Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Soft-bricked Nexus 7 with Ubuntu Phone

2013-07-25 Thread András Mamenyák
Hi!
You should use fastboot in fastboot mode, not adb.
And you should simply reboot into recovery and flash the ubuntu files (you
have adb there too)

2013-07-25 Thread András Mamenyák
Follow this guide <http://developer.android.com/tools/device.html> (from
step 3) to make your device detection work.
You should just copy over the two .zip files, then flash .zip from sdcard
in recovery.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Updating phablet-flash

2013-07-28 Thread András Mamenyák
Just download the images from [1] and forget the whole phablet-flash thing.
Then reboot into recovery, copy the downloaded .zip-s to the device through
adb and flash them.
You should also wipe data, cache, etc.

[Ubuntu-phone] Flipped Sony Tablet Z Port

2013-07-29 Thread András Mamenyák
Hi all!

I am currently trying to switch to ubuntu-saucy, but I need some help.

The device boots into black screen. Everything else is working (adb, wifi).
Please see the attached logs (dmesg, logcat, logs from upstart).
I hadn't modified any of the device/kernel files, only some minor things to
get the image built and booting.
Where should I start?

[Ubuntu-phone] Flipped Samsung Note 10.1 port

2013-08-02 Thread András Mamenyák
Hello!

I am currently trying to switch to ubuntu-saucy, but I need some help.

With much hassle the device finally boots into black screen. I have added
70-*.rules file.
Please see dmesg [1] and logcat [2]. When I press the power button, the
screen lights up a little.

Also, is this normal [3]?
upper - using Ubuntu Touch
lower - as usual

[Ubuntu-phone] Things not building

2013-08-03 Thread András Mamenyák
Hello!

Can someone please tell me why building this [1] gives me an error - no
rule to make ...
It's used like this: http://paste.ubuntu.com/5943438/

The [2] one doesn't give any build errors, but at the end, it is missing.
It should be in $OUT/bin/, but it isn't.

I resolved these errors manually, but I feel these could be fixed by adding
something missing.

Thank you!

[Ubuntu-phone] Need your help guys!

2013-08-03 Thread András Mamenyák
Hello all!

I am mamenyaka and I am responsible for porting Ubuntu Touch.

It all started when I ported Ubuntu Touch to my gf's Samsung Note 10.1
tablet. After seeing it's success, I entered a competition with the project
to port Ubuntu Touch to Sony Tablet Z. I can say that the project was
successful, because even flipped images are available for that device!
Of course, all of this couldn't have been achieved without the help of you
guys here on the mailing list!

If you have an XDA account and would like to support my project, and with
that, Ubuntu Touch itself, please head over to [1] and read the
instructions on how and where to vote.

Thank you! It would really mean alot to me, seeing all of our hard work pay
off.

Okay, now I think I got it right, but still, it sits on samsung logo.
Sorry if I screwed up again.
Is it ok BTW that menuconfig changes some other stuff in my defconfig file
when I only edited the cmdline option?

Yes, I did it the exact same way, only I simply loaded the defconfig file
from makeconfig after copying it to kernel root. But then I compared it to
the original using Meld, and only kept the changes that were with cmdline.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Flipped Sony Tablet Z Port

2013-08-06 Thread András Mamenyák
Question I asked earlier, can I provide two device images with one
maintainer team? Because I am providing pollux_windy image when you run
that command, which could lead to problems when used with pollux device.
Should I create separate teams for the same device, but different versions,
(like with LTE, wifi only) or can you show me how to update the manifest to
be able to support two or more devices?

I think there is no reason to phablet-flash not to work if first it uses
fastboot commands to install the boot and other device partitions and then
going into the installed recovery to flash the ubuntu image.
But wiping out everything is too much for me to test right now.

But the saucy image cannot be flashed with phablet until it needs the extra
70-* rules file, because it won't work, that's why it still has the non
flipped image.

Hi!

It really surprises me how misunderstood I am, I'll try to explain myself.

Just tell me to create additional teams, it's no problem, I already created
two of them, didn't I? I'm just waiting for the confirmation to do so. And
I will update them regularly as saucy gets installable by phablet-flash
(because of the rule: no extra steps needed)

> So there's no support for "--variant "

Of course, but it's no need for something like that, each variant has it's
own unique codename.
So in our case there is pollux (with LTE) and pollux_windy (WiFi only).
Or for Note 10.1 there are four variants: n8000, n8010, n8013 and n8020.
You get the idea.

> I just thought it would have been nice if the images we offer through
phablet-flash had been tested beforehand.

All my images I provide have been tested by me or by the community (or at
least no one complained that they don't boot), but I am testing them
manually, by flashing them in recovery.

> Can anyone help András with this?

I already submitted a MR with my udev rules files, on the IRC chat ogra
told me it will be the same as with the .config files a while back.

D/libEGL  ( 1854): loaded /system/lib/egl/libGLESv1_CM_mali.so
D/libEGL  ( 1854): loaded /system/lib/egl/libGLESv2_mali.so
W/libEGL  ( 1854): eglInitialize(0x1) failed (EGL_BAD_ALLOC)

Is the proprietary driver the problem or something else? If so, from where

There is a problem with the device:
If I unplug the USB cord, the device reboots. There are some powerd errors

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] This morning's raring upgrades result in dependency / conflict issues.

Same here, just the usual apt-get upgrading removed qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu
because it upgraded qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu-common and now I can't
install qtcreator-plugin-ubuntu because of dependency problems. But this
happened before, just wait a few days, I guess.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Ubuntu flashing reports OK but not booting and android restore fails

2013-09-16 Thread András Mamenyák
Please try to flash your phone manually, avoid using phablet-flash.
Try flashing a recovery in fastboot first, then use the recovery to wipe
everything, then install the ubuntu .zips.

"frameworks/base/nfc-extras/com.android.nfc_extras.xml" (just to be sure,
maybe you can leave this as it is)

"Nfc \

[Ubuntu-phone] Port to n8000 (Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1) working

2013-03-03 Thread András Mamenyák
Hello all!

I am mamenyaka from XDA and I recently joined Launchpad to announce my work.
I built the image for the n8000 and n8013, and apart from the wifi and
messed up text, everything seems fine.
Please go to my
thread to
check it out.
I would like to add my image to the Work in Progress or to the Sort of
working category.

Regards,
mamenyaka

[Ubuntu-phone] Text displays incorrectly on Galaxy Note 10.1

2013-03-04 Thread András Mamenyák
Hello all,

I have little clue why is this happening, or if anyone else experienced it.
In my thread, I have an image with the problem:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2168999

As you can see, most of the text is misdisplayed, but there are some parts,
where it is displayed correctly, for example the time menu.

[Ubuntu-phone] mali r3p1-01rel1 problems and newer builds don't boot

2013-03-12 Thread András Mamenyák
Hi all!

I am porting Ubuntu Touch to the Galaxy Note 10.1
As many of you know, there is a problem with the font rendering.
One solution would be to revert the mali video driver back to r3p0.
This didn't work, the device didn't boot at all. I paid attention to the
proprietary files too.
Other solution that Ricardo Mendoza suggested is to increase the allocated
 video memory, but that doesn't work either or I did something wrong.
Could someone please help me?

Also the newer quantal-preinstalled-phablet-armhf.zip files don't seem to
boot, there is just black.

and it repeats over and over again.

[Ubuntu-phone] lp:session-manager

2013-03-27 Thread András Mamenyák
Can someone please add the .conf files to the ubuntu-session.d for my
device?
I already submitted in reply to the original announcement e-mail, and I am
still not a part of the Ubuntu Phablet Team, so I can't commit them.

Here it is:
GT-N8000.conf

GRID_UNIT_PX=10
QTWEBKIT_DPR=2.0
FORM_FACTOR="tablet"

this is identical for N8010, N8013 and N8020

[Ubuntu-phone] WiFi not connecting

2013-04-28 Thread András Mamenyák
Hi folks!

I am working on the port for N8000 (galaxy note 10.1) and after
finally managing to fix the font issue, I came across to this problem: when
trying to connect to an AP, the connection fails.
This line is in init.smdk4x12.rc, without it, the tablet can't even see the
APs
insmod /system/lib/modules/dhd.ko
firmware_path=/system/etc/wifi/bcmdhd_sta.bin
nvram_path=/system/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt

This is the error in dmesg:
dhd_wl_ioctl: WLC_IOCTL: cmd: 23, ret = -17
connect failed event=0 e->status 1 e->reason 0
wl_bss_connect_done : Report connect result - connection failed

Please, if you can, help. Thank you!

[Ubuntu-phone] Help! Unable to connect to WiFi AP

Hello all!

I am unable to resolve the WiFi issue with my N8000 tablet.
In UbuntuTouch I can see the available APs, but after I enter my password,
it fails to  connect.

dmesg:

<6>[   68.617725] c0 CFG80211-TRACE) __wl_cfg80211_scan : START SCAN

<6>[   75.600068] c0 pet_watchdog_timer_fn kicking...be65

I inserted the following module in the init file:
insmod /system/lib/modules/dhd.ko
firmware_path=/system/etc/wifi/bcmdhd_sta.bin
nvram_path=/system/etc/wifi/nvram_net.txt

Any help is appreciated!

[Ubuntu-phone] dmesg errors help

2013-07-10 Thread András Mamenyák
Hello developers!

I am working on porting Ubuntu Touch to Sony Xperia Tablet Z.
The device boots and Ubuntu Touch is working, but could you please look at
the dmesg , there is some error with
smd_pkt_open failed on smd_pkt_dev id:0 - pil_get failed for gss
I don't know what it is, or if it is important or not.

The WiFi is not working, not even the detection of the APs. And also the
camera is not working, the Camera app just stays with the grey background
and with the controls.

Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you!

[Ubuntu-phone] Build error

2013-07-11 Thread András Mamenyák
Hi all!

I have a build error with qcom/display-caf:

hardware/qcom/display-caf/libgralloc/framebuffer.cpp: In function 'int
fb_post(framebuffer_device_t*, buffer_handle_t)':
hardware/qcom/display-caf/libgralloc/framebuffer.cpp:93:25: error:
'MDP_DISPLAY_COMMIT_OVERLAY' was not declared in this scope
hardware/qcom/display-caf/libexternal/external.cpp: In member function
'bool qhwc::ExternalDisplay::post()':
hardware/qcom/display-caf/libexternal/external.cpp:693:24: error:
'MDP_DISPLAY_COMMIT_OVERLAY' was not declared in this scope

They both have
#include
which has
#define MDP_DISPLAY_COMMIT_OVERLAY 0x0001

If I pull the latest cm-10.1, the image builds fine, but still, why is this
error? If anyone could please explain and tell me how to fix it?

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Build error

2013-07-12 Thread András Mamenyák
Thank you for your reply. I searched for the file, and only that one exists
(and the same one copied to the out directory).
There are lots of defines used from that header, and only this one gives me
the error. So I really have no idea.

In the end I just fixed it manually, and it also gave me some narrowing
errors, that also needed to be fixed manually.
Still, the latest cm-10.1 branch builds without error, but I don't know if
there are other things in that repo that might break things with ubuntu
(got some weird dmesg errors with that).

 Hey,

 I have just ported the Ubuntu android layer to my device (HTC Evo 3D -
 shooteru) and since I heard about all this 'flipped image' hoohah I used a
 older image instead.

 I manage to boot into a blackscreen (it's actually the white HTC screen
 but it works the same) and can use adb shell, ubuntu-chroot and get logcats
 and what not.

 I have the logcat attached here: http://pastebin.com/XRD2kNDE

 Thanks,
 Ewan

2013-07-13 Thread András Mamenyák
After you connect your device, please see in dmesg if it gets recognized.
It should be there.
For the moment you could try killing adb ($ killall adb) and restart it as
sudo ($ sudo adb devices) and see if it recognizes your device.
If the above works, then I suggest you follow this
guide
or
another similar if you get stuck.

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] [Development] Quantal port = blackscreen (with adblogcats)

You can try this:
"As phablet-flash has been updated to pull flipped by default, a
--legacy option was added to access the unflipped artifacts."

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Fail to build m7tmo (T-Mobile HTC One)

2013-07-14 Thread András Mamenyák
This is great, I had the same error and was talking about it here on the
mailing list. When you have this kind of error (Error 1), you need to look
a little bit into the output, because the real error is some lines before.
Look:

hardware/qcom/display-caf/libexternal/external.cpp: In member function
'bool qhwc::ExternalDisplay::post()':
hardware/qcom/display-caf/libexternal/external.cpp:693:24: error:
'MDP_DISPLAY_COMMIT_OVERLAY' was not declared in this scope
make: ***
[/home/thomasjohnarouge/Documents/ubuntu_touch_porting/out/target/product/m7tmo/obj/SHARED_LIBRARIES/libexternal_intermediates/external.o]
Error 1

The easy solution that I did here was to edit .repo/manifest.xml:

And then just to make sure, in hardware/qcom/display-caf:
$ git checkout cm-10.1

Re: [Ubuntu-phone] Fail to build m7tmo (T-Mobile HTC One)

2013-07-15 Thread András Mamenyák
This is new.
Well, I don't have any direct fix for this, you need to dig around a little.

First thing, you should grep for that undeclared thing in you croot (
ubuntu_touch_porting/):
$ grep -r "OVERSCAN_PERCENT" * (takes some time)
If you can find the #define, than just write it's value there.

If not, than you can try to comment it out
from m7-common/BoardConfigCommon.mk, and just hope it works:

# Custom Recovery
ifneq ($(filter m7att m7tmo m7ul,$(TARGET_DEVICE)),)
TARGET_RECOVERY_FSTAB := device/htc/m7-common/recovery/recovery.fstab.gsm
else
TARGET_RECOVERY_FSTAB := device/htc/m7-common/recovery/recovery.fstab.cdma
endif
BOARD_CUSTOM_GRAPHICS := ../../../device/htc/m7-common/recovery/graphics.c
 <- this
BOARD_USE_CUSTOM_RECOVERY_FONT := \"roboto_23x41.h\"
BOARD_HAS_NO_SELECT_BUTTON := true
TARGET_USERIMAGES_USE_EXT4 := true
