[Bug 119660] Re: Autofs should be reloaded when state of network interface changes
Hello, I see a similar problem on Karmic when using autofs to mount CIFS shares. If I turn off my computer while a share is still mounted, the computer will stay upon "killing all remaining process line" indefinitely. If I add a script similar to the one proposed in "/etc/network/if-down.d" to umount automounted shares, my computer will nicely shut down every time. I think that networkmanager brings ethernet interface down before autofs is called to umount shares. Public bug reported: Binary package hint: slapd 1) Take a working Ubuntu LDAP server using the pre-8.10 configuration file : /etc/ldap/slapd.conf 2) Run the following python script : #!/usr/bin/python import ldap.schema ssse, schema = ldap.schema.urlfetch("ldap://127.0.0.1";) print ssse, schema it will return something like : cn=Subschema 3) Upgrade to the /etc/ldap/slapd.d/* configuration. [Bug 506317] Re: ldap.schema.urlfetch doesn't work anymore since slapd.d migration
Here's the workaround. The bug is caused because the migration seems to forbid anonymous access to subschema which is required by tools like phpldapadmin and urlfetch. 1) Stop your ldap server. 2) modify the slapd.conf file to add the following : access to dn="cn=subschema" by * read # before the first database definition database config # NOTE: the suffix is hardcoded as cn=config and # MUST not have a suffix directive # normal rules apply - rootdn can be anything you want # but MUST be under cn=config rootdn "cn=admin,cn=config" # use any of the supported password formats e.g. {SSHA} etc # or plaintext as shown rootpw config 3) remove the slapd.d folder (but keep a backup) 4) generate a new slapd.d folder : slaptest -f slapd.conf -F slapd.d 5) change its ownership : chown -R openldap:openldap slapd.d 6) restart slapd ! [Bug 211631] Re: Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown)
Hi Spaetz. That "fix" was documented as early as comment 7 and is discussed thoroughly throughout the 110 or so comments. Sadly, the fix doesn't work in Karmic any more. Well, I'll qualify that - it works for wired connections, but not for WIFI. Network Manager brings WIFI connections down internally on a shutdown signal BEFORE any startup/shutdown script is run. I recommend anyone still affected by this bug to use autofs to mount their CIFS and NFS shares. Autofs gracefully kills the connection on an interface disconnection without triggering the dreaded "CIFS VFS server not responding" message and subsequent 90 second delay. I *think* that this bug is only apparent now if : a) You're mounting remote NFS/CIFS shares by specifying them in /etc/fstab AND b) You're using WIFI to connect to said shares and you forget to disconnect/unmount the shares before shutting down. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm not sure if there's a way to update the bug to reflect this? -- Network is brought down before network filesystems are unmounted (CIFS timeout at shutdown) https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/211631 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 506332] Re: Can't login with SSH to Lucid UEC image - uec metadata service returns a string instead of a list of string for ssh public keys
Not as relevant here, but to point out, there are other differences in the 2 files: - uec has 'ancestor-ami-ids' field (probably ok) - ec2 has instance-action - uec has 'product-codes' . apparently if there are none, ec2 doesn't present that in the metadata - the noted public-keys difference -- Can't login with SSH to Lucid UEC image - uec metadata service returns a string instead of a list of string for ssh public keys https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/506332 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to eucalyptus in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs

[Bug 506332] Re: Can't login with SSH to Lucid UEC image - uec metadata service returns a string instead of a list of string for ssh public keys
#12: ancestor-ami-ids are also in ec2 if the image has ancestors. instance-action is not supported by Eucalyptus at this time (so it is absent). #11: The difference between the two outputs posted seems to be a parser issue which is converting the public-key string into a list. [Bug 491288] Re: File corruption after copying files via samba from Karmic to Karmic
Since "smbfs (2:3.4.0-3ubuntu5)" i experience same problems. I've mounted my homedirs via CIFS. All works fine (servernio to get KDE-apps working). After this update i noticed some "extrem" file errors while using Opera (HD-Cache enabled) and Firefox. Trying to download something always causes a damaged file. Every large file (> 500kb) results in a damaged file. If i switch from servernio to directio. Firefox and Opera works fine, now javaws, skype and some other apps craches cause of file corruption. But copying files from or to some "normal" mounts works perfectly. smb.conf >>[homes] >> comment = Home Directories >> browseable = yes >> writeable = yes >> available = yes >> guest ok = no >> >> [Media] >> path = /storage/Media >> comment = Mediensammlung >> nt acl support = yes >> browsable = yes >> writeable = yes >> available = yes >> guest ok = no >> inherit permissions = yes >> hide dot files = yes mounting via pam_mount >>>mountpoint="/home/%(USER)" options="rw,hard,iocharset=utf8,serverino"/> >>>mountpoint="/mnt/Media" options="rw,hard,iocharset=utf8"/> /proc/fs/cifs/DebugData >>Display Internal CIFS Data Structures for Debugging >>--- >>CIFS Version 1.60 >>Active VFS Requests: 790 >>Servers: >>1) Name: 192.168.99.2 Domain: WORKGROUP Uses: 5 OS: Unix >>NOS: Samba 3.4.0Capability: 0x80f3fd >> SMB session status: 1 TCP status: 1 >>Local Users To Server: 1 SecMode: 0x3 Req On Wire: 0 >>Shares: >>1) Mounts: 1 Type: NTFS DevInfo: 0x0 Attributes: 0x1002f >> PathComponentMax: 255 Status: 0x1 type: 0 >>2) Mounts: 1 Type: NTFS DevInfo: 0x0 Attributes: 0x1002f >> PathComponentMax: 255 Status: 0x1 type: 0 >>3) Mounts: 1 Type: NTFS DevInfo: 0x0 Attributes: 0x1002f >> PathComponentMax: 255 Status: 0x1 type: 0 >>4) Mounts: 1 Type: NTFS DevInfo: 0x0 Attributes: 0x1002f >> PathComponentMax: 255 Status: 0x1 type: 0 >>5) Mounts: 1 Type: NTFS DevInfo: 0x0 Attributes: 0x1002f >> PathComponentMax: 255 Status: 0x1 type: 0 >> >>MIDs: dmesg and /var/log/syslog shows nothing interesting even with “echo 3 > /proc/fs/cifs/cifsFYI” -- File corruption after copying files via samba from Karmic to Karmic https://bugs.launchpad.net/bugs/491288 You received this bug notification because you are a member of Ubuntu Server Team, which is subscribed to samba in ubuntu. -- Ubuntu-server-bugs mailing list Ubuntu-server-bugs@lists.ubuntu.com Modify settings or unsubscribe at: https://lists.ubuntu.com/mailman/listinfo/ubuntu-server-bugs
