[Bug 516040] Re: dovecot sieve plugin renamed from cmusieve to sieve

2010-05-10 Thread Matt Zimmerman
The dovecot-postfix issue is bug 573345. This bug is NOT a duplicate of
that one (but has been addressed in the release notes).

** This bug is no longer a duplicate of bug 573345

This bug is about the fact that the plugin was renamed, and this affects
people who have configured dovecot to use the plugin (including those who do
not use postfix-dovecot).

The other bug is about the fact that postfix-dovecot refers explicitly to
the old name, and needs to be changed to use the new name.

I've added this bug to https://wiki.ubuntu.com/TechnicalBoardAgenda for
the next meeting, which is tomorrow, 25 Jan at 1500 UTC. The issues seem
pretty clear from the comments, so I think we can discuss it regardless
of who shows up. Folks who are interested in this issue are encouraged
to attend, but I don't think we need to block on someone stepping
forward to represent at the meeting.

Were you able to replicate the bug with the previous version of KVM? If
not, it's hard to tell whether the problem is fixed, or if your case didn't
trigger it.

One hint from the original report was that the device in question had
multiple interfaces. Did your device have that property?

I don't have the device handy to try to reconfirm the original issue, so
let's leave it closed for now. If the problem turns up again, hopefully

[Bug 541486] Re: ubuntu-bug eucalyptus-common attaches massive files

2010-03-18 Thread Matt Zimmerman
According to the upstream developers at the time, it was considered
appropriate to gather these logs for bug reports. Perhaps the real bug
is that they are huge (not rotated often enough or too verbose by
default)? Feel free to do as you feel is best with the apport hook in
any case.

Separately, it might be nice if apport offered the option to selectively
delete certain attachments where the submitter could be certain they
were not relevant (or did not wish to disclose private data). I'll file
a wishlist bug about that.

[Bug 217815] Re: When selecting LVM Crypt, erase never ends

2008-04-17 Thread Matt Zimmerman
I just tested an encrypted configuration on real hardware using the
kubuntu alternate amd64 ISO (20080417.1), and can only confirm some of
the symptoms:

1. It was impossible to cancel the erasure while it was in progress.
The Cancel button did not have focus, and there was no response when
pressing tab.

2. Erasing took a very long time! There was no indication of progress,
but with the size of the disk I was using, 1% is a lot, so I probably
aborted before it would have displayed any progress.

I did not wait for it to finish, but I was able to switch to a text
console with alt+f2 and confirm that blockdev-wipe was running, and
there was plenty of disk activity, so I saw no indication that there was
a hang in my case.

[Bug 217815] Re: Installation stalls randomly until a key is pressed

2008-04-18 Thread Matt Zimmerman
Jamie, where does it stall for you, if not during the erase stage?

My tests have all been on a Core 2 Duo T7500 and I haven't been able to
reproduce the problem at all despite several test installations using
alternate install CDs.

Is this specific to the server kernel?

** Summary changed:

- When selecting LVM Crypt, erase never ends
+ Installation stalls randomly until a key is pressed

** Description changed:

- LATEST BUILD TESTED:
- 20080416
-
- Using Hardy Server 64bit
- - Select Guided partioning LVM Crypt
- - Erasing the partition never ends (stuck at 27%) and there no more disk
activity (waited 10 minutes)
- - One can press cancel and the installation continues...
-
- Test done under KVM (if it has an impact)
+ There are several reports, both in KVM and on real hardware, of a
+ problem where the installation process will stall, and no further
+ progress is made until a key is pressed. This is believed to be a
+ kernel issue, which is resolved by initiating some interrupt processing
+ activity.

Re: [Bug 217815] Re: Installation stalls randomly until a key is pressed

2008-04-18 Thread Matt Zimmerman
Current thinking is that there are probably two separate issues here:

 1. A problem specific to the KVM virtual environment
 2. A problem specific to a particular hardware type.

As such, I've un-duped bug 217849.

Only if the bug is in the guest kernel. This could be an issue with KVM
itself, or with the host side.

It's a custom program, actually, blockdev-wipe (in the partman-crypto
package).

Note also that there are reports of similar behaviour in other parts of the
installer, which aren't necessarily as I/O intensive.

The problem originally described in this bug report has been isolated, and

[Bug 264306] [NEW] Panic: file sieve-cmu.c: line 88 (unfold_header): assertion failed: (str[i] == ' ' || str[i] == '\t')

2008-09-03 Thread Matt Zimmerman
Public bug reported:

I have four (spam) emails in an IMAP mailbox which trigger this failure
when downloaded via fetchmail and fed to dovecot's LDA:

I can reproduce the failure using the attached mbox as follows:

formail -s /usr/lib/dovecot/deliver -c ~/mail/dovecot.conf <

I've reproduced the bugs with a minimal dovecot.conf and sieve.conf as
follows:

dovecot.conf:

log_path = /tmp/dovecot-264306/mail.log
mail_plugins = cmusieve

plugin {
sieve = /tmp/dovecot-264306/sieve.conf
}

sieve.conf:

[Bug 328445] [NEW] [Jaunty/amd64] Agent admitted failure to sign using the key.

2009-02-12 Thread Matt Zimmerman
Public bug reported:

Symptoms are similar to bug 201786, but as advised in that bug by
Sebastien, I'm filing this separately.

I'm unable to use public key authentication while the agent is running,
even if I specify a key with the -i option.

perseus:[~] ssh -i .ssh/a_keyfile some_host
Agent admitted failure to sign using the key.
Agent admitted failure to sign using the key.
Agent admitted failure to sign using the key.
Password:

ssh-add -l shows some keys in the agent, but they're unusable. This
started happening in the past day or two, probably since a recent reboot
(and thus new agent).

Architecture: amd64
DistroRelease: Ubuntu 9.04
Package: openssh-client 1:5.1p1-5ubuntu1

 LC_COLLATE=C

Less than ideal, perhaps, but certainly worth the tradeoff in my opinion.
The only cost should be in storage space, and there presumably aren't very
many modules for the EC2 kernel.

The images should do what is necessary to support both UEC and EC2 very
well, until such time as we find that it would be more effective to maintain
two separate images.

The -virtual kernel, I believe, includes all of the usual stuff that the
-server kernel ships, but subtracts out the hardware drivers (since they are
not used in virtual guests).

I think we should start with the -virtual config, and can add things if
needed from there.

[Bug 365156] Re: -cloud and -cc init scripts don't set JAVA_HOME

2009-09-25 Thread Matt Zimmerman
Reading the script, and Loic's error output, it looks like perhaps Loic
had JAVA_HOME set to /usr/lib/jvm/java-6-sun, but had no JVM there. As
Soren says, the script finds java in $PATH and this works in all of our
tests.

Please reopen if I've got it wrong and there's a bug here.

2009-09-25 Thread Matt Zimmerman
I think this was probably fixed since 1.6~bzr588, perhaps here:

eucalyptus (1.6~bzr588-0ubuntu1) karmic; urgency=low

  [ Colin Watson ]
  * debian/eucalyptus-udeb.postinst:
- Fix order of db_set vs. db_metaget.
- Fix reversed sense of cluster detection.
- Ensure that tasksel/first preseeding will be propagated to /target.

  [ Soren Hansen ]
  * On upgrades, migrate statoverride for /usr/share/eucalyptus/euca_rootwrap
to /usr/lib/eucalyptus/euca_rootwrap, in case the admin overrode it.
  * Make sure the configuration bits in eucalyptus-common's postinst
only get called during install and upgrade.
  * Add axis2 "repository" for Eucalyptus. This is the only way to use a
separate Axis2/C configuration file for Eucalyptus.
  * New upstream snapshot. (FFe: LP: #420035)

  [ Dustin Kirkland ]
  * Remove init scripts from source package that are no longer used.
  * Make sure $EUID is set in init scripts.
