[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1316035] Re: matrox g200eR2 is unclaimed in 14.04
Find a way to workaround. I have a PowerEdge R620 which installed a Ubuntu 12.04 TLS. And I found the screen refreshing became very slow. So I share the same issue with yours. First, then we have to install vesa driver: sudo apt-get install xserver-xorg-video-vesa Then, for some of the Ubuntu release don't have a xorg.conf, so I have to generate one with following steps: 1.switch to console mode: Alt+Ctrl+F1 2.kill x server: sudo service lightdm stop 3.generate new xorg.conf file: sudo X -configure -- this will create xorg.conf.new file in your current dir 4.rename and move: sudo mv xorg.conf.new /etc/X11/xorg.conf 5.open /etc/X11/xorg.conf, replace the graphic driver of 'mga' with 'vesa'.t 6.return to GUI: sudo start lightdm ** Attachment added: "Capture.PNG" https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1316035/+attachment/4317967/+files/Capture.PNG -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1316035 Title: matrox g200eR2 is unclaimed in 14.04 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/1316035/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 49521] Re: Screen locks up black on laptop lid close.
OK, still broken. Now - this is not an exact duplicate of the bugs listed in this thread - The other Lenovo listed on here apparently will still allow ctrl-alt-del to work, but on mine it does not. I had intended on uninstalling 14.04, but this is a work machine and unfortunately I have to keep ubuntu on it. So now my problem - at least, the most problematic problem - is that closing the screen renders the machine unusable without doing a hard reboot. And even then, it is a crap shoot on whether or not it will reboot without cycling the power a few times after that; it is also now rebooting to a flashing cursor and just halting with absolutely nothing ever showing in any of the logs... but only after it locks up because someone was unlucky enough to close the lid. If I am able to use the normal shut down or restart method, then it is still suddenly making me log in twice when it does reboot... once at a CLI, and then a second time at the regular GUI login screen. All of this, the freezing, the failed boot, the multiple logins - this all started a few days ago. So... do I file a new bug report, or keep adding to this one, or is this just another "that's just the way it is" bugs that will eventually have a workaround in a random thread somewhere? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/49521 Title: Screen locks up black on laptop lid close. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1246683] Re: Middle button does not work for scrolling
Before I start work over AUR's pkg, I tried Bjornt ppa. It didn't work for me at all - that's why I show up here :) (maybe because I messed up smth with xorg &/o evdev already - don't remember now) At begin of July I bought High-End MX TP-W540. I took me a month to solve it. During that period most time I spent on customizing my TP to desired state. Point is building driver from latest source, which allows to use much more input options and definitions. Auto-Disable input during typing works for me. Last weeks Am too busy, I didn't even start working on upgrade. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-evdev in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1246683 Title: Middle button does not work for scrolling To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-input-evdev/+bug/1246683/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1308105] Re: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled
For those trying the above commands... the curl to get the patch files is likely not working. I'm not motivated enough on curl to figure out the problem, but i was able to copy/paste with a browser. If you are unsure, look at the patch files, git diff, the output of patch, etc... For me the latest git did not fix the problem. Sean's (updated) patch also did not fix the problem. Alexander's patch *did* fix my problem. My use case is with a single display attached to a A/V receiver. Turning the receiver off, and back on did not come pack. Using alexander's one liner, it works great. IMHO, this is a big issue, and i'm shocked that it's not been rectified yet. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1308105 Title: Xfce resets TV mode to NULL when power cycled To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mythbuntu/+bug/1308105/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1377872]
Hmm, I wonder if this is another case of the i915 driver not keeping the kernel awake enough? Although I found this bug on a reasonably powerful i7, I recently also found an intel sleep states bug that affects low-end chips: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1388490 Maybe these two bugs are in the same ballpark...? -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to mesa in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1377872 Title: Double-buffered compositing performance is very poor (30 FPS) on intel To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mesa/+bug/1377872/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1420123] Re: [utopic] Black screen on boot (radeon)
I too have fallen victim to the same confusing package names before (I now remember): ubuntu-desktop-mir: Legacy fullscreen XMir ubuntu-desktop-next: Unity8 login (not totally usable yet but will evolve into proper Unity8). ubuntu-desktop-mir used to work, but the XMir extension has been rewritten recently. Just retested this on vivid myself and got some flickering, stuttering, crash, reverted back to regular X. Don't expect ubuntu-desktop-mir to work. And even if we did fix it, no fix for that would get backported to Ubuntu 14.10. You're encouraged to try out and log bugs against ubuntu-desktop-next though... ** Changed in: mir Status: Incomplete => Won't Fix ** Also affects: xorg-server (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Also affects: xmir Importance: Undecided Status: New ** Summary changed: - [utopic] Black screen on boot (radeon) + [utopic] Black screen on boot (radeon) with ubuntu-desktop-mir (XMir) ** Changed in: mir Status: Won't Fix => Incomplete ** Changed in: mir Status: Incomplete => Invalid ** Tags added: xmir -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1420123 Title: [utopic] Black screen on boot (radeon) with ubuntu-desktop-mir (XMir) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/mir/+bug/1420123/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
