[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 996168] Re: 10de:032c nouveau doesn't render items on lower third of desktop

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
thom, thank you for your comment. Regarding the severe performance regression
going from 12.04 to 14.04, I would file a new report via a terminal so this
could be bisected and dealt with separately via a terminal:
ubuntu-bug xorg

Regarding the original issue noted in the Bug Description, I am closing
this report because as per your comment
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xserver-xorg-video-
nouveau/+bug/996168/comments/23 the bug has been fixed in the latest
development version of Ubuntu - Trusty Tahr.

This is a significant bug in Ubuntu. If you need a fix for the bug in
previous versions of Ubuntu, please perform as much as possible of the
SRU Procedure [1] to bring the need to a developer's attention.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1092479] Re: Kernel 3.2.0-35-generic-pae does not boot

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Gert de Boer, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1245662] Re: Sticky Keys not released after mouse action.

2014-01-09 Thread dotancohen
I'll not update the BIOS on this machine for unrelated reasons. For one
thing, this is obviously not a BIOS issue, so I suspect that comment #28
was an automated reply and not a real attempt at resolving this issue.

Additionally, I can verify the issue on all six computers that I've
tested on (home computer, work computer, mother-in-law's computer, a
neighbour who uses Kubuntu, and two co-workers who use Kubuntu and
Ubuntu). These are all different systems. Furthermore, Rob Rosenbaum has
confirmed the issue in this bug and others have confirmed the issue in
other forums.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1108832] Re: dhcp-server

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Gordon McIntosh, thank you for taking the time to report this and
helping to make Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug
because your description didn't include enough information. You may find
it helpful to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html and
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/ReportingBugs . We'd be grateful if you would
then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. The specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. The behavior you expected, and
3. The behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1124299] [NEW] Wrong vertical refresh with Nouveau

2014-01-09 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Hello,
I'm using Linux Mint 14 MATE, 3.5.0-23 x64 with a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 460 video
card and a ViewSonic VG1921wm monitor.
Using the NVIDIA privative driver I can set the monitor resolution to 1440x900
@ 75Hz in Menu > Preferences > Monitors. Then with the monitor buttons I look
in Information and it says that vertical frecuency is 74.8Hz, and when I set it
to 1440x900 @ 60Hz, the monitor says that vertical frecuency is 59.9Hz, namely:
all works well.

But when I'm using Nouveau it has no effect, wathever I set in Menu >
Preferences > Monitors (as user or as root, is the same) the information
of my monitor always shows a vertical frecuency of 59.9Hz.

My graphical system is crashing with some applications at fullscreen
using Nouveau finally showing a "your x-system is bad configured" (or
something like that) message, nevertheless I haven't configured anything
else than the refresh rate in Menu > Preferences > Monitors since I
installed Linux Mint, I don't know if it may be related.

I've already reported this problem in the Linux Mint forum and they've
linked me here. The thread is
http://forums.linuxmint.com/viewtopic.php?f=59&t=125253 if your want to
take a look.

1) The release of Ubuntu you are using, via 'lsb_release -rd' or System ->
About Ubuntu

*** Linux Mint 14 Nadia

 2) The version of the package you are using, via 'apt-cache policy
pkgname' or by checking in Software Center

*** I don't know if it's a concrete package bug or the nouveau driver is
releated to the kernel... I'm not sure which package is failing.

 3) What you expected to happen

*** Vertical frecuency showed by my monitor should me the same is selected in
Menu > Preferences > Monitors

4) What happened instead

*** My monitor always shows 60 Hz as vertical refresh although I select
75 Hz in Linux Mint

What can I do in order to get the real 1440x900@75Hz resolution with
Nouveau?

Judest, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-ati REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Re: [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1189497] Re: regression using SNA acceleration for Intel X driver

2014-01-09 Thread Thomas Chatain
Hello,

If there is an easy way to do a backport, this would be great: SNA looks
much nicer (when it works!) than UXA on my computer. This would also
allow me to test the new SNA more intensively.

:)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1157940] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Francis Ginther, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

Fetched the current ISO image and brought it to an USB stick already.
I'll do the testing in the next days, but I'm a bit busy to do so right

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 907381] Re: Display resolution keeps switching with external monitor connected

2014-01-09 Thread Lee Willis
Hi Christopher,

Thanks for taking the time to look at this. I've updated the BIOS as
requested.

$ sudo dmidecode -s bios-version && sudo dmidecode -s bios-release-date
A11
08/03/2012

However I still see the display resolution switches after this (On
Saucy). I note that I still receive the dmesg warnings

[ 16.074915] [drm] Wrong MCH_SSKPD value: 0x16040307
[ 16.074917] [drm] This can cause pipe underruns and display issues.
[ 16.074918] [drm] Please upgrade your BIOS to fix this.

I can re-run the apport-collect if that's helpful?

I'll try with the dev release live CD later today and report back.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1205902] Re: nouveau drivers cause frequent lockups - "GPU Lockup"

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Brian A, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been any
activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an issue? If
so, could you please test for this with the latest development release
of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from http://cdimage.ubuntu.com
/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1207972] Re: Xorg crashed with SIGABRT

2014-01-09 Thread Michael Sparmann
This crash occurred in a certain situation after nouveau switches to
software rendering because of a GPU lockup. This used to happen once
every few days on 13.04.

After the upgrade to 13.10 nouveau became completely unusable with GPU lockups
and Xorg crashes happening every few minutes, causing me to go back to the
proprietary nvidia driver, despite of the performance issues with that one.
So while I have no reason to assume that this bug is fixed, I cannot easily
test it anymore, as I'm not using nouveau anymore.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1135620] Re: System boots in text mode and X doesn't start

2014-01-09 Thread Paolo Amoroso
I upgraded to Ubuntu 13.10 with the proprietary nVidia drivers, the ones
accessible from the Ubuntu system settings, which fixed the issue. Now
crashes are a thing of the past and Ubuntu is rock-solid stable. Thanks!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1217585] Re: System hangs after some time with nouveau and GT240

2014-01-09 Thread Christopher M. Penalver
Alistair Buxton, this bug was reported a while ago and there hasn't been
any activity in it recently. We were wondering if this is still an
issue? If so, could you please test for this with the latest development
release of Ubuntu? ISO images are available from
http://cdimage.ubuntu.com/daily-live/current/ .

If it remains an issue, could you please run the following command in
the development release from a Terminal
(Applications->Accessories->Terminal), as it will automatically gather
and attach updated debug information to this report:

apport-collect -p xserver-xorg-video-nouveau REPLACE-WITH-BUG-NUMBER

Please note, given that the information from the prior release is
already available, doing this on a release prior to the development one
would not be helpful.

Thank you for your understanding.
