
When maximizing SublimeText, there's tearing.

2015-05-11 Thread Peter-and-Crazybear
Hello, I'm quite confused. I thought this was fixed and released. No?!
That might explain the problems I've had as recently as today trying to
install the new fglrx files. Please clarify what the status really IS
now. Thanks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1414930] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad 2015 models] Buttons of Synaptics trackpad doesn't work

2015-05-11 Thread Luis Henriques
This bug is awaiting verification that the kernel in -proposed solves
the problem. Please test the kernel and update this bug with the
results. If the problem is solved, change the tag 'verification-needed-
trusty' to 'verification-done-trusty'.

If verification is not done by 5 working days from today, this fix will
be dropped from the source code, and this bug will be closed.

See https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how
to enable and use -proposed. Thank you!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1453742] [NEW] xorg started to systematically crash after every suspend/resume

2015-05-11 Thread teo1978
Public bug reported:

- I suspended
- I pressed a key to resume
- the screen turned on and I was prompted for the password as usual
- I entered the password

=> my previous session was lost, every application I had left open prior
to suspend was closed, all unsaved data was lost and everything was as
if I had just rebooted.

Then I tried suspending and resuming again just for the sake of testing,
and it happened again, exactly the same way.

It now happens 100% of the times systematically.
Now maybe (I hope) it will stop happening after a reboot, but for now, once it
has started happening, it has become systematic.

This is not the first time I observe it.

affects me too on debian scratch/sid.

all the "fixes" from google appear to be disable nouveau (nomodeset) and
install the proprietary drivers, which isn't helpful.

i can still ssh into the box, but anything that was running a gui has
crashed (defunct), here's some output i got in dmesg:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1434351] Re: X fonts and widgets disappear after suspend/resume cycle

2015-05-11 Thread Truga
I think I have the same issue as this. After resume, GTK stops working
correctly, old windows eventually go blank if I drag something over
them, new windows appear as grey rectangles. Pretty much the same
behaviour as in the provided screenshot.

My current workaround is using KDE, where I do not get this issue. It
appears QT apps aren't affected, and neither are GTK apps when using a
gtk-qt engine.

I tried running apport collect after the bug happens. Unfortunately with
everything GTK being grey rectangles, I can't make anything out of the
dialog windows that show, so I can't complete the submit steps.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1291574] Re: nouveau DRM GPU lockup, PFIFO unhandled status 0x00800000

2015-05-11 Thread Chad Miller
I never get it with chromium, but I do with mplayer when the window size is
larger than a quarter of my screen. Not reliable reproduction. Seems to be
a race that happens once every 30 minutes or so at that size.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1414930] Re: [Lenovo ThinkPad 2015 models] Buttons of Synaptics trackpad doesn't work

2015-05-11 Thread Sven Mueller
Actually, Markus tested Trusty, not Utopic:
3.16.0-38-generic #52~14.04.1-Ubuntu SMP Fri May 8 09:43:57 UTC 2015 x86_64
14.04.1 is the Trusty version, not Utopic. Therefor adding
verification-needed-utopic back and adding verification-done-trusty.

2015-05-11 Thread Charles Ford
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu

** Description changed:

If I close my laptop lid to initiate suspend, everything comes back
except the screen. This worked in 12.04. I *think* it's xorg because
  it's display related.

I have to just shut off the whole thing and restart.

The experimental packages in #100 appear to do the trick for me! Tested
under trusty on a lenovo t450s, no external monitor, and have not
observed rendering issues so far. Thanks a lot!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1291574] Re: nouveau DRM GPU lockup, PFIFO unhandled status 0x00800000

2015-05-11 Thread Simon John
i can't see the problem is xserver-xorg-video-nouveau 1.0.11-1 though,
as the package hasn't been updated in 8 months and i've only had the
problem the last few weeks.

i assume its one of the libdrm* userspace packages which seem to have
had 3-4 new versions during march/april

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1453889] [NEW] Dual Monitor Setup is Mirroring Instead of Spanning

2015-05-11 Thread Stephen Rasku
Public bug reported:

I was running Utopic and when I came in this morning my monitors
wouldn't come out of power-save mode. I logged in remotely and rebooted
the system. The monitors now work but they are both displaying the same
content (mirroring) while they were spanning before. I have now
upgraded to vivid but it hasn't resolved the issue.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1453894] [NEW] Trackpad and External mouse non-responsive.

2015-05-11 Thread Tim
Public bug reported:

-Based on wiki.ubuntu.com, I should file this against HAL.
-This problem went away for the past year, but as of ~last week, the trackpad
stops responding all together after minutes of having booted or returning from
sleep (and often times neither of those things brings the trackpad back to
life).
-The problem is not (no longer?) intermittent; if the trackpad is functioning,
I can count on it to stop functioning after ~minutes of use. Once it's dead, I
can only hope that a reboot/sleep will resurrect it.
-This has been a recurrent issue with my particular machine, a Lenovo U300s; it
was so bad to begin with that I had a technician come twice to check/replace
the hardware.
-External mice have almost never worked on either USB port (even though lsusb
properly identifies the manufacturer/device).

-**Two things have occurred that may have triggered this**, with the
first being the most suspicious: 1) I accidentally let the battery drain
completely from the laptop 2) There were a series of kernel upgrades
that happened this month. Both of these things occurred at/around the
time when this problem started again, but because I have reason to
suspect both things, I don't know what might actually be at fault. I
will try draining the battery entirely again (leaving the boot select
menu open in the BIOS screen), as well as physically disconnecting the
battery.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1453306] Re: Xorg freeze

2015-05-11 Thread John Ioannidis
apport information

** Tags added: apport-collected ubuntu

** Description changed:

  Running a freshly-installed 15.04, fully-updated, on an Intel NUC5i5RYK
(with an up-to-date bios). Connected to three Dell U2415 monitors,
  daisy-chained using the DP output.

As you can see from Xorg.0.log, all three monitors are detected, and the
  framebuffer is set to 5760 x 1200 (3 * 1920 x 1200).

This problem only manifests itself when connected to more than one
  monitor.
