Re: [Ubuntu-manual] By Way of Introduction

2011-04-09 Thread Isabell Long
Hi,

I thought I'd better do this too. :-)

Name: Isabell Long

Email: isabell...@gmail.com

Past: Ubuntu Manual editor, proofreader, avidly interested person!

Future: Would like to get more involved again, particularly with the above.
Will have a go at new things, too, and eager to learn. Also, maybe some French
translation if there is need?

IRC nick: issyl0 (that's an L and a 0 at the end :-))

Thanks,

Isabell.

I'm not sure. Aren’t there logs anywhere either? If it turns out that nobody
did take minutes, I'm happy to put some together.

Let me know,

Isabell.

This is all great news! Thanks a lot! :-)

Re: [Ubuntu-manual] Author's names

2011-06-16 Thread Isabell Long
Hi,

On 16 Jun 2011, at 08:25, Hannie wrote:

That is a very good question. I don't have an official answer, but I feel that
we should, if only to give credit to all generally and not necessarily to
specific people who write it, because this time even though we have assigned
people to author and edit, people may change chapters that aren't "theirs". We
must not forget the massive restructuring/editing/proofreading stage either, to
which many people contribute - if we listed all of those (or if they listed
themselves and it felt rude to remove them as they contributed a decent amount,
for instance), then imagine how long the list would get per chapter!

I can, however, see the other side of the coin: people who have worked
substantially on a chapter may want recognition for that chapter in the chapter
itself. Going back to my earlier point, though, why not split the
"contributors" section at the end of the manual (once all the [possibly more]
helpful content is out of the way) into authors/*main* editors for each
chapter, plus the rest?

To reiterate, I do think that having a list of contributors at the back of the
manual and nothing actually in the chapters re: authors is a good thing, but,
see my last paragraph above. :-)

Thanks,

Isabell.

It would be helpful to know what time zone the times in the poll
correspond to as I assume they're US times, so that those of us not in the
US can work out availability according to them. :-)

Thanks,

Re: [Ubuntu-manual] Ubuntu Manual: Ubuntu Desktop Working Session

Hi all,

I've just looked back through my emails and realised I missed this. I
have read the IRC scrollback, though. Quite interesting. If there's
anything (non-author) that I can do to help... :-) Sorry, I've been
pretty distant recently. :-(
