[ubuntu-uk] connecting an EXT filesystem to my xbox?

2011-12-13 Thread javadayaz
Hi,

As you all know i recently bought a SATA hard drive enclosure for my hard
drives from my Ubuntu system. This was in formatted in EXT3/4 filesystem.

I still have some videos on there in .avi format but i know the xbox360
doesnt play nice with EXT.

Does anyone have a workaround?

The enclosure has a USB connection which i would connect to the 360!

I believe the best you could do is backup the media to another
machine, format the hard drive to FAT (I am not sure about NTFS) and
then restore the media to the drive.

This would obviously remove everything from the drive that you don't
backup but it will work.

It doesn't look like the Xbox360 supports ext3/4 , wouldn't expect it to
really. You could install something like Mediatomb or Twonky on a machine
and serve over UPnP to the Media Centre.

Re: [ubuntu-uk] Computer fairs, my blog

2011-12-13 Thread Gareth France
Just to inform anyone who's interested I've set up a subscribe to RSS feed
button on my blog. Hopefully that should save me having to post an update
on here every time I post something!

I have to completely agree with Alan Cocks. Sadly when I learnt about this i
was completely set in the trap: facebook and skype for example. And i got
friends and family into it as well. It is difficult to convince them back. I am
having play around with diaspora* and trisquel.
