[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 577308] Re: computer freezes on screensaver after upgrade to 10.04
OK, tried Workaround A, same problem but get blank screen instead of flashing lines. Tried an earlier kernel and that gives me same problem but screen freezes as is. So it appears that I am on the problem, but don't have the technical ability to solve it. Tried Workaround C but couldn't get the ppa to install. Would it be best to do a disk format and clean install back to 9.x? I'll lose some customization but get my computer back working again. Thanks again for your help. -- computer freezes on screensaver after upgrade to 10.04 https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/577308 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-intel in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 577764] [NEW] Synaptic touchpad settings do change but have no effect on behavior
You have been subscribed to a public bug: Binary package hint: synaptic the problem occured with lucid upgrade, formerly it was ok (using synclient + syndaemon did what it should). With lucid neither synclient, nor kcm-touchpad nor xorg.conf changes seem to have any effect on the behavior of the touchpad. When i change the settings in kcm-touchpad module and check with "synclient -l" the settings are indeed changed, however, they have no effect, at least the sensitivity and enable/disable alltogether do not work. ** Affects: xserver-xorg-input-synaptics (Ubuntu) Importance: Undecided Status: New -- Synaptic touchpad settings do change but have no effect on behavior https://bugs.edge.launchpad.net/bugs/577764 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-input-synaptics in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 578673] [NEW] Resume doesn't work on a Latitude E6410
Public bug reported: Binary package hint: xorg Laptop: - Latitude E6410 Core i5 with an intel video card. - Clean Lucid Lynx install. Problem: it doesn't resume at all, it seems that "suspend" in a correct way but when i open the laptop trying to resume, i just get a black screen. I've been searching around launchpad and others related sites with no luck. I've already tested: - Turn off DRI at xorg.conf. No results. - Update xserver-xorg-video-intel to 2.11 (from ubuntu-x-swat ppa repository). Same problem. - I've tried 2.6.31-10-rt from official ubuntu repositories with the same result. - Also, I've tried 2.6.33, 2.6.34-rc6 and 2.6.34-rc7 from kernel ppa but it seems that my laptop "freeze" on start with all of these kernels. In general, my video card is a little anoying, Lucid doesn't works well with this intel video card (no resume, no scroll on the touchpad by default, a lot of problems with external monitors, ...). [Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 352322] Re: startx from CD boot fails on nvidia card
Thank you for reporting this issue about xserver-xorg-video-nv. Starting with Lucid, Ubuntu is transitioning to using the -nouveau video driver by default instead of -nv. The reason for this change is because upstream development for the -nv driver has been quite slow. We are quite pleased with the upstream development speed for -nouveau, and hope this will translate into swifter bug fixes as well. Because of this, I'm closing this bug report at this time. I'm marking it incomplete because what you describe is probably a valid issue, but we do not have further plans to work on it in Ubuntu. If you would still like to see this issue investigated, I would encourage you to file it upstream at http://bugs.freedesktop.org/. ** Changed in: xserver-xorg-video-nv (Ubuntu) Status: New => Incomplete -- startx from CD boot fails on nvidia card https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/352322 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to xserver-xorg-video-nv in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

[Ubuntu-x-swat] [Bug 573557] Re: nvidia-current 195.36.15 + kernel 2.6.32 + dual cards crashes system
@doctordruidphd First of all, the fact that X starts (as you can see kdm) is a clear sign that you're not experiencing the same issue any more. Furthermore, as I said in bug #548362, installing the driver from the nvidia installer must have left your system in a broken state (as you're not using the alternatives system any more). See the following comment: https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/nvidia-graphics-drivers/+bug/548362/comments/37 At this point I suggest that you either keep using the nvidia installer or that you perform a clean installation of Ubuntu and use only our packages. -- nvidia-current 195.36.15 + kernel 2.6.32 + dual cards crashes system https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/573557 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu-X, which is subscribed to nvidia-graphics-drivers in ubuntu. ___ Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat Post to : ubuntu-x-swat@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-x-swat More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp

The videocard is ATI Technologies Inc RV515 [Radeon X1300], and it was using radeon driver, back when it was working ( in fact I still have the Xorg.log from before the lucid upgrade: http://www.davidfaure.fr/2010/Xorg.0.log.ok.before.lucid ) No idea what it's doing now, since it hangs almost right away, even in failsafe mode.
