[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1084960] [NEW] Resume from Standby mode doesn't work with Nouveau on Geforce GT430

2012-11-30 Thread Jan Rathmann
Public bug reported:

Hello,

if I'm using the Nouveau driver with my graphics board (Geforce GT430),
standby mode (a.k.a. suspend-to-ram) does not work.

Going into standby mode itself works, but when I turn my PC back on, the
monitor shows just a kind of colorful "noise" with the usual mouse
cursor (the cursor itself is displayed properly). Sometimes it's
possible to move the cursor a bit, but the system can't be used anymore
and has to rebooted with the Alt+Print+b keycombo.

This also happens on Quantal when I use the Nouveau driver.

With the propritary Nvidia driver, standby mode works fine.

Kind regards,
Jan

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085166] [NEW] Screen stays black after grub. Suspend activates it.

2012-11-30 Thread peterrus
Public bug reported:

On my Asus UX32V (Intel HD4000) the screen stays black after grub. I do
not see plymouth nor the login screen. When suspending to ram, and
waking up the device the screen works fine. External monitors also work
fine (when plugged in before boottime).

This happens at:
linux-image-3.5.0-19-generic
linux-image-3.5.0-18-generic
linux-image-3.5.0-17-generic

but not at

linux-image-3.5.0-10-generic

Everything between is not tested (Reinstalled my system first to make
sure I made no configuration errors)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085168] [NEW] 16 Bit colours / Banding on Intel HD4000

2012-11-30 Thread peterrus
Public bug reported:

On my Asus Zenbook UX32V (Intel HD4000) I experience 16bit
colours/banding on the internal LCD panel. The external monitor works
fine (no banding is to be seen).

This happens on at least:
linux-image-3.5.0-19-generic
linux-image-3.5.0-18-generic
linux-image-3.5.0-17-generic

and not on
linux-image-3.5.0-10-generic

Others were not tested as I reinstalled my system.

This issue might be related to
https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/xorg/+bug/1085166 in some way
as they started occuring at the same time (This sounds vague, and it
indeed is as I only noticed after doing some more kernel updates, so I
am not sure where this issue came up)

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1081122] Re: x11proto-(gl, randr, dri2)-dev need to be updated for backport stack

2012-11-30 Thread Steve Langasek
Hello Maarten, or anyone else affected,

Accepted x11proto-dri2 into precise-proposed. The package will build now
and be available at http://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/x11proto-
dri2/2.8-1~precise1 in a few hours, and then in the -proposed
repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update
out to other Ubuntu users.

If this package fixes the bug for you, please change the bug tag from
verification-needed to verification-done. If it does not, change the
tag to verification-failed. In either case, details of your testing
will help us make a better decision.

Further information regarding the verification process can be found at
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/QATeam/PerformingSRUVerification . Thank you in
advance!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085262] [NEW] whole computer freezes and logs out (see attached picture)

2012-11-30 Thread Alexander T. Stanton
Public bug reported:

After several re-installs of 12.10 I have gotten this crash several
times over. Everything seems to be working fine then it all slows down
to a halt, then I hear the log out sound and I get this on my screen
(see picture) nothing responds and I am forced to restart. Its been the
same 3 or four times completely by surprise. Half the screen is what I
was working on, and the other half is a scrambled version of the log in
screen. I am starting to suspect its my graphics card (GT218 [GeForce
210]) which has been working fine until 12.10, but I'm not sure. I
don't have the know how to track this bug, if I knew how to track what
the system is doing in the background I could be more helpfull. But
this is all I got.

Thanks in advanced!

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085266] [NEW] nvidia-graphics-driver-tegra needs developer package

2012-11-30 Thread Marc Dietrich
Public bug reported:

https://gitorious.org/nvtegra-gst contains the source code for the
nvidia gstreamer plugin which is required for hardware accelerated video
playback. The source depends on some header files (in nv_headers
directory) which IMHO belongs to the nvidia-graphics-driver-tegra
package.

Please create an nvidia-graphics-driver-tegra-dev package which include
these headers (and add .so link to libGLESv2.so.2).

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 774938] Re: Erratic cursor movement when using "Coordinate Transformation Matrix"

2012-11-30 Thread Chris MacGregor
The solution for the CTM problem (which is what causes the wacky cursor
jumping) is this patch, which was accepted into upstream on 19 Nov 2012;
it is not yet in precise-proposed, but I was able to rebuild xorg-
server-1.13.0 (from 12.10) with this patch and the problem went away:

http://www.mail-archive.com/xorg-devel@lists.x.org/msg33742.html

There is another version of the patch floating around somewhere if you
want to fix 12.04.

IMHO, there is no good reason to break evdev's swap and invert
properties, though. For the simple rotation case, they seem like the
obvious right thing to use. Why should they not work?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085280] Re: bugs

2012-11-30 Thread Phillip Susi
Thank you for taking the time to report this bug and helping to make
Ubuntu better. Unfortunately, we cannot work on this bug because your
description didn't include enough information. You may find it helpful
to read "How to report bugs effectively"
http://www.chiark.greenend.org.uk/~sgtatham/bugs.html. We'd be grateful
if you would then provide a more complete description of the problem.

We have instructions on debugging some types of problems at
http://wiki.ubuntu.com/DebuggingProcedures

At a minimum, we need:
1. the specific steps or actions you took that caused you to encounter the
problem,
2. the behavior you expected, and
3. the behavior you actually encountered (in as much detail as possible).
Thanks!

It seems that the latest fglrx release is not based on the github
(which is 2 months old), you can have a look here:
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/fglrx-installer-updates

I have made a branch against fglrx-installer here:
https://code.launchpad.net/~andrikos/ubuntu/quantal/fglrx-installer/fix-switch-to-igpu

If I need to do also another against fglrx-installer-updates, it's ok
for me, I can do it without any problem.

Best regards,
Nikos

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085338] [NEW] One pixel column that belongs in one monitor shows up in the other instead

2012-11-30 Thread shankao
Public bug reported:

I have configured the laptop screen in the left and a external monitor
in the right. On the left most part of the monitor, I can see 1 column
of pixels that belong to the content that is in the right most part of
the laptop.

Strangely, it does not show up when I try to do a screenshot, but is
quite evident when watching a fullscreen movie in the monitor, for
example.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1085344] [NEW] get incorrect keyboard layout in console in 12.04

2012-11-30 Thread q.dinar
Public bug reported:

(i copy my irc chat posts:)
hello. i have installed 12.04 with russian, then selected tatar and english
layouts, and i have {only or unchangable } russian layout in ctrl+alt+f1 . i
have tried dpkg reconfigure console-data, it helped, but become only english,
and become russian back after restart. then i tried dpkg reconfigure
console-setup ... it did not help as i remember .. i should rstart something ..
or reboot .. i ll look
dont work
sudo dpkg-reconfigure keyboard-configuration also dont work
(end of irc)
also i have now gray squares in console instead of letters, that is probably
after "... console-setup". (and i say about what i have login prompt, i cannot
even login with that layout).
