[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 492782] Re: [i945gme] Mouse cursor disappears after restarting screen (xrandr / resume)
This bug is seen on Ubuntu 13.10 64-bit, as guest system, on a VMware Workstation 9.0.1 virtual machine with dual screen. The host system is Windows 7 64-bit on Lenovo Ideapad Y480N laptop, which uses Intel HD Graphis 4000, and a secondary Nvidia GT650m card. I have installed VMware tools in the guest system. To reproduce the bug, switch the virtual machine to full-screen mode, then press the "Cycle multiple monitors" button on the toolbar to expand the guest to the 2nd screen. The mouse cursor then disappears when moved to the 2nd screen, while in 1st screen it remains fine. However if you move quickly enough, you can see it remain visible for a very short moment on the 2nd screen before it vanishes. I tested using my built-in monitor as main display, the external Dell monitor as 2nd display, and vice versa. In both situations the bug exists. Workaround includes bringing out tty via Ctrl Alt F1 then back with Ctrl Alt F7, as well as simply opening up a file explorer window, which will cause the shape of the cursor to change to "wait". This fix is persistent until the vm is powered down. Locking the screen, logging out or suspending (via VMware or inside Ubuntu) will not bring back the bug. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/492782 Title: [i945gme] Mouse cursor disappears after restarting screen (xrandr / resume) To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/xf86-video-ati/+bug/492782/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1291258] [NEW] Stuck keys on Lenovo Yoga 13
Public bug reported: On the Lenovo Yoga 13 some keys, when being held down, are not released (e.g. pagedn, up arrow, etc.). Once this happens, the mouse cursor also starts scrolling in some or other direction (it can be moved with the track-pad, but keeps moving in that direction). Using an external keyboard fixes the problem. At startup, the keyboard complains about unknown key events, but I silence those using sudo setkeycodes e03e 255 sudo setkeycodes e060 255 The behavior described here happens irrespective of whether these commands were executed. My temporary work-around is to put the machine to sleep; after wakeup the keyboard works fine again. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 907381] Re: Display resolution keeps switching with external monitor connected
I am confirming this issue. My laptop is DELL Vostro 3550. BIOS A11. I am using ZorinOS since version 6, now I have installed version 7. I still have this issue. I am finding though that the issue is worse by far if I use AMD GPU than if I use Intel GPU. I switch between them with AMD CCC, however the issue is present even if I never install AMD drivers and just use Intel GPU out-of-the box with ZorinOS. So, if I use AMD GPU my monitors keep switching between resolutions, mirroring switches on and off very frequently - like more times every minute. If I use Intel GPU I can go a day without spontaneous switching of resolutions and/or mirroring displays, sometimes it happens like 2 or 3 times per day. -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg-server in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/907381 Title: Display resolution keeps switching with external monitor connected To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg-server/+bug/907381/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1291326] [NEW] Ubuntu 14.04 fail to wakeup from sleep
Public bug reported: I'm using Kubuntu 14.04 64 bit on a Dell E5440 machine. After installing the alpha2 version two weeks ago wakeup from sleep was working fine. I update the system everyday and during last week something broke this feature. From then I have updated the bios (from A00 version June 2013 to A04 January 2014) and I've seen other bugs (VGA out among others) fixed, but not this one. When the system wakes from sleep the login screen appears, but mouse/keyboard don't working. I have found that plugin something to the VGA out and unplugin it will bring mouse/keyboard alive again, but this solution only works for the first time I enter sleep mode. Ctrl+Alt+F6 followed by Ctrl+Alt+F7 to return to the graphics mode ends with a black screen (the mouse works, but no login is possible). I installed the graphics driver with Optimus support (Prime), keeping active the Nvidia card GT720M. [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1290147] Re: XORG crashed after installing fglrx-updates
** Description changed: I am not sure if this qualifies as a bug. I took our computer downstairs to a workbench to put an SSD in and re-install the OS. On my bench downstairs I use an old CRT monitor, and I think that is the issue. 14.04 worked after installing via a usb. I added the proprietary drivers (a couple of times, through the apt-get packages and the additional software dialouge.) Every time I installed the ATI drivers, the monitor would blank out and turn off when the unity greeter screen came up. I could still switch to a terminal (ctrl-alt-f1) and try to fix things. I think the problem is that after installing the fglrx packages (either fglrx or fglrx updates) the resolution or refresh rate go to something the (old) workbench monitor does not support. If it matters, I did run 'amdconfig --initial' before rebooting. After re-installing the ati drivers a few times, it occured to me that the resolution was the issue. I was able to log in to unity, pull up a terminal and reboot by entering the appropriate keystrokes. So I think that X was working. I took the box back upstairs, and it seems to be fine. So as a low-priority bug, it appears that 14.04 may not work well with older monitors. + + [77.712] (EE) Backtrace: + [77.722] (EE) 0: /usr/bin/X (xorg_backtrace+0x48) [0x7f7771ca0958] + [77.722] (EE) 1: /usr/bin/X (0x7f7771af8000+0x1ac649) [0x7f7771ca4649] + [77.722] (EE) 2: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpthread.so.0 (0x7f7770bd8000+0x10330) [0x7f7770be8330] + [77.722] (EE) 3: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libpciaccess.so.0 (0x7f7770df8000+0x4cce) [0x7f7770dfccce] + [77.722] (EE) 4: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (amd_xs113_int10_x_inb+0x46) [0x7f776d88b3e6] + [77.722] (EE) 5: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (0x7f776cef+0x9940c5) [0x7f776d8840c5] + [77.723] (EE) 6: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (X86EMU_exec+0xa5) [0x7f776d877815] + [77.723] (EE) 7: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (amd_xs113_int10_xf86ExecX86int10+0x46) [0x7f776d88c546] + [77.723] (EE) 8: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (xf86ExecX86int10+0xd) [0x7f776d2d597d] + [77.723] (EE) 9: /usr/lib/xorg/modules/libvbe.so (VBESetVBEMode+0x9d) [0x7f776c88a3ad] + [77.723] (EE) 10: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (0x7f776cef+0x41a5e3) [0x7f776d30a5e3] + [77.723] (EE) 11: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (atiddxVBESetConsoleMode+0x44) [0x7f776d30a434] + [77.723] (EE) 12: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (xdl_xs115_atiddxFreeScreen+0x73e) [0x7f776d4a345e] + [77.723] (EE) 13: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (xdl_xs115_atiddxCloseScreen+0x321) [0x7f776d4a2a81] + [77.726] (EE) 14: /usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/xorg/extra-modules/extra-modules.dpkg-tmp/modules/drivers/fglrx_drv.so (0x7f776cef+0xa0b006) [0x7f776d8fb006] + [77.727] (EE) 15: /usr/bin/X (0x7f7771af8000+0xe42c6) [0x7f7771bdc2c6] + [77.727] (EE) 16: /usr/bin/X (0x7f7771af8000+0x12bd54) [0x7f7771c23d54] + [77.727] (EE) 17: /usr/bin/X (0x7f7771af8000+0x12d5a3) [0x7f7771c255a3] + [77.727] (EE) 18: /usr/bin/X (0x7f7771af8000+0x599a7) [0x7f7771b519a7] + [77.728] (EE) 19: /lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6 (__libc_start_main+0xf5) [0x7f776f5f1ec5] + [77.728] (EE) 20: /usr/bin/X (0x7f7771af8000+0x44e7e) [0x7f7771b3ce7e] + [77.728] (EE) + [77.728] (EE) Segmentation fault at address 0x0 + ProblemType: Crash DistroRelease: Ubuntu 14.04 Package: xserver-xorg-core 2:1.15.0-1ubuntu6 ProcVersionSignature: Ubuntu 3.13.0-16.36-generic 3.13.5 Uname: Linux 3.13.0-16-generic x86_64 NonfreeKernelModules: wl fglrx .tmp.unity.support.test.0: - + ApportVersion: 2.13.3-0ubuntu1 Architecture: amd64 CompizPlugins: No value set for `/apps/compiz-1/general/screen0/options/active_plugins' CompositorRunning: compiz CompositorUnredirectDriverBlacklist: '(nouveau|Intel).*Mesa 8.0' CompositorUnredirectFSW: true CrashCounter: 1 Date: Sun Mar 9 17:36:40 2014 DistUpgraded: Fresh install DistroCodename: trusty DistroVariant: ubuntu DkmsStatus: - bcmwl, 6.30.223.141+bdcom, 3.13.0-16-generic, x86_64: installed - fglrx, 13.350, 3.13.0-16-generic, x86_64: installed + bcmwl, 6.30.223.141+bdcom, 3.13.0-16-generic, x86_64: installed + fglrx, 13.350, 3.13.0-16-generic, x86_64: installed ExecutablePath: /usr/bin/Xorg GraphicsCard: - Advanced Micro Devices,

I had the same problem on my Thinpad T60 using Xubuntu 13.10, here is how I solved it: sudo cp /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/hotkey_all_mask /sys/devices/platform/thinkpad_acpi/hotkey_mask This change only remains during your active session, so test it out first and if it works add the above line (minus sudo) to /etc/rc.local -- You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xorg in Ubuntu. https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/1242259 Title: Thinkpad x1 Volume up down and mute keys stopped working after upgrade to Ubuntu 13.10 To manage notifications about this bug go to: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1242259/+subscriptions ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
