Hi Patrick, Sleep is important, it's a pity you could not attend. I think from our team only Kevin and I were present (and Joel of course). I found it a bit difficult to follow because the audio quality was poor, but luckily Kevin did all the chatting and typing (thank you, Kevin). Your questions have been discussed, and I suggest we talk about the Documentation method, and the other points discussed, on our next meeting. Sorry I missed it, but sleep is one of those strange things My three questions were aimed at the Documentation team, as I think that we could adopt some of their methods to reduce the lag time between when a version of Ubuntu is released and when our manual is released. If nothing else, once the feature freeze is in effect, we could start writing our chapters (and only have to modify them as we get closer to the release date--if something changes). Then we could do the screenshots on the last beta/release candidate (or on the actual release) and have the manual out within weeks--as opposed to months. Re: [Ubuntu-manual] tex live installation
Hi Wayne, First of all, you can check to see if it's added to the Path by opening a terminal and typing "echo $PATH" without the quotes. I'll be running through the installation this afternoon (CDT in the US) (on 12.04) so I'll see what issues come up. Off hand, did you follow the instructions from the ubuntu-manual website, or did you follow the instructions from where you downloaded TexLive from? Have a great day:) Patrick. Depending on where you installed the software, you'll want to do something like: export PATH=${PATH}:/usr/local/bin The /usr/local/bin bit might be different on your system - like I said it depends on where you installed the software to. -- Steve When one person suffers from a delusion it is insanity. Did you enable the creation of the symlinks (step 6.1)? If not, you should be able to create the symlinks with the following command: $ sudo /usr/local/texlive/2011/bin/x86_64-linux/tlmgr path add (The x86_64-linux directory may be different on your system if you're running 32-bit Linux or another platform. Similarly, if you installed to a different location, you may need to adjust the entire path leading up to the tlmgr command.) Please let me know if that works or if you continue to have problems. [Ubuntu-manual] Author status report
Here is an update on my status. I've installed 12.04, and configured everything via the authors page on the test.ubuntu-manual.org website (actually it's through a script that I created a while back). I skimmed through my chapter this evening, and have a few changes to make. One is the "Managing Groups" section needs to be removed--as it's not an option in the default configuration of Unity. Also (at least on my "making" of the manual), I'm missing some screenshots (although I think they're actually in the manual). I'll read through it more in depth tomorrow, and will have a complete list and the rough draft by May 31. Have a great day:) Patrick. Re: [Ubuntu-manual] Author status report
That sounds fine. I have one issue though. One of the screenshots was of the directory-structure, and I'm not sure how they created it. So it may need to be placed back in. Here is the error (so you can see the screenshot) The file screenshots/en/root-directories.png does not exist! Any advice on how to fix this is appreciated. Thanks, and have a great day:) Patrick.
