[Ubuntu-manual] Screenshot highlighting
I think it may be useful to highlight portions of screenshots. We could put an orange oval around text or a button, or maybe blur or grey all but one section of the screenshot to draw the readers attention to it. The only problem would be doing it so that it looks good and is consistent. Re: [Ubuntu-manual] Screenshot highlighting
Hi, everyone! My name is Tom Cantara. I was part of the very first Ubuntu Manual team, and enjoyed the experience. I've been inactive since then, mainly due to my job, but I still follow the project. Hopefully I will return to a more active role in the future. The idea of screenshot highlighting is an excellent suggestion, provided it is done with consistency (as Mr. Montag suggests in his e-mail message). My two cents: either have one person editing pictures, or if more than one picture editor is necessary, make sure that all editors use the same technique-and preferably the same editing tool (this might be a way to further show Ubuntu newcomers the power of GIMP). If I can make some time in my schedule, perhaps I could lend a hand with photo editing. I will continue to follow the project, and let you know if I'm available to lend a hand. Y'all "keep on keeping on." tac Sent from my iPad 2 On May 16, 2012, at 13:21, Andrew Montag wrote: > I think it may be useful to highlight portions of screenshots. Re: [Ubuntu-manual] Screenshot highlighting
We may also consider using an arrow to point to things. Perhaps this is something that could be built into Quickshot; have quickshot save one image plain, and then prompt the user for any highlights that can also be saved. -Andrew On Wed, May 16, 2012 at 9:31 PM, John Cave wrote: > If we are to do this, a circle would suffice. Re: [Ubuntu-manual] Screenshot highlighting
Hi Andrew, Personally I think this is a good idea. One can also add arrows, balloons etc. to further explain a detail of the image, but only when it is really an improvement, otherwise it will become messy. If the screenshot is in the right resolution I think technically there is nog problem. Why don't you make one example and send it to Kevin to see how it looks in pdf?
