[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 958279] Re: FGLRX DPMS support totally broken, fails to wake up the monitor after putting it to sleep.
Hello everybody I'm experiencing this bug too , I'm running Kubuntu 14.04 lts 64bit and using fglrx-updates (Radeon HD 7790) I don't know if this applies to other setups... distros... different window-managers etc ... This is the only scenario in which I could test and have this problem. The steps I've taken to reproduce this behaviour are the following: 1 - Install fglrx-updates drivers 2 - Wait for the display to be switched off by the power-manager 3 - After the screen has fully switched off and entered stand-by mode, trying to move the mouse or hitting any of the keys on your keyboard simply does not wake up the screen. Your display is permanently stuck in sleep mode and you have to reboot your computer. There's "just" something wrong with the computer telling the screen to wake up because while the display is off, the system is still running I guess as I managed to avoid hard-resetting my computer by using the terminal and issuing a shutdown command (going by memory, since the display is OFF). I haven't tested the workarounds suggested above but I'll keep this post updated as soon as I try. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/958279 Title: FGLRX DPMS support totally broken, fails to wake up the monitor after putting it to sleep. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1298578] Re: Brightness is low after resume from suspend, can't be increased
Typical Ubuntu-style, lots of problem reports for this problem since 13.10 but no fixes :( I think this happens more if you use two monitors and for example suspend the computer with an external monitor as primary display and secondary/laptop off and then wakeup from suspend without this external monitor. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1298578 Title: Brightness is low after resume from suspend, can't be increased To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-intel/+bug/1298578/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 958279] Re: FGLRX DPMS support totally broken, fails to wake up the monitor after putting it to sleep.
Referring to my post above... I confused one for another , I actually had to enter a TIMED shutdown command to reboot my system while testing the display switch-on/off because the system was running but not responding my inputs at all after my screen was going off. I also have tested some of the solutions I've read above and found some odd things. -- So , after installing fglrx-updates I had no xorg.conf file by default (which is ok..) ; -- I generated one with sudo amdconfig --initial and set DPMS to false , then rebooted ... this workaround actually "worked" for me in the sense that it basically prevented the system to send a standby/switch-off signal to the monitor ... instead, it was just blanking and keeping it powered on. (so far so good) -- Then out of curiousity I tried setting the DPMS back to true, after rebooting the system I noticed it was working, the display was correctly entering and exiting the standby mode. Thus, my problem was that I had no xorg.conf file by default. So yay, everything worked fine ... no, not everything actually. -- I don't know why but having an xorg.conf file somehow affects my graphic effects , for example when I'm in the KDE system-settings panel there's a fade-out effect when moving the mouse-pointer from one icon to another ... well that one graphic effect is now broken, the fading effect is glitchy and makes some artifacts when fading ... this does not happen when I have no xorg.conf file. Both ways I have something malfunctioning ... either graphics-ok + screen standby not working or the other way around. I guess I'll be keeping my /etc/X11 without an xorg.conf file and just disable the powermanagement option for display standby -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to fglrx-installer in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/958279 Title: FGLRX DPMS support totally broken, fails to wake up the monitor after putting it to sleep. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1362633] [NEW] Corrupted Mouse Cursor on primary monitor in dual-monitor KDE
Public bug reported: When moving the mouse from the secondary (right) monitor to primary (left) monitor, the cursor often becomes corrupted on the primary monitor, as seen in https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver- xorg-video-ati/+bug/360724 The cursor appears corrupted thereafter, but only on the primary monitor - it appears normal on the secondary. This does not always happen the first time the boundary is crossed from secondary to primary, but once it does occur, it persists until X.Org is restarted. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1349282] Re: The gpu-manager should allow RandR offloading without bbswitch
This bug was fixed in the package ubuntu-drivers-common - 1:0.2.98 --- ubuntu-drivers-common (1:0.2.98) utopic; urgency=medium * gpu-manager.c, gpu-manager.py: - Add support for testing core alternatives. This will be needed by fglrx. - Add the --backup-log parameter. This is only used for debugging and disabled by default. - Fix a regression that caused the gpu-manager to switch to mesa after enabling fglrx on hybrid systems (LP: #1310489). Also add a test case so that we don't regress in the future. - Check that either fglrx or nvidia is set in xorg.conf when xorg.conf is needed. - Check if kernel modules are blacklisted before choosing the driver (LP: #1310489). - Enable only GPUs with open drivers that have connected outputs. Attaching to GPUs that have no connected outputs would result in a black screen. - Allow RandR offloading even without bbswitch (LP: #1349282). - Fall back to mesa when failing to enable prime. - Do not try to enable prime if the nvidia driver is older than 331. - Do not abort if the settings for prime cannot be found. Try creating the file before failing. - Avoid false positives of unloaded modules. - Use the cleanup attribute. - Always use snprintf instead of sprintf. -- Alberto MiloneWed, 27 Aug 2014 10:39:17 +0200 ** Changed in: ubuntu-drivers-common (Ubuntu) Status: Triaged => Fix Released -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-settings in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1349282 Title: The gpu-manager should allow RandR offloading without bbswitch To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-settings/+bug/1349282/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
