[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1057000] Re: [Ubuntu 12.04.1/12.10] nVidia drivers 304.51 prevent autohidden Unity launcher from revealing

2012-10-13 Thread Andrew Flegg
I've also found that having synergys running causes additional problems
if there is a screen configured to the left.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1057000] Re: [Ubuntu 12.04.1/12.10] nVidia drivers 304.51 prevent autohidden Unity launcher from revealing

2012-10-13 Thread Bryce Harrington
Thanks for the extra feedback. I've communicated this bug to NVIDIA,
and they confirm it is due to a recent change in the driver, and I
expect we'll see a fix in an updated driver.

If I create a minimal xorg.conf the system boots into graphical mode.

xorg.conf:

Driver "intel"
EndSection

Hope this information is helpful.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066245] [NEW] Graphics some times runs very slow

2012-10-13 Thread Giordano Battilana
Public bug reported:

Hi,

recently I noticed that the graphical performances of ubuntu have
degraded in certain use cases.

I play quite often with the game hedgewars and I never had troubles in running
it full screen.
Since few weeks ago, if I play the game full screen now it runs very sluggishly.
This behavior appeared after some package upgrade happened around 1 month ago,
I think.

If I play the game in windowed mode, it plays fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 223774] Re: [HARDY] NoDDC option doesn't work for trident cyberblade/i1 resulting in system lockup

2012-10-13 Thread Lloyd Ewing
I believe this problem still exists in 10.04 Lucid. My attempts to
install 10.04 appear to fail as described in this bug.

My computer is a Toshiba 7200CT, and the specs say that the video is a
"Trident CyberBlade e-4 128-bit graphics accelerator". In xorg.conf it
lists "BoardName Cyber 9540", which seems to be the correct driver.
(The NoDCC work around does not help.)

I don't see a way to "tag the bug" to indicate that it affects Lucid.
Would it improve the chances of fixing this bug it I try to install the
Natty version of Ubuntu?

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 977804] Re: Unity crashes when many windows are opened (intel_do_flush_locked failed: No space left on device)

2012-10-13 Thread Henk Huitema
With my 1920x1200 resolution I hit this bug with only my primary laptop screen.
It is still present in 12.10. It makes Ubuntu unusable, since unity-2d is not
available anymore. I've ran into this bug consistently since a few years, never
bothered to investigate, just switched to 2d. Now the best analysis I've found
is by Adam Jackson:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066262] [NEW] Catalyst overscan settings not working after reboot

2012-10-13 Thread Johan Hult
Public bug reported:

I am using ubuntu 12.10 beta 2 with teh latest updates and have
activated the FGLRX-driver (updates version).

I have started using the restricted FGLRX-drivers and after adjusting
overscan values for my moniter everything looks fine, but after every
reboot it seems as if the overscan values I set in the catalyst control
center are not implemented.

The value itself is correct in the control center (0%), but the system
seems to not react correctly to it. As soon as I move the overscan dial,
it starts to react to the overscan % value used.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066313] [NEW] Firefox has not hardware acceletration at all with proprietary drivers

2012-10-13 Thread razor7
Public bug reported:

After months of testing, I can't find any solution for this, Firefox has
not hardware acceletration at all with proprietary drivers.

Installed latest ATi drivers from ATi official package, creating distro
specific packages.

Driver info:
Downloaded Package: amd-driver-installer-12.6-legacy-x86.x86_64
Driver version: 8.97.100.3-120703a-143048C-ATI

Hardware: Sapphire ATi Radeon HD4890 1GB DDR5 (It's ok for you to run
Unity?, and what do you think Firefox?, It's ok?)

Using Ubuntu 12.04 LTS (yes, lts, shouldn't be ok with hardware
acceleration?, and yes, Firefox is part of the standar bundled
software!)

Maybe this threads can support this bug report to get it fixed ASAP

Really poor performance after opening some programs (ATi HD4890 Gallium 0.4)
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1980663

Video Accelleration OK, but Firefox performance quite poor!
http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1981057

Mozilla Firefox 12 is very slow on Ubuntu 12.04 LTS.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1062253] Re: Cannot install 12.10 beta 2, nouveau doesn't recognise nVidia Geforce GTX 560

2012-10-13 Thread Dmitrijs Ledkovs
@ M. van der Heide sure you assign it to ubiquity (the graphical)
install _until_ somebody triages to be a problem in another package.
There are hundreds of software packages that get you the graphical
installer, and we do need to start narrowing it down. Usually we start
with ubiquity and then filter down to the actually package with the bug.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 926917] Re: Mouse wheel tilt not works

2012-10-13 Thread Val
Thank you pgreenland! With this additional change, horizontal scrolling
is no longer inverted.

The file to edit is actually src/evdev.c, not src/evdec.c. It should be
obvious, but I thought I should mention for the convenience of future
readers of this thread.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066189] [NEW] USB keyboard & mouse frequently stops working

2012-10-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Description:Ubuntu 12.10
Release:12.10

linux:
  Installed: (none)
  Candidate: 3.5.0.17.19
  Version table:
 3.5.0.17.19 0
500 http://my.archive.ubuntu.com/ubuntu/ quantal/main amd64 Packages

My USB keyboard and mouse would randomly stop working in Ubuntu 12.10.
Physically detaching then reattaching the peripherals cause them to work
again for a time. There doesn't seem to be a consistent time to when it
stops working and usually only one or the other stops but not both at
the same time.

Testing on Windows 7 doesn't give any such problems so the hardware
seems to be fine.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1066388] [NEW] xinput needs a new release for some apps

2012-10-13 Thread Sandra Karuving
Public bug reported:

the application "synaptiks" in kubuntu will not work with the old
version of xinput. we get following error:

Version error
The version of the XInput extension installed on your system is too old.
Version 2.0 was found, but at least version 2.0 is required.
If you want to be able to configure your touchpad, you have to upgrade your
system to a recent release of the Xorg display server.

This may likely involve a complete upgrade of your system. Please excuse
this inconvenience, but there is no way to make touchpad configuration

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1043413] [NEW] The scrollwheel of my mouse wont work correctly anymore

2012-10-13 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Description:Ubuntu 12.04.1 LTS
Release:12.04

I currently have connected two different mouse' and keyboards. One is a
Logitech combo, connected with one usb dongle (Mouse: Logitech MX620, Keyboard:
Pro2800 Cordelless Desktop)
Second one is a cable connected usb mouse [could not find designation] and a
ps2 connected logitech access deluxe
There was no problems with that combos at all, until now. My Scrolwheel of the
mx620 works only sometimes anymore (most time, not) Every key of that mouse
works fine. Only the wheel not. I dont know where it comes from. If I try to
scroll with the other, usb connected mouse, that works too.

Here is an output of lsusb:

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 1040072] Re: too big background, crashes lightdm to CL.

2012-10-13 Thread Matt Fischer
I don't believe this is related at all to lightdm, more likely your
graphics driver. I'm going to move it there, but mark it Incomplete.
Can you please add the version of the xserver you are running and also
attach your full /var/log/Xorg.0.log?

Also if this is resolved, please mark it Invalid. Thanks.

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 966744] Re: [i965] Resume from suspend leaves me with black screen or a screen of the desktop before it suspended. Compiz hung in intel_update_renderbuffers() from intel_prepare_r

2012-10-13 Thread bmomjian
I found an easy way to get this update. This might be obvioius to experienced
Ubuntu users, but it wasn't obvious to me.

In System Tools/Administration/Update Manager, under Settings/Updates, check
Pre-release Updates. Then close the window and click Check. You will see a
lot of proposed updates. Go to the top and uncheck the heading Propsed
Updates, then scroll to the bottom and just check the Intel driver update.
Choose Install Updates, then go back to Settings/Update and uncheck Pre-release
Updates, close the window, and reboot. This will get you just the Intel driver
update.
