[Bug 1547528] Re: How to handle specific HW needs for dep8 tests in CI

2016-02-22 Thread Martin Pitt
There is nothing to fix in the autopgtest package, so moving to the more
generic project (which also encompasses the infrastructure to run
tests).

** Package changed: autopkgtest (Ubuntu) => auto-package-testing

[Bug 1547528] Re: How to handle specific HW needs for dep8 tests in CI

2016-02-22 Thread ChristianEhrhardt
Sharing a few good statements from a chat with infinity with all participants
on this bug
And from me thanks Adam for these insights to part of Ubuntus build/test
history.

Quoting Infinity:
"We'd want scalingstack buildds and autopkgtest to match if we're changing
machine type. Having builders and testers mismatched would be super confusing.
[...]
Well, we're already failing if builders/testers are meant to actually be our
base ISA
PPro for i386 that is. For amd64, it's a bit muddier, you'd need to go find
the exact specs of the first Athlon64, which is what the base ISA *should* be.
(Minus 3dNow!, since Intel never supported it).
I think that boils down to i686 + mmx + sse + sse2 + longmode, ish.

So, it comes down to sorting out what we think is reasonable.
Given we always used to build on bare metal (again, on Sandy+ machines), it's
not like we've ever tried to keep the builds confined to a baseline at build
time.

Anyhow, as I said, we've never stuck to this well, as we only started building
on all-virt very recently.
So, I'd be fine with setting a modern base (say, SandyBridge, or just '-cpu
host' even) for builders and testers, and say that packages and toolchains are
responsible for not overstepping ISA bounds, as we've always done."

[Bug 1528583] Re: [FFe] Please update to MySQL 5.7 series

2016-02-22 Thread Lars Tangvald
The package libmysqld-pic has been removed as it is obsolete (there was
no difference between libmysqld-pic and libmysqld-dev in 5.6 either).

The amarok package depends on it, so this dependency needs changing.
Attaching debdiff output for the patch.

Another note is that it also depends on mysql-server-core-5.6 | mysql-
server-core, and the latter isn't actually provided. Will change this so
the 5.7 packaging provides the non-versioned core package.

[Bug 1481105] Re: keystone middleware bug

2016-02-22 Thread James Page
Hi David

The default api-paste.ini provided by the Juno packages makes this
change; for an interactive upgrade, users would have been prompted to
review changes if the default api-paste.ini has been change.

As a policy, we don't endeavour to make automatic updates to
configuration files for the openstack packages as typically they are
being managed outside of packaging, and doing auto-updates just confuses
an already complex situation.

[Bug 1548303] [NEW] Stale references to /lib/udev/rules.d/95-multipath.rules linger

2016-02-22 Thread Tore Anderson
Public bug reported:

/lib/udev/rules.d/95-multipath.rules was removed in multipath-tools
0.4.9-3ubuntu7.5.

While researching an unrelated issue, I noticed that /usr/share
/initramfs-tools/hooks/multipath still refer to this file:

add_udev_rules()
{
  for rules in 95-multipath.rules; do
if [ -e /lib/udev/rules.d/$rules ]; then
  cp -p /lib/udev/rules.d/$rules $DESTDIR/lib/udev/rules.d/
fi
  done
}

This is dead code that it would probably be best to remove.

[Bug 1548306] [NEW] Attempts to load non-existent module dm-emc

2016-02-22 Thread Tore Anderson
Public bug reported:

The scripts in the multipath-tools-boot referer to a non-existent module
"dm-emc":

/usr/share/initramfs-tools/hooks/multipath:

for x in dm-multipath dm-round-robin dm-emc; do
manual_add_modules ${x}
done

/usr/share/initramfs-tools/scripts/local-top/multipath:

MP_MODULES="dm-multipath dm-emc"
[...]
for module in ${MP_MODULES}; do
  if modprobe --syslog "$module"; then
verbose && log_success_msg "loaded module ${module}."
  else
log_failure_msg "failed to load module ${module}."
  fi
done

The latter code block causes a harmless error message to appear on each
boot.

I believe the references to "dm-emc" can be simply removed.

[Bug 1547640] Re: proxy tries ipv6 and gets 503 when no ipv6 routes

2016-02-22 Thread Scott Moser
It appears this bug is fixed in 3.5.1, which Robie Basak is syncing from debian.
I've tried to reproduce but have not been able. When robie fixes bug 1473691,
the fix should come into xenial (16.04).

We can look upstream to find what fix this actually was and cherry pick
back to 14.04.

[Bug 1548392] [NEW] Fix for 1172692 fails to restore hibernation mode with suspend-hybrid

2016-02-22 Thread Dirk F
Public bug reported:

The patch provided in upstream bug
 and implemented
through 28-suspend-hybrid.patch causes error messages "sh: I/O error"
when resuming with suspend-hybrid and hibernate kernel methods.

With suspend-hybrid it also forces the hibernation mode, as shown in
/sys/power/disk, to "suspend" instead of restoring the original mode
which is what the patch tried to do.

Please see the upstream bug for a review of the provided patch with
proposed fixes.

Affects all Ubuntu and derived versions with pm-utils

2016-02-22 Thread Chris J Arges
Hello James, or anyone else affected,

Accepted neutron into wily-proposed. The package will build now and be
available at
https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/neutron/2:7.0.3-0ubuntu1 in a few
hours, and then in the -proposed repository.

Please help us by testing this new package. See
https://wiki.ubuntu.com/Testing/EnableProposed for documentation how to
enable and use -proposed. Your feedback will aid us getting this update

neutron (2:8.0.0~b2-0ubuntu5) xenial; urgency=medium

  * d/control,neutron-plugin-openvswitch-agent.*: Add transitional package for
upgrades, ensure that old init and upstart configurations are removed
(LP: #1548242).
  * d/*.default,neutron-server.init.in: Revert commits which mistakenly
tied ovs or linuxbridge agents to the neutron-server package (LP: #1548245).
  * d/control,neutron-{plugin-}linuxbridge-agent.*: Rename
neutron-plugin-linuxbridge-agent -> neutron-linuxbridge-agent inline with
other agent packages (LP: #1548244).
  * d/control: Add dependency on conntrack for openvswitch and linuxbridge
packages (LP: #1514731).
  * d/control,*.install,*.init.in,*.service.in,*.update.in: Re-jig locations
of ml2 plugin and associated agent files so that openvswitch, linuxbridge
and sriov agents no longer need to include ml2_conf.ini (LP: #1527005).
  * d/control,neutron-{plugin-}sriov-agent.*: Rename
neutron-plugin-sriov-agent -> neutron-sriov-agent inline with
other agent packages (LP: #1548244).
  * d/tests/*: Refactor and reduce tests; ML2 is the only plugin now in neutron
core, so no need to continue to carry infrastructure for testing other
plugins.
  * d/control: Drop old Breaks/Replaces on quantum-* packages.

[Bug 1548486] [NEW] Sleep hook in a subdirectory ignored but causes double execution of previous hook

2016-02-22 Thread Dirk F
Public bug reported:

The set of sleep hooks provided in /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d includes
one (95packagekit/95packagekit) that is stored in a subdirectory. This
has two effects:

1the hook is not run;

2the previous hook, currently /usr/lib/pm-utils/sleep.d/95led, is
run for a second time instead.

Presumably #1 is wrong, and results from an installation fault in
packagekit, separately reported as bug 1548480.

#2 occurs because the function run_hooks() in /usr/lib/pm-utils/pm-
functions computes a list of to-be-executed hooks that includes
directories but neither fully validates each such hook as a regular file
nor handles a set of to-be-executed hooks in a subdirectory.

At lines 243 on, there is a code path with no else clause through which
the $hook from the previous iteration can be accidentally reused:

if [ -f "$syshooks/$base" ]; then
hook="$syshooks/$base"
elif [ -f "$phooks/$base" ]; then
hook="$phooks/$base"
fi

An easy fix is to insert the missing else clause before the fi line so
that the script skips the subdirectory or other non-regular file and
carries on with the next correctly specified hook:

if [ -f "$syshooks/$base" ]; then
hook="$syshooks/$base"
elif [ -f "$phooks/$base" ]; then
hook="$phooks/$base"
else
continue
fi

Observed in Lubuntu 14.04.3,4 with pm-utils 1.4.1-13ubuntu0.1,2. However
the relevant pm-utils code dates back to 2008, pm-utils upstream version
1.1.0.

Improved patch to save previous hibernation method

Review of attachment 68712:

In do_hibernate() the attempt to save and restore the active mode in
/sys/power/disk fails, causing "sh: I/O error" message in pm log
(attempting to write something that isn't one of the modes in
/sys/power/disk, namely an empty string). Instrumenting the function I
found that HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE was never set.

The characters [] are special in a shell pattern (which is what follows
the ## and %% shell variable expansion modifiers) and have to be
escaped: \[ \].

The following works as you intended:

do_hibernate()
{
[ -n "${HIBERNATE_MODE}" ] && \
grep -qw "${HIBERNATE_MODE}" /sys/power/disk && \
#df 2016-02-07 Shell patterns have to be escaped \[ \]! Fixes
sh: I/O error when -z $HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE
HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE=$(cat /sys/power/disk) && \
HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE="${HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE##*\[}" && \
HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE="${HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE%%\]*}" && \
echo -n "${HIBERNATE_MODE}" > /sys/power/disk
echo -n "disk" > /sys/power/state
RET=$?
echo -n "$HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE" > /sys/power/disk
return "$RET"
}

Although you could make the penultimate line as follows I don't
recommend it because it would hide any problems like the escaping issue
that could cause HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE to be invalid:

[ -n "$HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE" ] && echo -n
"$HIBERNATE_MODE_SAVE" > /sys/power/disk

In fact there are 2 cases as the code is used now:

1HIBERNATE_MODE unset => normal hibernate

2HIBERNATE_MODE = suspend => suspend-hybrid

Given which, I've revised my comment above and propose a new version of
the modified do_hibernate() as follows:

do_hibernate()
{
local hibernate_mode_save ret

[ -n "${HIBERNATE_MODE}" ] && \
 grep -qw "${HIBERNATE_MODE}" /sys/power/disk && \
 hibernate_mode_save=$(cat /sys/power/disk) && \
 hibernate_mode_save="${hibernate_mode_save##*\[}" && \
 hibernate_mode_save="${hibernate_mode_save%%\]*}" && \
 [ "$hibernate_mode_save" != "${HIBERNATE_MODE}" ]  || \
 hibernate_mode_save=""
[ -n "$hibernate_mode_save" ] && \
 echo -n "${HIBERNATE_MODE}" > /sys/power/disk
echo -n "disk" > /sys/power/state
ret=$?
[ -n "$hibernate_mode_save" ] && \
 echo -n "$hibernate_mode_save" > /sys/power/disk
return $ret
}

The key points:
- hibernate_mode_save is only set if the current HIBERNATE_MODE is being
changed (which only happens, if it does, in the suspend-hybrid case);
- on resume the hibernate mode is only restored if hibernate_mode_save was set.

This fixes:
- the failure to restore the hibernate mode with suspend-hybrid;
- "sh: I/O error" on resume from su

[Bug 1547640] Re: proxy tries ipv6 and gets 503 when no ipv6 routes

2016-02-22 Thread Amos Jeffries
And for the record. No Squid does not use libc getaddrinfo(). That API
provides speed restrictions several orders of magnitude too slow for
even small Squid installations.

** Description changed:

  Many people run squid (squid-deb-proxy, or maas-proxy) to provide ubuntu
  archive mirror caching and proxying. MAAS sets this up by default for
  users with the 'maas-proxy' package.

  On or about Friday February 19, this setup began to fail for many people.
  Users would see 'apt-get update' returning 503 errors. For me, I saw 503 on
security.ubuntu.com addresses.

- The reason for the failure was that the squid proxy began using ipv6
- addresses for instead of ipv4. The squid proxy host did not have ipv6
- connectivity and thus would fail.
+ The reason for the failure was that the DNS records for Ubuntu reacheda
+ threshold of 10 IPv6 entries. The squid proxy host did not have ipv6
+ connectivity and with a limit of 10 retries the failover does not reach
+ any IPv4 addresses - thus would fail.

  The fix/workaround is to add the following to your squid config:
-   # http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/config/dns_v4_first/
-   dns_v4_first on
+   # http://www.squid-cache.org/Doc/config/forward_max_tries/
+   forward_max_tries 25

  The appropriate squid config file depends on what is running squid.
    maas-proxy: /usr/share/maas/maas-proxy.conf
    squid-deb-proxy: /etc/init/squid-deb-proxy.conf

  I'm not sure how this previously worked, nor what change was made.
  One change that was made in this time frame was a glibc update
(2.19-0ubuntu6.6 to 2.19-0ubuntu6.7) for security (CVE-2013-7423 CVE-2014-9402
CVE-2015-1472 CVE-2015-1473). But it doesn't seem to make sense that that
would change squid3 to start looking for records when it did not
previously.
  i can verify that as late as
-   Thu Feb 18 06:36:07 EST 2016
+   Thu Feb 18 06:36:07 EST 2016
  i was seeing entries in my squid logs with

[Bug 1543334] Re: upgrade to pkg-php-tools 1.32

2016-02-22 Thread Steve Langasek
This package is now buildable, but is blocked in xenial-proposed because
its autopkgtests fail, both with or without the new php-pear:

  http://autopkgtest.ubuntu.com/packages/p/pkg-php-tools/xenial/amd64/

(reproducible for all arches)

sample failure is:
https://objectstorage.prodstack4-5.canonical.com/v1/AUTH_77e2ada1e7a84929a74ba3b87153c0ac
/autopkgtest-xenial/xenial/amd64/p/pkg-php-tools/20160219_055642@/log.gz

This shows incompatibilities both with php-json and with php-pear.

Nish, can you please follow up on this?

2016-02-22 Thread Paul Gear
@yadi Won't changing the limit from 10 to 25 just put off the problem
until later? As I understand it, the main reason this issue caused
problems is that squid attempts IPv6 connections from hosts without
global IPv6 connectivity.
