[Bug 703977] [NEW] bat from bacula-console-qt. not showing menu

2011-01-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

Binary package hint: bacula

On a fresh ubuntu 10.10 (64bit)server install with basically only bacula added
I do not get any menu when selecting
file, settings or help. Running this remote over a "ssh -X" connection

I also suspect I do not get popup menus and probably other stuff. Since
I have not run the program before I do not know exactly what to expect
but the problem is behaving very similar to what skype does on my ubuntu
10.10 laptop where I also do not get any menu or popup. I had to install
skype with the static libraries to make that app work.

So it's probably some generic QT problem showing it's ugly head.

[Bug 700050] [NEW] snmpd binds to 127.0.0.1 by default

2011-01-22 Thread Launchpad Bug Tracker
You have been subscribed to a public bug:

This seems to be a major issue for people trying to setup snmpd in
ubuntu. There are hundreds of post in forums and blogs of users confused
about this. Many post have users editing and re-editing their snmpd.conf
files and dont even realize the daemon is bound to 127.0.0.1 from the
default config. Why is this setup to bind to 127.0.0.1 by default?

"
The net-snmp FAQ says "Normally, the agent will bind to the specified port on
all interfaces
  on the system, and accept requests received from any of them."

http://net-
snmp.sourceforge.net/docs/FAQ.html#How_can_I_listen_on_just_one_particular_interface_

However I see that on my Feisty system the /etc/init.d/snmpd startup script
bound snmpd to only the localhost interface:

$ ps -ef|grep snmp
snmp  6591 1  0 04:11 ?00:00:00 /usr/sbin/snmpd -Lsd -Lf
/dev/null -u snmp -I -smux -p /var/run/snmpd.pid 127.0.0.1

$ netstat -natup|grep 161
udp0  0 127.0.0.1:161   0.0.0.0:*

I can manually launch snmpd without the 127.0.0.1 parameter and then it will
not bind to any specific interface:

$ sudo netstat -natup|grep snmpd
udp0  0 0.0.0.0:161 0.0.0.0:*
7178/snmpd
"

[Bug 672177] Re: libc6 upgrade causes umount to fail on shutdown because init cannot be restarted

2011-01-22 Thread ingo
Thanks for Lucid-fix. I did immediately test with new 'libc6' and
'upstart' from Lucid-proposed:

1. just new 'libc6' -> does not change anything (8 orphaned inodes after
reboot).

2. + new 'upstart' -> gives 1 orphaned inode after reboot.

3. new ('libc6' + 'upstart'), 'apt-get install --reinstall libc6 &&
shutdown -r now' -> 4 orphaned inodes.

So it improves the situation definitely, but does not solve it
completely. Did I miss something to update?

[Bug 706368] [NEW] package bind9 1:9.6.1.dfsg.P1-3ubuntu0.4 failed to install/upgrade: subprocess installed post-installation script returned error exit status 1

2011-01-22 Thread WeberEInc
Public bug reported:

Binary package hint: bind9

This is a continuation / duplication of bug report 689115.

As previously stated, the applet NetworkManager created a file (not a
symbolic link) named /etc/resolv.conf and then bind9 chokes in its
update/upgrade script because it expects a symbolic link.

Doing a cat of /etc/resolv.conf shows

# Generated by NetworkManager
nameserver 10.110.0.15

I don't know what the correct fix is to satisfy both applications.

2011-01-22 Thread WeberEInc
This is an ongoing problem with every update. It appears that bind9 is
still set to try to update and it keeps failing. With each crash I have
had an opportunity to create a new bug report. For all of them that
have occurred up to today, I have been skipping re-submitting a new bug
report for the same bug. Today, I created a new bug and named it as a
duplicate/continuation of this bug.

Please advise.

2011-01-22 Thread Inkwina
/src/time/ntp-servers-list.c from the gnome-system-tools package also needs to
be patched.
Currently the time-admin config tool hard codes the ntp servers (seems like a
list of stratum 0 servers).
Minimally the ubuntu.pool.ntp.og servers should be added, but Ideally no
servers should be hard-coded.

No Ingo, you did everything right, I see similar effects.

That is why sysvinit was added to the bug report. The issue is that
while we've restored the ability to tell init to re-exec itself, we have
also introduced a race condition. telinit u exits as soon as it has sent
SIGTERM to pid 1. Almost the very next line in /etc/init.d/umountroot
attempts the remount of / as readonly. If the signal handler doesn't
complete the re-exec before this, then the remount will still fail.

I've been testing a few ways to make telinit or umountroot block until
init re-execs. The important thing is that this way 10.04.2 will ship
with an init that *can* re-exec.

If you add 'sleep 1' after the telinit u line in /etc/init.d/umountroot,
that should give you a much better chance of succeeding the remount.
Hopefully there will be a proper fix available for that early next week,
but I don't know if it will be accepted for 10.04.2 or have to come as
an update to 10.04.2.

[Bug 530051] Re: Autofs and semiautomatic credentials

2011-01-22 Thread Jools Wills
makes more sense instead of having just a file with the credentials, you could
just have a file with additional parameters.
You can of course then include the credentials with username=xxx, password=xxx
this way you can include other options that you might need such as uid, gid,
nounix etc
