[Ubuntu-phone] Meisu MX4 - phone ? is it hardware or software
This is my first post to this forum. I bought an MX4 for phone about 2 months ago and have had many problems, some of them fixed with the latest updates. However I continue to have great trouble using the phone as a phone because pressing the green button rarely results with a phone call and when it does, pressing the red button is almost impossible to stop the call . It would also appear that the keypad on the lower part the lowest roles including the spacebar is also similarly hard to operate. Although occaisonaly it will function. I'm wondering whether this is a hardware problem related to my specific phone or if other people have experienced the same problem using this handset . As it is it is a passable music device and Podbird works very well . peter richards -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-phone Post to : ubuntu-phone@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-phone More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
[Ubuntu-phone] lost my main menus today MX4
for some inexplicable reason I now only have "nearby" and "apps" scope. the main page, photos and news scopes are nowhere to be found. and reboot does not restore. Is there any way to retrieve them or do I have to reset. I would rather not do that if I dont have to. peter richards -- Mailing list: https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-phone Post to : ubuntu-phone@lists.launchpad.net Unsubscribe : https://launchpad.net/~ubuntu-phone More help : https://help.launchpad.net/ListHelp
Re: [Ubuntu-phone] lost my main menus today MX4
sadly - yes but one of the problems since the beginning has been that the lowest area of my screen seems to be insensitive to touch. So swiping up is an enormous problem. for instance if I touch the ubuntu symbol on the menu, the phone is activated. Similarly if I touch the space bar on the keyboard I get V on the screen. and to reset the phone, I have to use landscape. In the main view, it seems the landscape view is not available. all in all, a bit frustrating. but thanks for the suggestion. peter richards - Original Message - From: "Nikos Chatziioakimidis" To: "a5a15447" Cc: ubuntu-phone@lists.launchpad.net Sent: Saturday, November 14, 2015 1:48:23 PM Subject: Re: [Ubuntu-phone] lost my main menus today MX4 Hi Have you tried swiping from the bottom edge? I can't answer to a call, when I try to open an app it seems like the touch surface is shifted, for example: if I touch with my finger an icon in the bottom of the display, the OS open an app placed at the middle of the display. What did it happen? The other MX4 is having the same problem since yesterday, but in this second case it's not happening always. Are there any updates that we received during the day that didn't require our approval? Why do I have the similar problem in two phones? Can I send to you a syslog or dmesg? In case, how? And how can I restore my phone? I can't use it like this. that's EXACTLY where I am at too. At this point it's almost bricked. Does ubuntu have a solution? peter richards - Original Message - From: "Marco Graziotti" To: "John McAleely" Cc: "ubuntu-phone" Sent: Monday, November 16, 2015 3:55:42 PM Subject: Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Meizu MX4 (Arale r6), impossible to use the phone, serious problem using touch screen Hi John, thank you for your answer. I saw that if I remove the protection shield from the screen (plastic shield installed on the screen) this problem it's partially solved. Infact, now I have a problem with the bottom of touch surface, I can't press anything in this part. I decided to reset the phone, but I'm not able to press the "continue" button from the display. Now my phone is totally unusable. I searched on internet for a solution, and it seems that many MX4 are affected from this problem. Some MX4 launch apps randomly by themselves, like mine. This happened after I removed the protection shield (I made a video of this issue, similar to this one: https://youtu.be/azNK63maBxM ). Now I have a problem like the one showed in this video: https://youtu.be/T4LJhkyk-oU the bottom of MX4 display doesn't work, but in my case the "home" button works, but not the screen bottom. Right now I'm stuck at the first step of restore procedure (where you can choose a language), and i can't go forward because the bottom of the display doesn't work. Now my phone is totally unusable. What can I do? Thank you, Marco Graziotti Il 16/11/2015 23:09, John McAleely ha scritto: Ubuntu does not update silently. Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Meizu MX4 (Arale r6), impossible to use the phone, serious problem using touch screen
I finally managed to succeed in installing stock android on my Ubuntu Meizu and... the keypad is a hardware failure rather than software (doesn't work on android either). I will be returning the unit to Meizu. though where to send it is a mystery at the moment. If anyone has an address for returns, I would be obliged. peter richards - Original Message - From: "a5a15447" To: "Marco Graziotti" Cc: "ubuntu-phone" Sent: Monday, November 16, 2015 9:43:34 PM Subject: Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Meizu MX4 (Arale r6), impossible to use the phone, serious problem using touch screen that's EXACTLY where I am at too.
